This 4th R Program is run by the City of Sacramento and located on the Sutterville Elementary School campus. They have a fantastic staff on site. My son enjoys everyone here. They have a couple of full-time adult staff and about 18 high school to college age staff. All of the staff seem to know all of the kids and all of the parents which is very comforting. The program is run out of two portable classroom buildings. They are able to separate Kindergarteners into one building for age appropriate activities and as a break from older kids. They also provide snacks a couple times a day. Although when my son was in kindergartner it was nice to know he got to very comfortable with older kids. They are open almost every school day including holiday breaks from about 7am-6pm. They will walk the younger children to class, pick them up after class, and deliver them to and from various after school activities. They share the campus fields, playgrounds and bathrooms with the school site. At the moment the bathrooms are the only downside. The school itself only has one set of bathrooms. So 4th R staff must escort kids to and from them on a periodic basis. It is awesome that they do this. Throughout the day they have activities planned as well as free time. They also have tables for kids to do homework. The City of Sacramento requires payment monthly in advance of the month of use. They take checks and credit cards(Visa an MC) which is great. They now have an autopay system for credit cards so that you don’t have to remember each month. They charge on a sliding scale for the number of hours used. So the more you use, the more you pay but it tops out around $ 550/month. It’s nice if you only need a couple hours/month as well. You pick how many hours you expect to use each month and pay based on that. If you use more, they simply charge you the difference to that time range. If you use less you do not get a credit though. So it’s better to underestimate. They don’t seem to mind that at all.
