Came across this place upon walking that 2-mile path between San Clemente State Beach and the pier. If you’re thirsty, out of sunscreen, or hungry this place is conveniently here for your needs. Don’t be surprised that their menu is overpriced. I paid $ 8 for Ben & Jerry’s bar of ice cream and a corn dog. That’s about $ 4 each. I would say the only item on their menu that’s worth the price they set is their soft serve ice cream. I watched them serve a guy his $ 4 soft serve cone and it was was HUGE! That amount equals its price. Service was friendly and they were quick to solve their mistake when they gave my friend cheese fries instead of the chili cheese fries she ordered.

Calafia Beach Café is there for you in a pinch. I was dying of thirst after a surf session at the point and let’s face it, this is your only option on the coast for miles around so the $ 2.00’s worth of ice cold Gatorade was clutch post-surf. The staff are friendly and accepted my wet bills. They offer public bathrooms in the event you are desperate enough to brave public beach bathrooms and there are tons of kooks from the square states and the Midwest for wonderful people watching. You know what Calafia Beach Café? You are A-Okay.

Swimming = Hunger and do to limited parking in demand at San Clemente State beach this was the place to grab my kids a bite to eat. From shaved ice to fries to burgers and hot dogs they definitely have many options for all the beach goers. The hamburger was shockingly delicious and full of flavor with fresh ingredients for this type of establishment, sorry for doubting this place but yes it was so good. The fries also really fresh and delicious and went well with the burger. Also must son have the shaved ice a thumbs up, as he devoured his cool treat in no time and didn’t mind the couple of brain freezes he experienced in the process. If you’re like me and come Ill prepared to the beach this little café is a life saver, with great food, great service and super clean with plenty of tables and benches around to enjoy your food or if you prefer to eat at the beach it is only a couple of feet away.

This convenient café is just steps from the beach parking lot and has blue-tiled tables with built-in seats and public restrooms adjacent. There are quite a few selections for hot dogs, burgers, wraps, and good choices for tasty Hawaiian shaved ices $ 5.25, vanilla chocolate or swirl soft serve cones about 5−6″ high, or bottled iced coffees $ 3.50. Lines may be longer on weekend but service was decent and desserts were refreshing after riding a couple miles down the Coastal Trail. Check it out when you’re at the beach!
