We’ve only been to this location a few times but every time we come we see emeric and Jessica, they were super nice and helpful when I first came and was confused with the menu. The service was fast and the food was delicious. I had the beef brisket big BBQ sandwich, and would definitely suggest it. The iced tea they make there is my husbands favorite and my kids love the ice cream machine they have. We couldn’t have been more satisfied.

Such a nice and family-friendly place! The food was delicious, especially the smokehouse salad with the beef brisket. Love how you get complementary softserve, too. Emeric was lovely and courteous and informative. Apparently, he also makes a mean Baker(which is a giant baked potato, he told me).

BBQ Service: Literally & Figuratively«Night & Day!» SITREP After my last couple of late-night(ie. past Midnight) experiences with Dickey’s(as noted in prior review-update), I was ready to give up and stick with other late-night options. But understanding that sometimes all you get is a specific cross-section of experience at a particular time that may not be reflective of the entire store-experience, you are willing to go back to check-out a different set of circumstances. THESETUP My recent DAYTIME visit to Dickey’s was as stark a contrast in customer service as… well… «night & day.» I owe all the credit to the daytime manager Becca who greeted me with a smile and doted on me like I was a long-lost(and beloved) relative she got to share dinner with! * First off, EVERY advertised item was available, most notably the baked potato casserole which had been M.I.A. my last two(2) visits; * Grabbing the Family Pak this go-around for the housemates, Becca made some great suggestions for completing my selections. * The ribs were the most tender I’ve ever had here and quite scrumptious! * The honey glazed chicken, my first time upon Becca’s recommendation, was absolutely delicious, and a selection I’ll have to make again! Along with Onion Tanglers, Rolls, and Mac N’ Cheese(and steamed fresh veggies made from our home-garden) it ended up being the perfect dinner affair for us! DESSERT There is a marvelous array of desserts to be had as well, including some soft serve ice cream! THELOWDOWN Daytime visits to Dickey’s turn out to be the thing to do!

Everything was in plastic bags that they took out of the lockers. Even pre portioned fries. It’s all in the open, are they proud of that? Anyway, I got a three meat combo with the brisket, chicken, and ribs. My sides were coleslaw and macaroni and cheese. The brisket was extremely dry and the chicken as well. The only redeeming part was the ribs, even though I only got two they were very tender with a decent rub on it. This meal was way too expensive for what I got. Relatively small portions, poor quality food, and not Real BBQ. Go somewhere else. Update: you’re right, the plastic bags is standard, I apologize for not understanding but I actually do remember seeing that technique in other establishments. The sides were in pre packaged, pre portioned plastic bags as well, though, and that usually doesn’t go down well visually for a customer. I really did like the ribs, but the brisket and chicken really were near the driest I’ve ever had.

Luis, at Dickey’s, asked if I could review today. There is promise of dessert so how can I say no! However, I do actually like this place so I’m happy to share my two cents. I moved here a bit over a year ago and go up and down J street everyday to/from work. I walk by Dickey’s of course. I go there at the end of the week every couple of weeks or so. That tends to coincide to when my groceries run out and I need to take something home for dinner on a Thursday/Friday. The plates are pretty well priced but my food always seems so much more. That’s because I mostly only get meat by the pound. Great alternative for a low carb diet. All I need is a few veggies to make a meal. I love all their meat, especially the pulled pork. They even make sure to take out big chunks of fat from their pulled pork before they give it to you. I’ve also had some interesting weekend nights at Dickey’s. Seeing that it’s open until 3 am, you do come across some interesting characters. We almost married off one of our friends to an Australian boy with his visa running out. That was an awesome fun night. Oh… and did I mention they sell beer and give out free ice cream with your meal purchase? I honestly stopped in there twice last summer to buy some food mainly to get a cone so I could slowly cool down on my walk home. Other than the food, the staff is super nice. I don’t think I’ve walked in there once without someone greeting me and letting me know that they’ll be right with me. And, you could be the 3rd or 10th person to walk in, they will notice just like Luis did today. The one thing though, I wish they had less noise behind the counter. Maybe it’s the cooking equipment… but, being a short girl, when I tell my order behind the glass, they never hear me. I always have to shout and repeat myself. Otherwise, awesome spot.

Good BBQ at a good price in the heart of Midtown. Customer service is top notch. Rebecca and Omeric greeted me upon arrival and remained super courteous and attentive during the ordering process. Had the Pulled Pork and Polish Sausage and both did not disappoint. And who can complain for $ 2 glasses of Breaking Bud?

Elyse and Taylor and the rest of the staff are amazing! We arrived during a busy rush and hey handled the crowd beautifully. The food was amazing, as always. The management is what really makes this place stand out. I skate with a local roller derby team and I love that this Dickies will let me hang our posters in the window. Way to support local non profit groups, Dickies! Highly recommend this location. Try the chicken! It’s smokey, tender and amazing!

Best staff I’ve ever encountered at a Dickie’s. Their food is always good too. I’ve never had them screw up my «no onion» request. Pro: great staff, fantastic food Con: there isn’t too much parking but it’s midtown so…

Surprisingly tender beef brisket and solid pulled pork, albeit meagerly portioned for the price. The mac & cheese and green beans with bacon were subpar though, so I’d pass on those in a heartbeat. Decent for late night noms, but there are plenty of other options that will be similarly tasty at a fraction of the cost.

My second visit to Dickies was a very pleasant experience. The owner and the manager are both good people and really care about their customers. They go the extra mile… The food was delicious and filling. I had sausage which was served hot and juicy. The Mac & Cheese was as creamy and cheesy as always. I also tried the fried okra and wow! It was impressive! It was fried perfectly on the outside, but still fresh and crisp on the inside. That sausage made me thirsty so I washed it down with some sweet tea. The tea was light, refreshing, and hit the spot. For dessert, I tried the soft serve. It was a fun tasty way to finish the meal. The staff was really hustling to take care of the customers. I so impressed, that I left them a big tip in the tip bucket. That’s rare for me because I’m not a big fan of the tip bucket. Good job guys!

On my first visit here, I had the two meat plate, choice of any two meats off the menu. I had the pulled pork and the spicy cheddar sausage. I liked the two meat plate but I liked the Westerner even more. The Westerner sandwich comes with choices of meat, onions, pickles, two slices of cheese which is perfect for me because I’m a big cheese fan. On my most recent trip here(which was today) I had the Westerner with chicken breasts & spicy sausage. Generous portions of spicy sausages and chicken in my sandwich. The sandwich was filling; I had a late lunch here and was pretty much stuffed for the rest of the day. Didn’t need to have dinner. I had Mac n’ Cheese and jalapeño beans for the side dishes. Both sides went well with my sandwich. I also had the Big Yellow Cup for $ 2.25 with Miss Ollie Dickey’s Famous Tea, choice of either Southern Sweet or unsweetened. You can keep the cup as a souvenir. The condiments table has a pour-it-yourself barbecue sauce table, with choice of original, spicy, and sweet. The staff working here are genuinely friendly. The cashier, as she was preparing my sides, asked me how my Wednesday was going. The day was going well and it went much better after dining at Dickey’s.
