Oh no Seoul Restaurant, where have you gone? Many of us miss this restaurant, the great food and super friendly waitress Chong(?) Does anyone have an idea if they will reopen somewhere else in Sacramento? If so, please tell us so we can come and enjoy the bulgogi, jab chae and banchan again!

I’m so sad to discover this place folded!!! Their marinated meats were the best because the sauce wasn’t too sweet like at Oz. Their side dishes tasted like homemade, like my Korean mother-in-law makes them. They will be missed!!!

I went to have lunch there the other day and found to my horror that the place was shut, closed, out of business. The person in the business next door said another restaurant was opening there soon. Seoul Shiktang will be a hard act to follow. I’ll miss their dungellae-cha… So I ate at the Pine Tree House across the street. That’s good too, but I’m sorry to see the Seoul depart.

This place is okay. I went on a weekday and it was completely empty. I am always skeptical about going to restaurants that are completely empty since i wonder if it is i any good. I ended up having the pork bulgogi which was okay. Service was ehhh considering we tried to get the waitress attention so we could get more side dishes but she was hiding in the back. I figured the place is completely empty, she couldnt have been that busy at least be in an area where the customer can get your attention. The side dishes were okay. I probably wouldnt be back since there are many delicious korean places in the area.

I’m by no means an experience Korean food eater, but this place was fantastic! I liked all the appetizers, which by the way they were generous with. The service was friendly, impeccably efficient and the main dishes were delcious, too and you can’t beat the price for the boatloads of food you eat. Highly recommended.

Definitely a diamond in the rough traditional Korean restaurant — great find! One of the only places(besides Oz) with table side grills that I’ve seen in Sacramento. The galbi short ribs for 2 were really well marinated and relatively tender(although I’ve still had better). Unfortunately we weren’t able to mix and match different grill meats, so we got a whole lot of galbi, probably enough for 3 people, for a steep $ 39. Plenty of banchan side dishes to choose from — unfortunately that day they didn’t have my favorite fish cakes. But the veggie pancakes and potatoes almost made up for that. A dining partner’s Dolsot bibimbap also looked pretty good. The waitress/owner was really friendly and helpful. Gave us plenty of water refills after having too much gochujang. After talking to her for a little bit, I learned that this restaurant has been here for over 30 years! Amazing that they’re still going strong. I’d have to come back when I’m looking for an authentic Korean meal, albeit a little pricey.

This was a great introduction to Korean food! We tried a couple different menu items: the short ribs and the rice pots. We also ordered a generously sized appetizer, which arrived with the 12 side dishes.(Most of these side dishes were tasty, a great mix of spicy and not-spicy) The food was delicious! The interior was nothing fancy. A little run-down, but clean. The service was attentive. We never had to ask for more of anything — it was offered or refilled first. But the true indicator: our 7 year old(who had the seafood rice pot) said, «We MUST come back here!»

My friends and I visited Seoul Restaurant for a friend’s birthday. Food: I ordered the Bi Bim Bap, which consisted of an over-easy egg, Korean beef, bean sprouts, and other vegetables. The meal also came with rice, miso soup, and an array of Korean side dishes such as kimchi. All of the food was very tasty. Side Notes Ambiance: The restaurant is a small, mom-and-pop place, which is located behind a gas station. Service: Our waitress was really nice. I wasn’t really hungry, since I already had a dinner prior to my friend’s birthday dinner, so she boxed up my dinner and gave me some extra kimchi and other side dishes. Overall: If I had some friends visiting, and they wanted to eat Korean food, I would take them to Seoul Restaurant.

Ok, this is Korean food. If you want to know what real Korean food tastes like but don’t really have time to go to Korea right now, than here ya go. No frills ambience, but the service is reliable and pleasant, which is all I really care about. Order the Bi Bim Bap. Crispy rice, perfectly prepared beef, egg that cooks as you mix it, balanced with fresh and pickled veggies. This place has ruined me for all other Sacramento Korean restaurants, but I’m not bitter. I’m loyal.

Relatively hidden, definitely a hole in the wall place. Waitress is very nice and attentive. She kept refilling our waters bunch of times. Service is relatively quick as well. Lots of side dishes. I even asked for garlic/jalapeño, and lettuce to make the lettuce wraps. She was very nice about giving them those, and if you ask for refill for the side dishes, she’ll be happy to refill them. I like the lettuce covered with the spices(not sure what it’s called) — it reminded me of kimchi but it was romaine lettuce instead of cabbage, it was good. I like the crisp to it. I ordered the stir fry pork with kimchi. I like it a lot. It’s very flavorful. It came with rice and there was tofu. I am not a big fan of rice, so I made the lettuce wraps. My sister also ordered a dish, she ordered a BBQ pork dish, which was good as well. My friend is a regular here, so he always gets the rice dish and he is always happy with it. Apparently, they also do a korean BBQ but I’ll stick to non-korean BBQ. +takes credit cards

Hole in the wall mom-and-pop type of restaurant that you can’t help but fall in love with. The food is on par with the Korean food you’ll find in Sacramento. I got the Gal bee tang which is really soft beef mixed with green onions, egg, and cucumber in a yummy broth. There was a wide selection of ban chan that the lady did not mind replacing. Oh, and it comes with free pancake which is always a plus since I hate ordering an entire pancake(I never finish it & its not really good the next day). The menu is extensive and includes some Korean dishes that you don’t normally see at a Korean restaurant. I gave the restaurant a five-star rating simply because the owner is so sweet. She is super attentive, constantly filling waters, providing us with free hot tea, checking if we were doing OK, etc. The food came out quickly and I think the prices are reasonable. Definitely check it out if you’re craving Korean food!

My first time at a legit Korean restaurant! I came here with my girlfriend and I was pretty satisfied. It was a deserted parking lot so we were skeptical at first, but then it just meant the owner could pay more attention to us haha. She certainly did pay a lot of attention to us. Constantly refilled our water, gave us free tea, and helped us understand the menu as clearly as a Korean woman who knows some English could. Admittedly the food is pretty damn pricey which is why I took a star off. We ordered: So Bul Go Gi(Beef) — $ 17 Octupus stir-fried in vegetables — $ 15 Hella expensive lol. My girlfriend concluded it was pretty worth it considering the amount of(unlimited) side dishes and rice they served us. The side dishes are super good though! Reading reviews on other Korean restaurants it seems pretty standard for side dishes to be out though. So really, it’s up to you how price conscious you want to be. Looking back at the prices I could have just gone to Oz for more money but more food, but this was a pleasant experience that i still enjoyed.

This restaurant will not win style and glam points, it’s not flashy and hidden in a rather concealed location. What it does have is decent banchan and wholesomely delicious Korean food. While the banchan is not entirely authentic(broccoli?), the selection of Korean hot stews certainly is. The service is undoubtedly something to commend. Of all the times I’ve been here, I’ve been welcomed with a smile and tended to as if I was part of the family. This is also the only Korean restaurant in Sacramento that serves yum sul tang(Korean Black Goat Stew), this savory dish is one of my favorite. It’s also believed to be an aphrodisiac, from where I can only assume, superstitious Korean village. Hey, I lay no claim nor do I notice or believe any positive or ill effects of said dish. But why don’t you try it yourself and see where that goes ;)

Jack & I ate here several times during my year in Folsom. Good selection of banchan and they have my favorite yuk hwe, raw marinated beef with raw garlic, fuji apple, sesame seeds and oil and a raw egg. You can also get a bibimbap with this. Yum-O!

Sigh… KBBQ was decent. Not as great as my aging memory made it out to be. The soups here are a little weak. The service is great and the meat was pretty good but it’s not something to seek out. Don’t get me wrong, 3 is decent. But it’s not something I would drag my friends to. But compared to what’s available here in Sac, it gets bumped up to 4. 2 person serving of meat + the fixings(side dishes, rice, lettuce — they don’t charge for that here unlike OZ) they give you a LOT of the sides like the ssamjang(the dip, which is pretty good here) and our meal even came with too much garlic for us to finish(which is impossible). for about 39 $ + tax. NOTAYCE(as far as meat goes, you can probably eat all the side dishes you want, we definitely had double servings).

Why did everyone gave it such good rating… SoooooooO disappointed. 3 star because korean food with side dishes are always good. Arrived to the empty parking lot on a WED night hoping and finger crossing that it would be good. A friend and I went to tried something new so we decided to tryhis place. Walked into a empty REST still hoping that it will do us some good. the REST is in old area and old building the setting inside was very old or korean like you can say. Didn’t get discourage still sat down and had dinner. Menu wasn’t that big and of course korean food is a little expensive. We ordered 3 dishes one was shrimp with spicy sauce it wasn’t good. DOn’T get it!!! it was spicy and it was very soggy. beef bowl with some vegetables so bland. Last but not least we ordered something that was decent chicken with a soy sauce base that was done in minutes. Overall this place wasn’t that great like all the other reviewers had said. Maybe I’m just a little picky when it comes to korean food. I know most korean food is pretty tasty and saucy but this place came to an disappointment. The side dishes were good could have been better. The lady that owns it i believed was really sweet kept refilling our water asking us if we were okay! that was really nice of her. Well service was good. price was decent and food was eh so 3 star for this place. Sorry couldn’t be one of those who said they would come back!!!

I ABSOLUTELYLOVETHISKOREANRESTAURANT! I’ve been here so many times that the owners already know me. I always get either cold or stoneware bibimbap and usually add that red hot sauce they have on the side, which is delicious! Their side dishes are great; my favorite is the pancakes and the radish kimchi! I can eat their side dishes forever. They serve Chinese food as well, but their specialty is Korean(of course). I’ve also tried their bulgogi, which was good, but I think their bibimbaps are the best here. I also like their seafood plates that come with a side of rice. I suggest that you add more chili sauce because everything is tastier when it’s spicy. I eat here at least once a month and I don’t care about the 30 minute drive to get there, because it is sooooooo worth the drive =) The service is awesome! There’s only three of them(2 ladies and an old man). They’re so nice and very helpful. If you’ve never been there and not sure what you want to get, they’ll recommend you a handful of things, as well as the spiciness level you can handle. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone =)

This is my friend’s favorite Korean restaurant, so she suggested we go here one day. I was really pleased with my lunch here. The food was really good. I had this beef dish(I think it might have just been broiled beef), jap chae(clear noodle dish with veggie), spicy cod and tofu soup, bibimbap(rice mixed with veggies, meat, egg, sesame oil, and gochujang(korean pepper paste)), and of course the complimentary ban chan(my favorite part of Korean food). I tend to go to Korean places because I am craving good ban chan, the food is almost more of an afterthought for me. I love variety when I eat so having 8 – 10 appetizers, the ban chan, automatically served with a meal is awesome in my book. The ban chan here was good, but not the best I’ve ever had, not even close. I wish they were a little bit more flavorful. My favorite dish here was probably the jap chae. The spicy cod and tofu soup was really good, but the cod had an odd texture to it, I don’t think it was all that fresh– but I still enjoyed the soup. I don’t think I’ve ever seen prices this cheap at a Korean restaurant. The lady serving us was very friendly. I felt so bad for her when the jerks over at a different table were being rude to her.

This place was nice, and wasn’t too busy when my bf and I got in … but still the service was slow. The woman that served us was very nice and tried to get to us as quickly as she could, but it just seemed like they needed more than just one person there on a Friday night. They gave us plenty of side dishes … enough to make a meal out of them alone. The food took a while to prepare, but it was worth the wait — for me at least. My dish was delicious and I enjoyed every last bite … however my bf was not happy with the side dishes nor his dish. Which is a shame since this place is open till 2am, and I plan on returning to this place with or without him ;P. Lastly our bottle of sake was a bit more pricey than we thought it would be($ 30), and just wasn’t what we were expecting … but we drank it anyways since it was ordered. In the end this place was OK. I’ll probably keep looking around for one that becomes my favorite though. ;)
