The food is great. I was very disappointed that the website offered happy hour until 7 but when we got there our server said it was not available on Monday. It’s a shame but I will make sure I don’t visit on Mondays. The place smells yummy. Ordered mushrooms, shrimp, potatoes, eggplant along with bread to soak up the tasty sauce. One problem when bill came is that one basket of bread was $ 1, I know it was on menu but I would think the first basket would be included. Also, we sat inside and the table was small and flying insects were bothersome.

The first time we went here the service sucked but the food was great. We were reluctant enough to try it again and this time everything was outstanding. The fresh fish of the day was the Arctic Char… FREAKINGINCREDIBLE! You just can’t beat fresh fish. Every bite just melted in my mouth. One of the best fish dishes I’ve had. A+ The pesto chicken pita… YUMMM! The aioli is amazing, probably my favorite part. A For dessert we had the almond coconut bread putting and the flan. The flan was pretty awesome but not the best I’ve ever had. A-… But that bread putting was exceptional. Moist and delicious. A The service was good. We just could not figure out who our server was. There were a few employees that attended to us throughout the evening. Everyone was very helpful and attentive. Overall we were very impressed by the food. We’re glad that we gave it another chance and we’ll definitely be back

#1 liked the self seating. WASNTBUSYATALL. #2 sure the girls who were working acknowledged us(the babe & I) as We walked in but we didn’t get greeted. Then two«boys» –as she(tonya) called them when she greeted them, walked in and got VIP services and all her attention. While she put us on hold while she tried her hardest to stay«busy». #3 Placing our order I asked about the HABIBI drink(wasn’t all that great that Tonya had explained it to be. which later I found out she was the manager!) ordered the sangria(bomb) #4 Connie on the other hand. Hospitable and sweet asked us how everything was. She was great. #5 My advice to Tonya. See through shirts won’t get you too far in life. If you work in a restaurant business and call yourself a manager act like one. There’s other professional ways to get a MANS attention.(My opinion) I too have a natural resting bitch face but I’m the sweetest person in the world & it that throws people off. Maybe putting on a fake smile and pretending you actually liked your job you would’ve gotten a better review. But thank you CONNIE! Unfortunately I won’t be back to this place & if I do management better change.

Came in late night after work to have some dinner with a good friend. We both had a lamb dish that was excellent. The bar tender was super friendly and fun to talk to. will be coming back!

Started off well since the staff have great personalities. Had a bottle of wine, Sangria de Toro, and was good. Ordered jamon and gambas. Was not truly impressed with the gambas but was decent enough. Afterwards, ordered the paella and the Kobe beef. The onion straws on the beef were very good and the beef was charred to perfection. The paella had a chicken wing, a shrimp, two slices of chorizo, a decent amount of clams and mussels. The rice itself was cooked very well, not dry. But, it could have been better if they let the bottom cook a little longer and have that yummy, crusty base. More chorizo slices would help, too. The dessert, chocolate strawberry addiction, was incredibly good and, you guessed it, addicting. To explain how incredible that piece of heaven is would be a disservice to all. You should visit and experience it yourselves. Reasonably priced and a nice collection of wine, great staff and good food will definitely make us come back. Great job, Tapa the World. By the way, the paella was the lunch size portion.

Been going to this place for a while. My favorite Sangria in town. I recommend the filet mignon beef tips and when you’re done use the plum sauce to dip everything in it. Good food, open late, live music every night, and the service is always great!

Tapas is cool I guess. Yes that’s what it’s called, no one calls it Tapa the World if they actually live here. Usually we just get um, tapas, because we never come here to be full, only mildly satisfied with a ten dollar«meal». The bread is pretty good, fancy tasting. Servers are always personable. Overall nice vibe. We sit outside. Things I’ve tried here: Grilled Vegetables. They’re grilled vegetables with cheese and dressing. When I was here I think it was eggplant and squash. It’s about what you’d expect. Steamed Mussels. Pretty good but I had no idea mussels were so tiny. You’re gonna wanna have the broth of this if you want any chance of getting your money’s worth. Good for dipping bread in. Curry Lentil Soup with Apple. One of their soups of the day I guess, the day being a Saturday in November. Tastes kinda bland. There’s lentils and some other weak, unrecognizable flavors. Hot tea. Hot water with your choice of tea served in a basket. Well, it’s tea. No further explanation. There’s a lot of good stuff on the menu I’d still like to try but nothing stands out as being that great so far. Might be back, might not. Probably will. It’s one of those places you just keep on your list because you’ve been there before.

Pros: Rustic, wood trimmed décor with quiet lighting and low ceilings render an anti-modern and warm motif. Conversation-friendly atmosphere with live Spanish-style dinner music. Friendly service with informed and experienced recommendations. Cons: Small portions don’t match the prices. And quality doesn’t close the gap to justify the discrepancy. I had the Angus Beef Tips on a bed of lettuce with lackluster dressing and onion straws. The lettuce was slightly better quality than a McDonald’s salad, and the beef was chewy despite being cooked at a promised«medium». Poor cocktail and beer selection.

I LOVETHISRESTAURANT& now I am happy that the hubby shares my sentiments!!! Everything about this place is great! We ordered all tapas: sautéed mushrooms in a delicious garlic sauce, pork skewers that were perfectly cooked drizzled w/garlic aioli, empanadas filled w/potato, parmesan cheese & scallions(served w/a marinara sauce to dip), ahi tuna w/arugula & balsamic reduction & the bread basket w/the delicious garlic balsamic dipping sauce! Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection & really phenomenal! I’ve honestly never seen my husband enjoy a meal as much as he did last night! Oh yeah… Can’t forget my caipirinha(made w/cachaca & lots of lemon & limes) sooo refreshing & a must try when you dine there! The service was very friendly & quick! The time between when we ordered our food to when it was on the table was minutes it seemed & everybody we encountered there had a smile on their faces! Not to mention the amazing guitarist playing in the background… How can you not enjoy this place!!! A must try when your in downtown Sacramento!!!

Tasty, and fun. Something different. Loved the idea of sharing tapas with my hubby. Some of the tapas were pretty tiny though, so you definitely need to order quite a few. Love trying the different cheeses that they offer! We really want to try the paella, but it takes so long for them to prepare and we are impatient ;)

Pros: mussels, sangria Meh: gazpacho, patatas bravas Cons: filet mignon steak tips tasted more Asian than Spanish. Gambas look like frozen shrimp.

Service was ok, but taking twenty to thirty minutes for two tapas!!! Wow incredible. The waiter was nice however and kept us updated on the progress of the Kobe beef. Not sure if they forgot however.

Small plates we ordered were the cumin pork, grilled chicken strips, and the fish from the daily special. While they were good, I wasn’t blown away by any of the seasoning. All were served with aioli-type dipping sauces that were also good but again– not terribly impressive. The service was great and drinks were strong.

This is a lovely little hangout restaurant that stays open till midnight on the weekends and is great for a late night bite. Very romantic setting, dimly lit, cozy tables make it perfect for a date night. You can order tapas to share with friends so everybody can try a little of everything. Servers are quick and friendly and make good recommendations. My fave was the ahi tuna and the fried goat cheese was pretty delish as well. There are outdoor seats that make fun people watching spots while you enjoy the yummy tapas.

I’ve been waiting to write this review bc I wanted to sample more things but alas, I keep ordering the same stuff instead of branching out. As of now, I’ve only had the tapas and the paella, no real entrees yet… My go-to tapas are: tortilla espanola, patatas bravas, empanada of the day, croqueta of the day, gambas al ajillo(shrimp in garlic sauce), some jamon serrano and a big olé pitcher of sangria! The paella here is just meh, not bad but nothing special. I like the tapas way more and they come out way faster. The service could use a little work and they seem severely understaffed but the food is good, the prices aren’t too bad, and the atmosphere is fun.

Decided to have dinner with some friends at Tapa’s on Tuesday night. The female(not the bartender) waitress w/brown hair, earthy looking, no makeup waited on us. I asked her some simple questions about the daily specials. To cut right to the chase, she was extremely rude. I asked her what oyster mushrooms were and she replied, «what about it?» lol really? You’re gonna talk to customers like that? A scruffy looking male waiter took over. He was also rude & cavalier. And to top it off, the manager came around, looking like he was drunk on wine and made a strange remark towards me thinking he was being funny with my female friend. It wasn’t funny at all. The service has absolutely gone down hill as this is the 2nd time I’ve been mistreated here. The portions are way too small for the big price. I’m just not a fan of this place anymore. They are running this place into the ground. Save yourself the disappointment.

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Friday night per my request. My mother has previously brought me half of her Tapa Burger and it was very tasty, so I had to try it fresh. We found street parking right in front of the restaurant luckily. We did have to pay the meter, however(ugh). Upon entering, there was a table with a pile of menus and a sign saying to seat yourself. I thought this was very strange. There were plenty of servers/waiters standing around who could greet you and seat you. It wasn’t that busy, but I imagine this system doesn’t work too well when there are more customers. What if no one sees you and you’re never helped??? Once seated, I ordered the Tapa Burger and my boyfriend ordered the Kobe steak sandwich. Both sandwiches are served with your choice of salad(bleck) or potatoes(yum). They are so good! Perfectly golden brown outside and fluffy inside. They are served with a spicy tomato sauce, but our server brought us ketchup as well. The sandwiches both come with garlic aioli on the bun and lettuce and tomato on the side, so you can add it if you want. The burger is even better fresh! It has carmelized onions and melted cheese. Yum! My boyfriend and I both preferred this to the Kobe steak sandwich. It’s not that it was bad, but the burger patty was well seasoned and more flavorful. The restaurant is dimly lit so it has a nice ambiance. I thought it was kinda lame how they don’t serve you complimentary bread. On the menu it says it’s like $ 1.50 or something like that. Really now, no hostess or bread! Seems like they’re finding ways to cut costs. The service wasn’t anything amazing, but I’d come back just for the burger. Note: The bathroom is outside the restaurant down the little alleyway. Kinda scary. You have to grab a key from the wall to open the door.

Came in with friends for lunch on a Friday. We were immediately seated and greeted by our waiter. The staff was quite friendly and the wait time for food was average. I liked the décor and atmosphere. We were referred here by a friend who spoke highly of their tapas. The entrees we ordered were a pasta dish and their pesto pitas with a side of potatoes. All of us agreed that our food was delicious and filling. Now for the bad news. We all ordered an alcoholic beverage as well. Two of us ordered a sangria. Overall the taste of the sangria was nice and was topped with fruit. However, when my friend got towards the end of her drink she pulled out the orange to discover there was a chunk of mold on it. It was quite a nasty discovery and, understandable so, she could not finish her drink. When we brought it to the waiter’s attention he took a look at it and agreed that was disgusting and apologized. We were shocked however that he did not take it off of the bill or offer to replace it. Not cool!

This was only my first visit to Tapa the World, but I am definitely a fan. It is open late(midnight! Full menu!). There is an obvious tapas/Spanish premise/theme to the place without it being gimmicky or clearly attempting to be hip(as with so many other places in midtown). The menu is wide, varied, and homemade, with actual specials that change frequently. I had the daily special, an adobo pork sandwich with grilled pineapple, cheddar and manchego, lettuce, tomato and crisped onion on an onion roll. I requested raw onions instead and was accommodated; sandwich was awesome. Ate it a-l-l. Came with patatas bravadas(fried potato cubes… sound simple but so good) which were delicious. Also tried chocolate blackberry cheesecake and sangria. Would order and enjoy everything again. Overall, I have heard a lot of good things from a lot of different people and was not disappointed. Look forward to returning. :)
