All in all, a pretty tasty place. I was a little disappointed in the grilled cheese bbq sandwich. I was expecting sliced brisket in it but it was chopped beef. And the sandwich wasn’t as thick as the picture. I also had the mac & cheese. That was very good, although I think it would be better with brisket in it instead of sausage. I was watching the other orders coming out vof the kitchen and was wishing I had ordered the brisket sandwich with slaw on it. That looked really good. I’m gonna go back and try thyat one.

It was very very good!!! I got the brisket sandwich the bun was good and brisket was flavorful. I added a side of potato salad it was good also but I a little heavier than usual potato salad. There was bacon and other stuff in it… It was delish. My husband got a side of beans and Mac n cheese. Beans were ok but Mac and cheese was amazing ! Fast friendly service too!!!

I’ve been to the Smoke Shack food truck once and their permanent location a few times for lunch and have had it catered at work. I think the best meat is the brisket, but I’ve also enjoyed the turkey and sausage. Honestly, I think the best deal with great taste is the mac n cheese that comes with the brisket on top! Their mac n cheese is amazing. It normally comes with little bits of brisket in it, even as a side. I did love their potato salad, but one time I got it and it was completely frozen. That turned me off and I haven’t been able to order it again. The spicy cream corn is amazing though so they’ve redeemed themselves in my eyes!

Fantastic BBQ. Get the 3 meat plate. The bbq brisket was my favorite. The turkey was very good as well.

Yup, that’s some really good barbecue. It didn’t change my life, but it did make it better for a bit. Have been back a few times. Never caught ‘em on a bad day. Not a very comfortable spot to eat, I will say that.

Great BBQ especially for a drive up shack. :-). Always busy for a reason. Good pepper style sauce and very moist brisket.

The first thing I read in the reviews was the crazy long lines. Not the case in my experience, I showed up around one and there was one couple in front of me. I asked what the lady who was serving recommend, she said ribs and brisket so that’s what I got. This«shack» can compete with any BBQ place in San Antonio. The ribs fell off the bones and the brisket had just the right amount of marbling. The price was around 12.00 including the drink but the portions are larger than any BBQ place I have seen, you can take enough home for another meal. Don’t pass up the spicy cream corn, its unique and awesome.

These men brought their truck outside to a neighborhood event, where they vended some extremely delicious offerings. The miniature sliders are a great value, and taste fresh and flavorful. The owners are favorable, and in the event that you are hosting an event, I strongly recommend getting connected with all the Smoke Shack to have them bring their truck!

Excellent. Really very very good. I have been disappointed in the meals I’ve gotten in San Antonio so far. And even the other BBQ places I’ve been to I haven’t been very happy with. But here — I have nothing but good things to say. I had the dark chicken, pulled pork, and brisket with potato salad and creamed corn. Every bite was delicious. What more can you say. Even the strawberry lemonade was awesome — made with real strawberries(you can tell by the seeds in the bottom of the container). I hope I get the chance to come back before I leave!

Some of the best BBQ you can eat. My favorite is the pulled pork sliders. The macNcheese is amazing! You have to try this place!

Before we took our road trip across the southern part of the US, I researched all the places I wanted to stop to eat. In Texas I knew that I wanted to try BBQ since that is what they are known for. I came across The Smoke Shack which looked really cool. I liked the idea of eating sliders so you can try different meats and you can get a combo of 2 sliders that come with 2 sides of your choice. I ordered a turkey slider, a pork slider with the smoke mac n’ cheese and coleslaw sides. I enjoyed the turkey slider more than the pork(I felt the pork was a little dry), although the sauce they use and soft rolls(not sure if they are made in-house) were great. Loved the smoke mac n’ cheese with sausage in it(Ate my portion and about half of my husbands haha). I appreciate the idea of them making a different kind of coleslaw without the mayonaise and with the addition of some feta cheese, but I wasn’t the biggest fan. We arrived just as they were about to close, so we felt really lucky we were able to try the food. If I went back, I would reorder the turkey and try the sausage instead of the pork. We came with really high standards as we have an EXCELLENT Texas BBQ place(El Tejano) in Buenos Aires whose owner is from Austin. Had I not been accustomed to that food I would have probably given this food truck 5 stars. Next to the Smoke Shack is an espresso truck, which is great to have after your meal. I didn’t try the espresso, but my husband said it was really good.

Had to have BBQ before we headed back to the Midwest. Thought we would check it out after consulting Unilocal. We split the special-choice of 1 meat, 2 sides and drink. We had the pulled pork. It was tender and really good! We also had the coleslaw-that was just meh– and the spicy creamed corn that was really DELISH! Generous portions. Location is a bit crazy, right off the 410. Being out of Towners, we took it to go and ate in nearby MacArthur Park. Friendly service. I’d go back.

Now here is some extremely great bbq! Pulled pork sliders with cole slaw on top was delightful! Even the buns were better than normal. Trailer food is actually coming around, eventually, in SA! I will definitely return. Oh, you can find them located in the corner of Nacog/New Braun, southwest corner, at what was once a gas station parking lot.

I am a bit biased coming from Austin, the Mecca of BBQ. I had been researching the«best» BBQ in San Antonio and consistently saw The Smoke Shack on many lists — and read that it won many local awards. First, I love the food truck vibe. Again, this could be my Austin roots showing through. The trailer is cool and rustic. Definitely promotes the BBQ feel. I was a bit surprised when I saw the actual smoker. The square, box set-up threw me off. I ordered brisket, pulled pork, sausage and ribs. Alas… The brisket was immensely fatty. Fatty as in half of each slice was pure, greasy fat. I paid by weight and that was frustrating. It was somewhat tender, but lacked a real smokiness. The bark was decent. The pulled pork was dry and chewy. Little flavor at all. The ribs were absolutely terrible. Unbelievably tough and the sweetness was way overdone. I had to pull hard to get the meat to release from the bone. Simply bad. The sausage was ok. Standard BBQ stand quality. Needless to say, I was super bummed when leaving. I’ll continue my quest for good BBQ in San Antonio. I’ve been ruined by the likes of Franklin, Mueller and La Barbecue. They set the bar too high, I guess.

This is the gem of the city for brisket. It is a must go to for lunch in San Antonio. Don’t let this place slip by you. This place is the number one place to go for brisket. And, their sauce hit the spot as well. I purchased a pound of their brisket with some of their corn and it was beyond spectacular. I wished I had bought more. It’s soooooooo freaking good.

I love this place! Smoke Shack has been my go-to place for BBQ every time I’ve been to San Antonio! I’ve tried several others that are high rated on Unilocal, including Big Bib… but Smoke Shack beats them all out easily. Location is better maintained, tables are clean, facility is nice, and décor is just right. At other BBQ places, they tend to be worn down and sometimes difficult to find tables to sit at. I’ve never had that issue at Smoke Shack. They are super efficient in getting people through the line. Lines have never been too long, and when it is on the longer side, I’ve always gotten my food within 10 – 15 minutes of arriving. Service is also good with polite workers that smile and ask for your order. They will even check up on you, ask if you want some self-serve side condiments located by the teas and even offer to pick some up for you. Even though it’s not technically waiter/waitress service, they still come by to clear your table as you finish your food which is nice. Tables have also always been clean and well-wiped. There is a good variety of beverages ranging from local beers to imported beers to sodas and sweet tea(sugar cane and unsweetened) galore. For $ 15, I got the two meat plate(pulled pork and brisket) with an added sausage link and rib! My two sides were mac and cheese and corn cheese(YUM!). Ohhh the cheese corn… oh man, the perfect amount of spices, corn sweetness, and creamy cheese… drooooools! Meat is moist and I personally really enjoy the brisket. The sausage link wasn’t extraordinary – but it was spicy piping hot juicy goodness – just what I expect of a sausage at most places. The rib was smokey, moist and not crazy seasoned – it didn’t really fall off the bone, but it was still great. I also love the smoke shack mac($ 5) consisting of creamy mac and cheese topped with loads of chopped brisket. Tip: Try a bit of everything! Order the a la carte to get a bit of everything too much cost

Stumbled upon this place while looking for Theory coffee. Luckily, they are both in the same lot. I only bought one rib to taste and it was a beaut. The rib was very meaty, trimmed perfectly, and only lightly smoked. I hate when bbq has a ton of smoke like at some of the lockhart places. The rib was so tender that you don’t need teeth to eat it. Just gum it. I can tell that once it smokes it is then finished in foil or butcher paper to slightly steam. Well, guess what: Aaron Franklin, the best pitmaster in the country(voted) does the same thing. The server was very polite and the manager gave me a sample of fatty brisket, and it was succulent and delicious. I don’t see any reason to go to the Big Bib and all those crowds and smaller portions as long as this place is here for us. I can’t wait to try a full rack of those award-winning ribs. crumbs: — bbq sauce on the brisket sucked, but the carmelized sauce on the ribs was tasty

4 ½ Stars. Good smoked BBQ is difficult to finy in Southern California so I was excited to vacation in San Antonio BC having visited Texas BBQ in the past. This location happend to be a portable trailer that arrives here daily until 3:00 pm and is located at an abandoned gas station. The credit card machine was down so it as cash only thiis day. I ordered the 3 meat combo — smoked turkey, ribs, tri tip, potato salad and Mac & cheese. The BBQ was all smoked and tender and the sides were both yummy. The portion generous for what was charged and enough food for two to share. The two sauces were both yummy one had a dijon mustard mixed and the other was sweeter. I requested my meats dry and sauces to the side. Service from the gal at the counter was sweet and friendly. They had no dessertsoffered here — to bad. BTW they now have a restaurant open nearly if you can’t arrive by 3:00 pm Great to enjoy solid BBQ again!
