Def need to come with some buddies and sample the in-house brews. Nice to bring some fun down south! I believe they host a cross-fit every other saturday.

Great place to hang out and have some truly delicious beers. Freetail has really bulked up their production and their brewery on the south side of town is a cool, laid back place to hang out on the weekend if you are a fan of craft beer. They normally have a food truck outside for some eats.

Alas, the ominous day when I fail to give a brewery a five star rating. First probable red flag: nearly empty on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, with the exception of a bridal party. Really. The taproom is vibrant and has so much potential. Graffiti is tattooed along each and every crevice, including on the picnic tables. You can sense the history of Freetail, young or old. They have your standard board games and a popcorn cart for the grazers. Unfortunately, I really was not impressed with the beer selection at all. At $ 4 for a flight of 4 tasters, Piñata Protest and Bat Outta Helles were the easiest to drink. The prices are consistent with your typical brewery. I can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t enjoy myself as much here as I have at other breweries. There just wasn’t much happening. If there was music playing, I couldn’t remember it. I think the taproom as well as the beers are very much forgettable.

Got here a bit late(close to closing), the staff were friendly despite arriving close to closing time, and they didn’t waiver at getting me some delicious libations. I’ve been to a bunch of breweries and this place was not expensive, which was awesome, unfortunately I got in late and couldn’t stay super long to enjoy the place.

Freetail brewery was a lot of fun, great beer and good atmosphere. The staff was a little odd, yet mostly friendly. Beer is sold individually, like at a bar, instead of using a chip system so it’s a bit more expensive. The brewery offered free popcorn, but we really needed a food option, so we used the Favor app. The brewery offered several board games to play.

Excellent! We ended up taking home a growler full of beer – it was that good. The cheese by bread and pizza was delicious(& I’m from Chicago!). Service was great and the décor was awesome.

This place is such a find! Fantastic beers at dirt cheap prices! All pints $ 4 and 4-taster flights $ 4…say what?! I could do some damage here… especially on my Austin beer budget! Highly recommend the Komorebi… for real, this beer is beergasmic! Solid with sweetness on the front palate, belgian yeast in the middle palate, and the tang of being aged in mezcal barrels on the finish. Also recommend the #whalezbro, which is complex as well… I promise you will thank me! The Witicus is very true to style! I also dug the space and the staff here… they are super nice and hooked me up w/some samples(if you are a hop-head try the Cask Dry-hopped Oktoberfiesta… it is beautifully aromatic and so smooth w/just enough hops to give you the piney bite without the regret)! I can see myself making a detour here everytime I’m in SA!

2nd time I’ve been here and I continue to be impressed by their brew selection. There are plenty of screens for football games so it’s the perfect place for a beer and a great pizza during a game. Definitely a great place for a casual date.

Friday was a blast! The good folks that work at Freetail were friendly and so were the guests. A ton of people played Double Vision on the large picnic tables and everyone got a detailed tour of the brewery. They even had a disc gold basket where you could win a free pint if you sank a putt. Great place, great people, I highly recommend this place. No worries about parking if you get there late, there’s plenty. They also have a food truck on standby.

This is the best local beer in SA hands down. I’m hooked, and glad they added a second location. Very informative tour, and looking forward to big things from this group.

pretty nice lil setup here, brewery/bar. samplers of some of their most popular ales and styles along with flavored syrup shots that mix surprisingly well and doesn’t overpower the beer instead the accentuate it in such a manner… graffiti on the walls along with wooden kegs everywhere complete the ambiance that im sure they were going for. they also do tours throughout the week so be sure to catch that as well

I’m always checking out local craft breweries wherever I go and Freetail Brewing was a wonderful find in San Antonio. Since it was a weeknight, it wasn’t very busy… well, aside from the large group of gals and guys who showed up with yoga mats. Umm, yep, that was definitely a surprise to me, but they all went into the sizable brewery space and had a complete workout session. Talk about an interesting and cool use of space with post-workout refreshment only a room away! I on the other hand was there to sample and sample I did with two separate flights of their varied brews(IPAs, lagers, witbiers, brown ale), all of which I enjoyed at one of the picnic tables covered in doodles and writing of varied marker colors, courtesy of previous visitors. My two favorites consisted of the Bat Outta Helles lager and Witicus Double Rye Wit. The most interesting brew was the Piñata Protest, which had a bit of a spicy post-sip kick to it. As per usual, upon paying my bill to the helpful and friend bartender, I decided to purchase one of their glasses in the shape of a beer can instead of the standard pint, which will be a nice addition to my ever-expanding cupboard.

I visited last weekend and found some of the best craft beers around. I had Soul Doubt IPA and the others in the party had Bat Outta Hell. I visited thinking there was bar food, but it’s strictly fine beer. I love this place.

As a fan of Freetail, I knew I had to come to their Southtown Brewing station and come check out the brewing hours. Unlike the restaurant style they feature off of 1604, this is solely about the beer. The hours are more towards the afternoon/evening, so make sure you check ahead of time to see if they’re open. They do have special hours for First Fridays which is a major plus. With a distinct variety of Freetail beers available you won’t be disappointed. I loved the graffiti art amongst all the walls and all the details that went into them. If you are wanting a «behind the scenes» look don’t miss their free tours of the brewery. When I went on Friday they had one promptly at 5:00pm and the staff went around each table letting patrons know. Their picnic tables are all tagged up with signatures and art of people who have visited. Gives it some unique flair in my eyes. This is a great place to bring someone who claims they have seen it all in San Antonio. I can’t wait to come back with my friends and knock a few great tasting beers.

Big area. Not expensive beers. Tried 2 beers and loved them. Bartenders were nice and helpful. Parking space. Really like the decoration.

It took me 3 months, but I finally got over here. What to say? It’s a brewery with tastings and a tour. if you like Freetail’s beer, you’ll like their taproom. More specifics? About 10 beers on tap, including two only available here and 1 other that’s not available anywhere else yet. Freetail has a good variety of beers, from a fairly light lager to a full-bodied stout(made with chiles) and including a hibiscus and ginger beer that was actually drinkable. The only drawback was I couldn’t have the La Muerta in a growler. The tour was one of the better ones I’ve taken, as it was given by Freetail’s head brewer(Jason? I think). I will definitely be back.

I have been eagerly waiting for this place to open for awhile now, now it is here! It is a welcome addition to the South Town area, just over the railroad tracks. The Freetail Brewing Co. is the latest brewpub to throw its name in the hat of businesses in this locale. Its new location from the Northside brings a new wind with it. It breaths life into an area where pawnshops and HEB once resided.
It is unapologetically hip but not pretentious. The exterior is industrial and from the outside you can see their brewing tanks. There are parking spaces but it is along an unpaved pathway. The interior is spacious and very welcoming. The taste room has picnic style seating benches, and a decent number of taps to match. Along the walls they have places where you can drink, in the event the room is full. If you go solo, with a group or couple you will be fine. On the walls they have cool murals painted, one was with a, «Day of the Dead» theme. The décor is sleek but edgy. Even the sign that has their tap selection is art in itself. I surveyed their list and settled on” La Muerta”, a seasonal imperial stout they offer. There is ample space to order your beer. The counter is three servers wide. The servers and service is excellent. If you are uncertain of which style to choose they will give you a sample. Since this business is predicated on brewing they do offer tours. If you get a wristband the owners will explain the process in which they brew their beers. For me just taking it all in it can be overwhelming. All your senses will be definitely stimulated. It is a stark contrast of places in town I have gone to, maybe a bit more busy. It is a realization of those places, times a thousand. And yet it left me feeling missing a personal touch. It seems like you could easily get lost here, once it is booming. Everywhere it seems like music is blaring over their speakers. The restrooms are immaculate, but for the size of the place they could be a little bigger. The prices for beers are reasonable but certainly not cheap. My pour came out to $ 8, a price that certainly matches the quality of the tap. However, it was served in a plastic cup which for me, defeats the whole purpose. In addition I believe they sell and fill growlers. They also carry other Freetail merchandise like t-shirts, glassware, etc. I did enjoy my experience here. The service is excellent. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. The lines for drinks are kept to a minimum. The brewery tours are a nice touch. But I like my brewpubs with a little more grit. I’d like to see more interaction by the staff and higher ups with patrons. There is an authenticity and energy in the consummation of that. It’s no secret that San Antonio is growing. The newest location by the Freetail Brewing Co. speaks volumes as to the direction this city is going or can become. Brewing companies, for example like Karbach and the Jester King have helped to solidify the relevance of those respective cities. And I believe the Freetail Brewing Co. has the potential to do the same with our town as well.
