Summer Rae Youker, MD

I had skin cancer removed on my arm. Dr. Youker was so patient with my questions and surprisingly pleasant. Doctors aren’t always the nicest people because they always seem rushed, but she made me feel like I was talking to a friend or coworker. She has a great sense of humor and really easy to talk with. I was especially impressed when she called my home at 8:00pm that night to check on my recovery. She spent another 5 — 10 minutes on the phone making sure all was well and answered more of my questions. I have never written a review about a doctor but she and her nursing staff were all so friendly that I thought she deserved my review.

Not pleased. They did not tell me when I made appt that I’d have to shell out $ 130, my co-​pay is $ 30 as usual but an additional $ 100 was charged (which I will be discussing with my insurance) instead of submitting to my insurance first and billing it to me which most office do, they wanted it up front without letting me know when I made this appt that that was their practice. I don’t know about you but not everyone has that kind of money available any time of day especially when I’ve only paid a co-​pay. When I mentioned to reception she just looked up at other receptionist and made a face when she was bending down to get something, guess she didn’t realize … I CAN SEE YOU. Really? Then she said she guesses they should make a practice of telling people when making an appt… well, hell ya! That would be… fair? Obviously they don’t want to tell you because I would have made an apt with my previous Dr. for the consult but he is in our old town, now, worth the drive. Oh but there’s free coffee. This was truly the first time this has EVER happened to me in all the years I have had continuous insurance (and I’m turning 60!) Not a nice way to start the day. I must say, the other reviewer was right… the front staff are unkind, considering what they do, the nurse and doctor were very nice but I am submitting a grievance and appeal with my health insurance.

I had Mohs surgery on the 5^th of September with Dr. Youker and her staff.
I was extremely pleased with the care and attention these women showed me. I felt as if my face was important to them as it is to me. It’s been 12 days since my surgery and my wound is almost completely healed and I can see that the scar is going to be so minor I doubt anyone will notice given time. She made incisions and reconstructed in a way that was best for my face. Dr. Youker obviously knows what she’s doing ~ I would highly recommend her.
On a side note. there are plenty of bars across the street from this place. You will need a shot of something strong after your surgery. Very handy!

Dr Youker is lovely and the other back office staff is friendly. BUT, the front office just wasted an hour of my life and that is unforgivable.
