Surprising, in a word. A random dive restaurant in the middle of «Lil’ Mexico» in Taylorsville. I was leery of this place at first, but my desire for home cooked, Authentic Mexican food drove me in. Upon entering, you’ll find a well lit dining room, complete with two TVs: one plays Telenovela and the other is dedicated to soccer. The décor is very colorful; tables seemed clean. We were served fresh, delicious chips and salsa, not the bottled stuff you’ll find in some of the Mexican restaurants in the valley. The menu is large, boasting safe favorites like chicken fajitas, carne asada burritos, and steak tacos. But the beautiful thing about the menu is it has authentic dishes to share, like Molcajete, a large boiling stone bowl of seasoned broth, cooking a huge helping of steak, chicken, shrimp, and cheese. It is topped with fire roasted jalapeños and sweet bulb onions. My husband and I ordered one… It could have fed at least one more person, if that person were a hefty eater. The flavor of the meat and seafood was good; even better when dipped in the broth it is cooked in. The broth itself was rather salt-laden, but worked for the meat.(Just don’t drink it). Speaking of drinks, there isn’t any alcohol– this was probably our biggest complaint about the place. I’ll come back to try the other authentic dishes. So if you’re looking for a little something out of the ordinary, you might enjoy it. Nothing like a fun adventure in TVille. P. S. Name of the Business is actually changed to Super Taco Mex.
