Rude owner. Gave me a milk shake instead of a milkshake. Which means he put ¾ milk and one scoop of ice cream so i paid $ 7 for a cup of milk? Rip off. Don’t spend your hard earned money here. Go to vons and buy yor own tub of icecream.

The owner denied my child a sample of ice cream because it was $ 1.31 scoop day and he barked he wasn’t making any money. I hope the 1 teaspoon of ice cream was worth it to him. We promptly left, went to another location and will never come back.

I used to come here a lot with my dad and brother for years. But more recently it’s gone down hill with the service. The owner is pretty rude when we would go in(doesn’t seem to be happy at all). Doesn’t really smile and just has this grumpy smerk on his face. The ice cream on the other hand is very good like always. I wouldn’t come back here due to the horrible service.

The owner argued vehemently about the use of a $ 5 off coupon(which was in the Carmel valley circular but he is saying he did not put it there and gave me a lecture about too many discount magazines). Horrible customer service, I hope the extra $ 5 was worth it to them, as I will not visit again.

This Carmel Valley location is situated closer to Vons now(they used to be in the more visible corner by Chase and Wells Fargo). The new location is tidy and bright. I agree the older gentleman working there can be gruff but the other day he helped prepare a birthday ice cream cake for us. There’s a nice selection of pre made ice cream cakes in their refrigerators. We didn’t see a flavor combination we wanted but the nice man said to wait because he might have that combination in the back. We were so happy when he came out with a just-prepared mint ice cream and chocolate cake roll. Prices aren’t cheap but hey, it’s Baskin Robbins right. They charge a bit more if the cake has elaborate decorations so take inventory when you’re looking for the right cake for you. The gentleman also took the time to write a longer birthday message on the cake for us which we greatly appreciated. Parking isn’t a hassle unless you go during peak lunch hours. My favorite seasonal ice cream flavor is now available(tax crunch!) so hoping to take advantage of that before it sells out :)

I had a great experience at this shop. I had called around all day looking for a gold medal ice cream cake and all the other ships were put. The other shops told me I had to order cakes 24 hours in advance but the man here offered to make me the cake with in 5 hours! So nice of him.

Extremely limited choice of ice cream, and an even worse selection of toppings. Not a family friendly location. I was very disappointed

I love ice cream, and I used to work at a Basking Robbins. So, for me BR’s ice cream serves as the standard by which I compare all other ice creams. There are many worse and there are many better. Here you will find solidly decent ice cream, with a consistently good texture, in more than 31 different flavors at any one time. They also offer a variety of other ice cream-based desserts. Normally, I would gladly give a Baskin Robbins and easy three for their tasty treats at slightly high prices. However, the owner if this particular location is a curmudgeon. He is always working there, and doesn’t seem to have any employees. I would greatly prefer a lazy teenage kid over this guy. He is simply lacking any semblance of amiable characteristics. He isn’t verbally friendly nor is he generous with his scooping or his toppings. This evening, the patron before me asked him to split a brownie sundae into two cups. He refused to do it! Instead he just kept saying that«there is no way to do that.» Please. Stop pinching pennies. I actually thought that the patron was trying to be a bit cheap as well, but the two of them facing off wasn’t going anywhere. Anyway, if you’ve never been to Baskin Robbins before, you’ll enjoy their ice cream, just don’t expect any special service at this location.

The rating is based on the service/interior and not the ice cream because obviously ice cream is awesome especially a chain as well known as BR! Decided to walk in a different direction than usual, and ended up at Baskin Robbins instead of the Del Mar Highlands Shopping Center. Been here before, but forgot why I didn’t come back :) The entrance isn’t especially welcoming, and though they were open to let me taste I felt very watched. It’s nothing like the peppy/fun atmosphere of cold stone creamery. The scoops are smaller than I expected, and found the prices are a bit steep(one scoop each in a waffle bowl was a total of $ 10). If you’re caving real ice cream in the area just go to rite aid, whose ice cream is more generous and more relaxed!

We have frequented this ice cream shop over 5 years. The owner(I think) is fairly stingy with his scoops, so we usually go to another BR if we can. The location is convenient, and maybe the only one in Carmel Valley, which is probably the only reason people come here. If there is a promotion/coupon, he will tell you he doesn’t have the flavor, or it only applies to kid scoops, etc. It’s just not pleasant, but ice cream covers a multitude of sins, and thankfully BR ice cream is consistent and tasty. Buy the prepacked ice cream and head home…

Yes, the owner is grumpy and not generous. I come here because it is the location most convenient, but I can’t stand the service or lack of… who owns an ice cream store with angry service? Aaahhh, run if you can, but take the delicious chocolate chip mint with you!

3.5 stars. This review is based more so on customer service if anything simply because you can rarely go wrong with ice cream, particularly ice cream from an ice cream chain. Got my pistachio ice cream with my sugar cone, which came out to $ 3.29. I will admit that I cannot be trusted with large amounts of food and so if I have to pay a bit more to not binge on food, then I will do it. Ice cream was refreshing on a hot day. The reason for the rating is because the man who served me seemed really unpleasant. He didn’t say anything to me, but just kept eyeing my friends and I as we decided on what we wanted. I don’t like feeling pressured. Also when I chose my flavor, he literally scooped one scoop and plopped it on my cone with no ice cream in the region where the cone actually was. I’m used to people putting ice cream in the cone and then an actual scoop of ice cream on top. Way to skimp out on the ice cream. Grumble grumble.

I got the peanut butter chocolate ice cream, which was good… but a one scoop in a dish is TINY and it was pretty expensive… Meaning I could buy the whole tub at the grocery store for what it cost me a single scoop of ice cream. Next time I’ll just head to Ralph’s.

Went to this Baskin Robbins to pick up a cake and literally no one was working. Store was totally empty! We waited and waited and finally someone appeared out of the back… What were you doing… sleeping?

ICECREAM! I’m screaming for ICECREAM! After a rather hot Thai dinner at nearby Spices, an ice cream was perfect for healng my tongue. I popped in here and reviewed the selections. Actually, they have 32 flavors. I counted. So I chose the most unnatural ice cream flavor. Why is pistachio so darned green? But it looked like it had a good amount of nuts in there and so it was my choice. Price was reasonable(a little more than $ 5 for two decent sized scoops) and it survived the journey back to my hotel intact.

I paid $ 5.69 for an Oreo Milkshake and I ended up throwing it away after 3 sips! There was an «older gentlemen» who made this milkshake for me. He put a few measly scoops of Oreo ice cream into a blender with milk. He then gave me the cup and rang me up $ 5.69! I walked away surprised that I paid so much for a size Small milkshake. As I was walking with the cup in hand, I noticed how the liquids inside were swishing back and forth like water. I took my first sip then I was disgusted! It just tasted like watered down, cold milk. I immediately threw it away and never will I spend another dime there again. Thanks for being stingy with your ice cream and maybe this«older gentlemen» needs extra training on how to make his milkshakes right.

I don’t know who owns/runs this place, but if it’s the older man who served me yesterday then damn quit your damn job and give the ownership to someone who actually cares about serving their customers with courtesy. It was clear he did not want to be there and his attitude was displeasing from the start. And damn when did the price of one scoop go up to almost 4 bucks.

The owner is cheap and not very friendly. On 31 cent scoop night he charged 15 cents for sugar cones with a cup and would not give out samples. He also does not fill up the shake cups. He makes less than will fit into a cup.

we went again last night to celebrate my daughters first day in Tae Kwon Do… so proud of her! and lucky for me… it was $ 1 scoop night. We each got a single cone… then round two… total bill $ 8! on a normal night, it would have been more than double. quick, fast service… clean environment… we got a table(only 3 available inside &1 outside). probably wouldn’t be back on any other night… too pricey for my cheap butt… i appreciate being able to treat my kids on occasion like this.

I’m not sure about the 1dollar scoop policy in San Diego. But in another city that I lived in every Tuesday was dollar scoop. So my friends and I came here to get dollar scoop ice cream! We went in, there was one couple before us. And we still weren’t completely sure if it was dollar scoop or not. When it was our turn, I asked the guy at the cashier(I think he’s the boss) about it. He said it’s only a dollar with the coupon that they send out. We didn’t have any coupons, and we saw the regular price for a kids’ scoop was $ 2.19 and decided it was very worth it, so we were going to leave. The boss said, «You guys came out to get dollar scoop? Okay, I’ll find you a coupon.» and gave us coupons for it. He was very kind and very professional. I really appreciated it, I mean it wasn’t a big deal, but it was very nice of him to do that! Customer service: A+ And you know if the boss is kind, usually the same type of service is reflected from his employees too. So be sure to check out this place, they’ll treat you well!
