Georgi’s Waxing Studio

I choose to come here since it was so well reviewed on Unilocal.I’m new to Detroit and needed to get back into my old waxing routine. Inside, the salon is sanitary and nicely decorated making it far from just another hole in the wall studio. The woman who did my Brazillian wore gloves and cleaned my lady parts before and after the service. As a new client, they discounted the price to $ 42 which I think is very reasonable. (Before I moved here, I was paying $ 65 for bikini waxes.) I’ll most likely come back to Georgi’s next time I need a full Brazillian.

Went on the search for a reputable waxing studio when I had a hard time getting an appointment at my regular place. Called on a Monday and they were able to fit me in mid-​day Saturday. Very nice location, just off of Main Street with a lot of metered parking right across the street.
When I walked in, my initial thought was «this is how all waxing salons should look». Everything was clean and white, it made me feel incredibly fancy without being uncomfortable. The friendly desk staff had me fill out a short info sheet for their files and then it was time for my appt!
I was led to a comfy private waxing room where I got undressed. They provide you with a small robe to put on from the waist down for a Brazilian. My wax was done by Aliyah (I will make sure I’m spelling it right and edit after my next appt). She did a fantastic job. Super professional and made me really comfortable considering the delicate nature of a Brazilian wax. She told me everything she was doing and why. They apply some sort of cooling solution immediately after each strip is removed, and it felt so good! Everything was very sanitary and clean. They use new sticks with each application as to not «double-​dip», gloves, disposable cloth sheet under me, the whole bit.
I am extremely happy with my results and made my next appt before leaving so that I get 10% next time.

Waxing in southeast Michigan/​southwest Ontario should be synonymous with Georgi’s, full stop.
Why would you bother going anywhere but a pristine environment with top-​notch hygienic standards, amiable and experienced waxers, and little touches to enhance the experience? Certainly I can’t stress this enough: if you are going to let them tend to your most treasured goods, your waxing studio needs to be the best. Dirty rooms or painful techniques with a hatchet faced artist do not justify saving a whole $ 10.
I make the hike into Birmingham on a regular basis, fighting traffic off Woodward the whole way. Lucky for me the recent opening of their second outpost in Royal Oak alleviates some of the commute stress and opens more appointments in coveted timeslots on weekends and weeknight evenings. Maybe it’s not the wisest idea to share my fanfare and love of Georgi’s, on second thought, if I want to keep those appointments.
Let’s be honest: the sophisticated, hip employees to a number make me wish I were more stylish and they put me at ease in their capable hands. I tried almost everyone in Birmingham but I profess faithfulness to my favourite waxer in Royal Oak, who I followed gladly down there, and see every five weeks or so. Like a good hairstylist, you want someone who knows your preferences and adjusts to your body. Super sensitive? You will appreciate the light, sure touches and many ways Georgi’s staff are trained to ease the sting or burn. Apprehensive? Don’t be, they will be happy to ease your experience by answering questions and being forthright and professional. They encourage you to speak up if need be.
Without too much detail, I’m very experienced with Brazilians and know the difference between a decent, great, and superior waxing. There will always be a level of discomfort at mid-​scale hair removal using hot wax, but never pain when done properly. Georgi’s nails a superior level through use of warm wax and large cloth strips. Pain? Nearly nil. Cool gel is liberally applied to help take out any redness and nearly all products used here are friendly to the environment and sensitive skin. Nor are you required to adopt any awkward inverted yoga poses to get the job done, and a fat supportive foam wedge gets used to manipulate you into any positions. Believe me, I wish I had that pillow at my last pilates class.
Georgi’s is a cut above because of their attention to detail, both at a physical and site level. This lovely new building refurbished a shop just off Main Street in Royal Oak, and the bright, modern palate really works. Everything is spotless as can be. Staff work hard to keep the studios spic and span. Every visit, an employee is washing the windows, sweeping the floors or carrying fresh laundry back and forth. It smells and feels exactly like a waxing temple should: fresh and tidy.
They also have a brow waxing bar for quick jobs that lacks the privacy of the closed studio rooms but a great view of downtown through the frosted glass. It’s separate from the waiting area so you can let go of your cares. Water is offered, and possibly tea. The studio also has a variety of other services in addition to waxing.

Just had an awesome wax from Emily! She waxed most of my body and did such a great job. We talked the whole time and she made me feel extremely comfortable-​it felt like I’ve known her for years and we were old buddies catching up! I’ve never had a better wax in my life and will certainly be back.
The studio is very nice. It has a contemporary and clean feel to it and you can tell it’s new. The room even had a flat screen tv mounted on the wall! It felt like a spa for sure and the waxing experience felt like a relaxing spa treatment! I’d highly recommend this waxing studio as well as Emily!

Georgi’s is my all time favorite waxing spot and now they have a Royal Oak location. YAY! Their 2^nd location is beautiful. Right off main street, SUPER clean and an extra relaxing vibe. I have been a loyal Birmingham client for years and I am so happy to welcome them to Royal Oak.

So…this review definitely falls into the «a little bit TMI but much too good not to Unilocal about» category.
I don’t mean to brag… but I am sort of an expert at brazillian waxes (wait…is that even something to brag about? oh well).
A little history for you. My husbands job used to be very mobile. We traveled all over the place. Lived in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago… etc etc. I am very anti-​shaving so in every city I always had to find a good waxer. SO… needless to say I was waxed in many cities by many different people. Some were good… some were bad… but I definitely feel like I am at the point where I can refer to myself as a expert judge as to what a good waxer should be.
Georgi’s is very spa like. It is very clean, welcoming and relaxing. The second you walk in the door you are immediately given a warm hello and offered some water.
Onto the waxing. There is no way to sugar coat a brazillian wax. You are basically getting naked from the waist down and having hair ripped out from your most private of areas. But honestly… this really truly was one of the least painful brazillians that this «expert» has ever had. Georgi is very fast and efficient and makes the whole experience as «un-​awkward» as she can. She uses large waxing strips so the whole process goes a lot quicker… and when you are getting a bikini wax the quicker the better!
To cap it off, waxes here are relatively affordable AND they even has discounts for first time customers as well as repeat customers. Bonus!
Michigan is VERY lucky to have Georgi’s in the area. It is hard to find a waxer as good as her (or any of her expert employees)…so if you are looking to take the leap into brazillian waxing (or any kind of waxing for that matter) contact Georgi’s…trust me. I am an expert after all!!!
