My group didn’t have a great experience at Barnett’s. Upon arrival, we could not find anyone in the vineyard and building for our tasting and had to call a number before finally finding the host. Once seated, the host appeared disinterested like she did not want to be there. We ended up really enjoying two red wines and began filling out forms to order some and also considered joining the wine club. Then, she excused herself when a friend of hers arrived, and we ended up by ourselves in the tasting room waiting for her come back, which was incredibly rude. She never did come back to check on us. We then walked around trying to find her and could not so we could pay for our tasting. We went outside, took photos and waited even longer before having to leave for another tasting without buying the wine we wanted. Terrible customer service and sadly we will not be going back despite really enjoying two of the reds we were going to buy several bottles of. UPDATE: The GM has reached back out to us and helped resolve this issue, which we greatly appreciate.

I am a member here and have had mixed experiences with visiting. Barnett wine is good, but the culture is pretentious and the customer service is lacking. During our most recent visit to Barnett, which is extremely out of the way up a long, narrow, and winding road, we were literally ignored(not greeted, not acknowledged, not looked at) by two separate sales reps – the only ones on the grounds. It was extremely awkward. We left after spending almost an hour driving two and from and were not offered even a hello, let alone a taste of wine. Did I say awkward?

Beautiful winery with great wine. The view is spectacular. We brought home a bottle of the Rattlesnake. Because, how could we not?

Allow plenty of time to drive up and down the mountain it can take a while. A long drive up the mountain to a beautiful location. The tasting is very informal and with a little background given on the wines you taste. It did not last very long and then we were left to spend time on the property on our own. Next time I would skip the tasting and purchase a nice bottle to enjoy on the grounds so you can maximize your time enjoying the view from the top of the mountain. The tastings are $ 100 per couple and ours did not count towards our purchase of wine. I would love to learn more about the winery and expect to be on your own after the brief tasting. Cheers.

I called on request of my clients, and the winery was able to fit us in on very short notice! For a tour and tasting, as a driver that makes my day! Kevin was the host, of the whole day of wine tastings, this was the best, the views, friendliness, the experience, and the wine was delicious, you’re on my short list Thank you Andre Scott/executive car service Napa valley!

Kevin was great. He is knowledgable and really seems to enjoy his work. His golden named«Gus» is one of the highlights of the property. We ended up having a private tour which made it even better. The winery itself is small and has beautiful views of the valley. The wine is excellent and we highly recommend visiting Barnett Vineyards.

We had SUCH an AMAZING experience here! It was fun to be visiting on a slightly rainy day because it was so cool & refreshing … and I could wear my boots! Rattlesnake, Rattlesnake, Rattlesnake! The kind you drink. If you get the chance to taste or purchase please, please do you will not be sorry! Our private tasting with Kevin was amazing & he was such a gracious host. Just kept pouring for us. I so appreciate because I hate rushing through tastings just to get to the next. I loved exploring the caves, vineyards & playing with the pets. Oops too much wine I forgot their names! Can’t wait to go back!

Recommended by a friend and upon arrival was greeted by Nicole G. of Barnett. I was impressed of the hospitality the easy going laid back professional attitude and just over all feel. I like wine, as my life is surrounded by it. I live in Napa and it is refreshing to drink good wine in a relaxed and beautiful setting as Barnett. I am in the Industry so I suggest you call to make an appointment. But once you taste you will want the wine its that good so try the Chardonnay & Cabernet, and they suggest other good wineries in the Spring Mountain District. So trust them. Cheers Deano! Thank you Nicole for a FANTASTIC wine experience today. The Barnett wines are as delicious as they have always been. We so enjoyed our private wine tasting experience in the wine caves today. As others have shared, the views on Spring Mountain are spectacular. We will keep coming and keep enjoying their wines. Can’t wait for the Rattlesnake to ship and excited to taste the Merlot as well.

Beautiful location! If you can get a private tasting here I would def check it out. We loved every wine we tasted and the view was amazing. It’s a bit of a drive to get to the winery, but it’s gorgeous once you get up there.

We were staying at Mille Vigne nearby and wanted to stop at a winery before heading out of St. Helena. Our innkeeper called Barnett to see if we could stop in for a quick tasting with our dog. Fortunately, they were open and not quite busy yet on a Sunday, so we quickly went over. We were told that we could bring our dog over the phone, unfortunately, when we got there, the person at the tasting room said that the winery dogs don’t get along with other dogs, so we couldn’t have our pup with us. We did stay to taste, but didn’t take full advantage of walking the grounds because we kept checking in on our dog. My husband doesn’t drink reds anymore unfortunately, so it worked out for me to taste the reds while he was with the dog. The tasting itself was really nice. I believe I had 4 pours(1 white, 3 reds). We were able to taste overlooking the vineyards; it is a very picturesque spot in front of the wine cave. The person pouring for us was very nice and knowledgeable of the wines. She also took us through the wine cave and gave us some info when I asked if we could go in there. The wines were very good and we ended up getting the 2011 Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2011 Tina Marie Vineyard Pinot Noir. The tasting fee was waived since we purchased 2 bottles. I’d recommend Barnett to anyone looking for some really nice reds.

I can’t say enough about this place. Amazing wine. Beautiful scenery. Glorious staff. Fun times. If you’re looking for a glorious winery to visit while you’re in Napa, do yourself a favor and go here. Also, treat yourself and buy a lot of their wine. It’s delicious.

Having heard that Barnett Vineyards was a fairly exclusive winery, I was crossing my fingers for an afternoon opening when I called Saturday morning. The conversation went something like, «We can just barely squeeze you in with our last tasting at 3. Does that work? Okay I’ve got you down for 2 people at 3 today. Oh, and it’ll be $ 40/person. See you then!» *click* *head still spinning* «Wait, what? Did she just say $ 40/person?!»… Because this gated vineyard requires reservations, to be granted access you have to accept the tasting fee. Don’t let the price tag fool you: they only say that to attract serious wine-tasters to their vineyard. Once you’re there, they don’t charge anywhere near that fee — a fee that can be completely waived with purchase. And, my friend, you’ll want to purchase. Of the 7 wines sampled, I declared 4 of them to be the best wines of the day. And yes, there were a lot of different wines that day. Their Sauvignon Blanc(not too tart), the Chardonnay(not too oaky, more French-style), the Cyrus Ryan Cabernet, and finally the best wine of the day(and their signature bottle), the Rattlesnake Cabernet. With so many amazing options, there’s no doubt that this is the winery that you’ll want to buy from. Barnett also offers some of the best views in Napa — the ideal place to end the day. Best of all, we were the last of the day so we were sent home with all of the opened tasting bottles. On that day, I was certainly seeing the glass, or I should say bottle, as half-full.

In my most recent visit, Barnett upped the tasting fees to $ 30-$ 40 per person. Yikes!!! I guess all the good word of mouth caught up to them. Definitely knocks a star off the rating, but it’s still a knockout visit.

My Dad and I made the trek up to Barnett about a month ago. They were Great people! Very helpful, friendly… And, the WINE! E X C E L L E N T experience! Make sure you make an appointment, and don’t worry… You will eventually make it up that mountain. Well worth the drive out of the valley.

I first discovered this wine while on a business trip to New Orleans(before Katrina), was having dinner at Delmonico’s and when looking at the wine list(favoring new vs. old world), the sommelier turned my direction to a merlot from Barnett, after drinking all 3 bottles they had on stock(yes I shared), I vowed to track them down when I got back. That was 10+ years ago. Barnett was my introduction to Spring Mountain wines and once you drink from the mountain it’s hard to come down and drink anything else(don’t get me wrong there are spots on the valley floor that make good bug juice too). The property is amazing, small and family owned, the staff are generous with their time and knowledge(seek out Kevin) and the wines speak for themselves. Beside their merlot, try the Cabs(Rattlesnake is their top shelf and its worth splurging on a bottle or two), the whites are good too but I am a red guy. They have a couple of pinots you need to taste, look for the Tina Marie it’s a great example of russian river wine. The chardonnay is traditional and the sauvignon blanc sometimes tastes like bubble gum. Drink Up!

Do you want to get away from it all? Up for a drive, albeit the last 15minutes will be a little bit winding. Fancy yourself sitting on a private deck overlooking an expansive valley of vineyards with a generous pour in your glass and feet propped up? Then this might be the place… small, intimate, stunning. Whether you’re savoring their Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay or daydreaming of what lfe is like as a talented young winemaker you will not soon forget this vineyard. My most recent visit left me wanting the Rattlesnake Cab(sold out) so I settled on David’s alternate suggestion of the Cyrus Ryan instead as a gift for a friend. Don’t come here expecting a quick tasting and to leave empty handed. Come because you want to be educated about the small lots that they are known for, come because you appreciate the art of passionate wine making. Do yourself a favor and(don’t tell too many people) just go, make sure you call first as appointments are private and you can tell Kevin that Sarah sent you.
