For a tiny post office, they serve a lot of people, and serves them fast. And the people working here are super nice. The location is super pretty and cool too. I love the art deco architecture /style.

actually mailed some mail in the mailboxes in front of this post office. there’s one on each side of the street., it was years ago though. one needs to get out of the car to drop the mail in the box or roll down the passenger side window and drop the mail into the protruding shute. still beats oaktown which is quite barren of mailboxes lately.

I have had more problems with this office and being in a small town, one would think it would be easier. Problems began in November when my mail wasn’t being delivered. After a week without mail, and not receive a credit card statement, I called & spoke with Lisa and although she began with being helpful, did not end that way. I asked if their was a possibility that my mail was being forwarded since another person in my building moved out and her name began with a RO and my did, as well. I was told no, and that the system didn’t work that way. Then I was told that my mail was being held, and possibly forwarded due to the other person’s forwarding — the letter carrier thought the business was closed — rather then actually walking in and asking. No apology was made, and in fact, an attitude was given because somehow«it’s the system’s fault»…so I was told. Wait a week or two, for things that were forwarded — those will have a yellow sticker — I was told. Nothing ever showed up with a yellow sticker and in fact, mail started slowly arriving again. They were holding my mail, simple as that, because my letter carrier made an assumption about my business, rather then walk in or actually do his job to deliver mail to my address unless otherwise notified. Fast forward to this week. I received a notice that a delivery attempt was made(1st attempt box was checked) so I assumed another attempt would be made since no other boxes were checked. Worked all day yesterday 9−7pm and nothing. So today, went on-line to check package, and it said it was delivered on the day I received the notice. So I bother my neighboring business, which stop their work, to look for a package for me. Nothing. So I call the Post Office — again get Lisa. Her attitude changed from helpful to curt when she pulls up my address(I’m sure they made notes last time of our conversation) and then I was told, it was delivered — I express how I checked with neighbors and how I was closed on Wednesday, so it couldn’t have been, is there any further information? She tells me to hang on and comes back with — The letter carrier made a mistake by saying it was delivered, and should have said«attempt was made». I said I received a notice saying 1st attempt, but I worked all day yesterday and another attempt wasn’t made. Lisa informed me that after a 1st attempt, they take the package back and hold it for 10 days, and if they don’t hear from you, they’ll either call or try again. I asked how the average person is suppose to know that when they don’t inform us of this. No answer. I then made a suggestion to have a box that says, «please call to schedule delivery» since 1st attempt with every other delivery service means a 2nd and 3rd will also be made. I got the polite blow off of, «I’ll pass it along»…with a tone of lack of understanding. Thanks St. Helena Post Office, you’ve been more then helpful — NOT!
