I miss you Bennigan’s. Sometimes I come back to this page to reminisce and look at the pictures. I curse that piece of shit Broken Yolk that dances over your grave. Bennigan’s death was sudden. I remember when I heard the news I simply could not believe it. Bennigan was too young but as it slowly occurred to me I have realized that Bennigan indeed lived his life wonderfully. Bennigan was well-loved and he had done so many things on earth and I’m sure he’ll do much more in heaven. I will forever be grateful to have known Bennigan. I will forever be grateful that Bennigan was there at the right place and at the right time to save my life. I will forever be grateful for spending 10 years of my life with a friend like him. All the memories I have shared with him will forever be cherished and remembered. Michael will forever live in my heart… In our hearts.

I wish I could give 0 stars . The service is slow & it stinks. This place is dingy . They didn’t have any SW egg rolls so I just had an order of sweet potato fries. Which were decent, a little sweet . I’m not imagining that the server was avoiding out table . ** My husband didn’t get his lemonade until AFTER his burger came out. WTF . I could see into the kitchen when I went to the restroom to wash my hands after the meal — yuck. Dirty, confirmed. Ew . I didn’t even want to tip at ALL but left 10% I will never go back and never recommend. *** STAYAWAYFROMHERE !!!

I don’t Unilocal full chain restaurant reviews unless something noteworthy and/or terrible happened during the session. So, consider this a check-in to let those familiar with Bennigan’s know this particular location is doing it right, and you have no worries should you decide to drop in here. In particular, the manager even dropped by the table to check up and give us that little warm-and-fuzzy. So hog on down. No worries.

I go to Bennigans because they do not flinch when my almost two year old smears food all over his face and his hair. I go to Bennigans because they make a sinfully delicious Monte Cristco and Slideres. I go to Bennigans because it is on the louder side and it drowns out my four year old’s whine. I got to Bennigans because they have tasty adult beverages. I go to Bennigans because it’s a chain that is familiar to me and my family. It may not be advertised as a family restaurant, but it serves my family just fine.

Pretty good. Had the Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta… it was pretty oily at the bottom. The garlic bread that came with it kind of was too greasy and I barely tasted any garlic. My boyfriend had the steak and salmon on its own with no mashed potatoes or fries, he loved it there. The plus side, pretty good price. I wouldn’t go back unless my boyfriend wants to.

The Rueben Sandwich was ok but soggy as a baby’s wet diaper. There is something wrong with this place. I’m not a fan of chain restaurants. However this place was much better off as part of the now defunct chain. There are only a few of these restaurants left in Ca. It’s too bad that the one in Mission Valley has lost it’s appeal. Again, the Rueben was ok and they have they still have the Monte Cristo to their credit. However something is lost. Maybe it’s the once Irish themed cuisine that has turned into your typical run of the mill restaurant. Drop the main dishes from the old menu and add a bunch of weird stuff that doesn’t fit the restaurant’s style and there you have it. Bennigan’s. The steak salad looks gross, they also serve fajitas(what???), southwestern egg rolls… etc…if they maybe used a corn beef spin on there generic food items I might appreciate it more. Anyways take my review for what it’s worth. Until today, It’s been about 5 years since I’ve been to this place. I was highly disappointed and surprised how empty this place was at 730 on a Friday night. Service was good, not the servers fault here. An exceptional server can serve crap and make you happy with their experience. However they are still serving crap. Sorry Bennigan’s, I have to call it quits. It’s not me, it’s you. I’m going to Denny’s before I consider you again.

This is a casual dining place. So I went in expecting plain food like many other chain resaurants. However I was pleasantly surprised to find the quality of the food here beats possible competitors. I like anyplace where I can go several times and always get something that tastes good. I have had the monte cristo, the chicken wrap, the carrot cake, the clam chowder, the reuben and they were all good! Friendly service. Get the sweet potato fries! They are killer good! O.K. the fish and chips were WONDERFUL. The sampler was greasy, but that was my own damn fault because they were ummm deep fried goods! Pros: tasty food, lots of menu options. Cons: nothing

Come for the monte cristo, but make sure your arteries are up for the challenge first! Deep fried ham, turkey, cheese sammy, dusted with powdered sugar with a side of raspberry jelly = SD fair worthy. yum.

I don’t know about everything else on the menu but this is the place for MONTECRISTO!!! The original! I drove all da way down to San Diego from LA just for their Monte Cristo sandwich and it was all worth it!

After watching the Miami Heat win Game 5 of the NBA finals basketball series at the Tilted Kilt, we headed over here to eat since it was within walking distance and supposedly the food at the Tilted Kilt sucks. It was pretty empty, but we sat at the bar and ordered our food. I had the Irish dip, which is like the french dip sandwich. It came with yummy crispy fries. I also tried my friend’s monte cristo, which was probably 7,000 calories and will give you a heart attack! It was really good, but I enjoyed my entrée. This place is just like any other chain restaurant.

One word — disappointing. I went here over a year ago for lunch and now I remember why we do not frequent this place. How does it stay in business?! There were barely any customers when we got there and it took awhile for our order to be taken and served. I ordered the chicken bites and they were horrible. The batter tasted like the one you would use for fish and chips. Dipping the chicken in ketchup or ranch didn’t mask the taste. We tried the red velvet cake for dessert and it tasted like it was from the freezer section of a grocery store. We couldn’t even taste the cake because the raspberry sauce used on the plate overpowered the cake itself.

Well, you know why we are here… husband needed a monte cristo. He hasn’t had one since we lived in Maryland(we now live in Las Vegas). According to him, it has lived up to the hype! They now make it with wheat bread, so «healthier» but still tasty. Kids meals were reasonably priced. Staff was super friendly & quick on the refill.

Well, I was pleasantly surprised! I chose Bennigan’s for a group dinner tonight. I even pointed out that I didn’t think the food would be anything special, but everything else was right for us: the location, flexible seating for a group, and ample/close parking. I was happy to find a coupon on today, but then when it came time to check in on Unilocal when I arrived at Bennigan’s, a coupon for 20% the entire check(less alcohol) popped up. Even better! So, two of us had a apple-walnut salad for dinner and it was excellent. I ordered mine with light cheese and dressing(and it was perfect), and added some salmon… a very tasty and generous piece, broiled, for only $ 3 extra. It was a very satisfying dinner at a solid price. Everyone in their party enjoyed their meal… burgers, steak, pasta, and fish & chips. Why not 5 stars? Well, the restaurant is a bit lacking in ambience dept, the staff could use a little more finesse(though everyone was nice), and the restrooms could use a little sprucing up. Minor things. We’ll be back.

Fast, friendly service and they where able to handle a large party very well. With enough notice, good communication between the venue they where able to handle 10 additional people as well. The wait staff did very well. I will be going back to Bennigan’s in the future. The happy hour is good, filling and has good choices. The prices are reasonable, even after happy hour. I’ll need to try the dessert item on my next visit …

Heart-clenching, life-reducing, greasy burgers are present on the menu… aka DELICIOUS burgers are available at Bennigan’s! Extremely enjoyed our two HUGE burgers: Guinness Glazed Bacon Burger(is this a ripoff of TGI Friday’s Jack Daniel’s burger?) and the Spicy Chipotle Burger. Howeverrrrrrrrrrrr, we both ordered medium-well and only my Guinness burger was as specified. My bf’s burger was too well. =(And the Spicy shouldn’t belong in the title, didn’t even have us reaching for our waters! Nonetheless, loved our bacon, loved our crispy fried onions, loved our burgers. True, service was quite slow. But it was packed on that Friday night. It felt like a family restaurant; I saw several families with small children around our table. I sorta felt uncomfortable having a beer in front of these youngin’s. :O And oh yes, my booth I sat in was… frumpy. Is that even a word? I felt like it swallowed me and left me a midget, with my elbows on the tables leveled to my face. Oh well, good burgers!

My heart breaks on a sad day when my favorite menu item is either changed or taken off the menu. In today’s case it’s the former. My favorite French Dip has been changed! What used to be deliciously thin cut roast beef with melted cheese and au jus on the side has now turned into the«Irish Dip» that has beef sliced with American cheese(ewww) and onion strings. American cheese? Doesn’t sound very Irish to me, even for an Irish American restaurant. That kind of cheese belongs on burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches only. Period. Also the Ruben we ordered came with kettle chips/crisps when we asked for fries. Staff is still friendly but that menu change makes me want to never come back to Bennigans again. It’s a shame. :-(

I finally can check the Bennigan’s Monte Cristo off of my list. This trip was my first ever and seeing Shenanigans on ‘Waiting’ didn’t leave me with any surprises. It looked the same. The Monte Cristo was more about the deep fried breading than anything else. The fried layer is thick, crunchy and tastes like pancakes. The frying oil gave me an impression of what else was dipped that day. I got hints of onion rings, fish and chips. When dipped in the preserves, the sandwich was like a meaty donut. Within the breading the turkey, ham, Swiss and American cheese are segregated with a third slice of bread. The sandwich wedges were great. The onion rings were a little soggy.

Average food at best. The decoration reminds me of the bar in the television show«Cheers». It’s similar to the food you can find at T.G.I.F. I was also unfortunately reminded of the movie«Waiting». But I certainly hope they didn’t take any tips from the movie. Anyways, I went with a group of 12 and although we were seated quickly, they didn’t seem to take notice of us. Service was so slow! I shared a couple of plates: BBQ Ribs Platter: The full rack of bbq ribs exceeded my expectations. The meat was falling off of the bone! It was tender and cooked nicely. I would order it again if I came back to Bennigans. You can ask for more bbq sauce and it’s just as good as any bbq i’ve had! Salmon and Shrimp: Salmon was a bit dry and the shrimp was nothing spectacular. The rice was nothing out of the ordinary. It’s a dish that sounds better than it was. We also ordered the Appetizer Platter but they forgot our order or never even took it down! I heard the Monte Cristos here are really good though. I just wish I knew that before we ordered the Salmon/Shrimp.

I ended up in the area because I was getting my hair done. I was excited because my guy moved to a new spot! I got even more excited when I saw Bennigan’s as I was leaving town. I used to LOVE to go to Bennigan’s in Texas for lunch! I made my way there… Was greeted immediately and sat(good sign) The server stopped by quickly to get my drink order(an even better sign) Unfortunately, that’s where the good signs… DEADEND! I ordered the Salad I used to always get in Texas! It seemed to take forever for it to arrive. I was wishing they still had the lil stopwatch clock so I could have something to watch! LOL When it arrived it looked good.(see attached photo) I was really pleased to see how much chicken was on the salad. I took a big bite and whelp… thought I broke a tooth!(I didn’t) They’ve changed the crust /batter and the chicken is REALLY crunchy. The salad used to be served with a hot roll that was bomb… and there was nothing with it. The honey Dijon was good… The server never came back to see how I liked my food. I had to catch her to ask for a box, dressing and a check. My bill was only $ 12.81 for a Diet Soda and the salad. Which wasn’t a bad price. They had signs up saying lunch for $ 5.99 but I didn’t really see anything fitting that description and the server definitely didn’t mention it. They could do some major cleaning… and clean the window seals… and some other things. The décor looked just like the Bennigan’s in Texas. I might come back to try the Monte Cristo… but, I won’t swing by if I’m craving a salad!
