Thursday night is the night to go. Dave and Crystal are both expert mixologists — great Old Fashioned and Moscow Mule. Pop up restaurant Chunky Salsa is on site Thursdays. Both Big Red Brisket and Poblano Chicken are a revelation. Prices for cocktails and beer more than reasonable. Great Neighborhood bar vibe. Will be back often. Live music as well– open mic night on Thursday

J&O’s, even though it has only been around for a few years, seems like an integral part of the local neighborhood. The drinks are strong and affordable, the bartenders are very friendly, and the regular clientele are cheery and welcoming. The entire place just has a terrific feel to it, and one that makes you want to stick around for just one more round every time. I have yet to hear music there, but it gets good reports from those in the know. They also have an excellent happy hour. My only criticism, and it is a very minor one, is that the place is a bit brightly-lit for a bar. Perhaps they can turn down the chandelier a bit from«FBI interrogation» to «comfortable glow» :)

Solid bar w/a friendly bartender that is knowledgeable about his beer selection. I went to see a specific performer on a Wed night and another performer was there that did a different musical genre. Not cool as some of us travel to see someone specific or hear a specific type of music. I guess because there were so few people in the bar, the owner didn’t see it as a big issue, but for the one guy siting there that would write a Unilocal review, it was. So instead of 4 or 5 stars, I’ve got to knock it down(and probably could have been –2 stars, but the bartender was nice).

A cool neighborhood bar! This place has a good vibe, with plenty of seating and a little stage for Open Mic Night or for a band. The drinks are cheap and cold. Their beer list is limited, but they do have cold Lone Star, so I’m happy! One of my favorite things about this bar is that they have an art policy that you can bring your own artwork, tack it up on the wall, and take someone else’s! Sweet! The art does seem eclectic, like someone is taking advantage of this policy. They are right next to Taco Haven, so you’re in Taco Country here! Taco Haven delivers for no fee straight to this place! Parking can be a bit difficult, but there’s parking behind the building for Taco Haven. The outdoor seating is not sufficient, with just a few tables out front.

Went here for an open mic night my friend Jordan hosted. Reasonable drink prices, friendly staff. A very warm and friendly atmosphere. Hipster territory but despite my common appearance everyone was chill and I had a great time. I will definitely go back again.

Great little place hidden away in downtown San Antonio. This area is beginning to develop like Rainey Street up in Austin. Great atmosphere, great priced drinks, and local live bands and music. A great local lounge/bar. And you can apparently order food from Taco Haven(legit taco joint a couple of doors down), and they deliver to the bar. Score! I’ll be back.

I have to agree with just about everything Eugene L. has to say about this place. I recently went to eat at Bite located next door and afterward was looking to grab a drink. When I walked by it was not crazy busy, but it was early on a Friday evening. The drinks were not expensive and good. The environment was relaxing… they had a two man guitar and bass combo playing that was at the right level to still talk to people. I will be going back soon. Defiantly a place to stop while in Southtown.

Oh my I think I just found a new watering hole I’d like to consider a second home for me even though I live quite a distance away and it’s name is J&O’s Cantina! I came here one Friday night to see an old friend of mine from high school perform with his band Notorious Sinners. To make things even better I also ran into a couple of fellow graduates from the same high school as well. It’s housed in a location that was used to be Bunz Burgers next door to Taco Haven and across the street from Bubblehead. It’s cramped inside so it’s tough to find an empty seat but the acoustics are awesome so you won’t have a hard time hearing the musicians’ performance. Service is friendly and the drinks are cheap.

Wonderful cozy lounge with Live Original and Cover Music. Taco Haven, next door, will deliver your favorite Mexican food. Dave behind the bar and his wife Amy are the best. The patrons are friendly and the beer is ice cold! Parking is plentiful and there is No Cover…
