Great place! Had the honey vanilla latte and it was amazing! The design is on point! Clean and comfortable! Good job!

The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. If you are looking for your hipster dream tumblr aesthetically pleasing coffeeshop then look no further. I fully expected snobby baristas(judgemental mistake on my part) but the girl who helped me was quite nice and helpful. $ 5 i think or around there for my lavender latte. Too expensive i think but hey that’s the price to pay for some instagram worthy latte art i guess. My biggest problem was that my latte was cold and i could barely taste the lavender. It honestly tasted like a very normal, boring, bland latte. Truly nothing special. I’m hoping that this was a mistake because i really like the vibe of this place. I plan on returning again to try a different drink because i love the atmosphere and would like to make this a regular study spot if the coffee is better next time.

I went in on a Sunday afternoon/early evening. The place was PACKED. They essentially have three ‘sections’ is what id call it. The section closest to the door are possibly 7 – 8 two seater tables. The second section has a few tables and plush area that have outlets. The area 2 steps down also has a few tables and few outlets. They have some interesting concoctions — the two i remember are the lavender latte and rose-cardamom latte. I am looking forward to trying to latter at some point. They have tons of bakery sweets, simple sandwiches and one item(California turkey) that was a ‘kitchen’ item and their kitchen was closed Sunday around 5pm. They do offer a variety of sandwiches and salads, but i dont know how long they’ve been sitting in that fridge. I had their cold brew and a turkey sandwich. Turkey sandwich: turkey, lettuce, tomato on an onion roll with a side of pesto mayo. it was good, but not 8 $ good. Their cold brew was also very good and competitively priced 4 $ fir 16oz. They have a side table with essentials for your coffee. For a coffee shop cold brew + sandwich 13.50 — a ltitle too pricey imo. Their bathrooms were clean, wifi was fairly fast, despite everyone in the store being online and staff was friendly. Its a nice, sleek, «modern» looking coffee shop. Definitely does not have a «homey» feel, but i dont think thats the vibe they were going for. Very uppidy type place. The temp in the shop was about 68,69 degrees, so almost perfect. Parking is side stret and metered. I think ill return on an off-peak hour so that i can get my selection of comfy seats. Most likely i wont get any food, downtown royal oak has plenty of other options. Im hoping their inventive lattes are worth it, im likely to return.

I’m torn!!! That was one of the best lattes I’ve had in awhile, so 5 stars!!! But then, We had to go and order the scone, which was literally inedible. Like rubber. Covered it with a napkin and left it there.(And I like anything sweet) So that was a 1 star… So averaged three. Counter service is awesome and I think the different seating is fun!

I’m very happy that RO has this great addition to its coffee shop offerings. Their nitro brew is great and I’ve enjoyed some delicious Americanos from here as well.

Great food and atmosphere but can be crowded and hard to get a spot, also some more electrical outlets would be nice

Friendly attentive staff, lots of seating options(couches, plush chairs, single, family, and group tables, outdoor weather permitting), menu includes coffees, baked goods, sandwiches, salads. When out for coffee, I order macchiatos, so that is what I’m reviewing. First impression: pricey!!! $ 3.45 after tax when most places are $ 3, BUT they pour 3oz. Instead of 2oz, so evens out! Wow, a nice crema from the beans of Plymouth roasters Coffee Express. I’ll be back, but probably not a regular.

My favorite coffee shop in Royal Oak. Drinks: I live their Nitro Cold brew. It’s very rich and smooth. It’s nice to add different types of syrup. their cappuccino is also quite good and it comes in a big mug. Service: every time I visit I’m delighted with their service. They’re friendly and attentive and more than happy to fix your drink to make you happy. Atmosphere: it’s stylish, spacious and has plenty of tables, but always busy. Lots of people studying weekdays and weekends.

Really rad interior. Like, a seriously beautiful place. BUT, the coffee is not good. Borderline bad. Actually, my drip coffee WAS bad, my dude’s nitro-cold brew was okay. I am not a huge fan of nitro coffee much anyways, full disclosure. I see what they are trying to do, and they’ve got the look. Sleek, trendy, minimalist interior design. But the quality of what they are actually serving is low. And the people working don’t really seem to know what’s going on either. I asked, «What kind of coffee do you serve?» i.e. who roasts what you are serving?(They do, I realized later) and was told after a few moments of what seemed to be intense inner-confusion, «Dark roast or medium roast». So, that was probably my fault for not being more clear. But, c’mon! I don’t go to Royal Oak often, so I don’t know how much of a repeat customer I will be. BUT, if it was an actually decent cup of coffee, I would absolutely go out of my way to patronize Atomic. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. WHY is it that there is hardly any good coffee outside of the city? If I am in RO and need coffee, I would honestly prefer Sbux over this. Which makes me the worst, I know. Or, I would drive to Birmingham and go to Commonwealth. I am all about supporting local businesses, I strive to buy local in almost everything that I do, but I’m also not going to throw away my money for something that isn’t good. Not tryna be a coffee snob, but if the shoe fits, I’ll wear it. They get an extra star for being mildly friendly and for getting the look down.

Another Hipster Coffee Place. OK, I have been drinking good coffee since the early to mid 90s when the coffee house culture that places like this draw from was created. Atomic Coffee is cool, sleek, and relatively comfortable. I know old comfy couches wouldn’t fit the décor, but there are plenty of sleek styled couches out there that would. They have a few, but it ain’t no Brazil from days of yore. One needs to judge a place based on its patrons with a grain of salt. That said, there was a considerably large amount of man buns, Jane hats, and handlebar mustaches there. I don’t know if I’m just getting old or if in fact these trends are weird. The man buns get to me though. Back when I had long hair I pulled it into a completely respectable pony tail or kept it in a hippy dippy tam. The mustaches I actually think are pretty cool. Here’s where it loses a star for me. I wanted a hazelnut Americano and couldn’t get it here. What coffee place worth its salt can’t sell you one of these? I mean hell, I can get one at McDonalds! So I said OK, how about a vanilla one? Sorry sir, we have vanilla honey syrup, but not vanilla. Huh? Honey in tea is great. Honey in coffee? Not so much. Or I could have a lavender one, or a cardamom rose one, or a… you get the drift. I appreciate making your own syrups and being creative with the flavors, but that does not mean its OK to not have a few staples too. It’s like how Inyo, which wants to be a bar and not a resturant, has no beer on tap. Anyway, this loses the place a star. The other one came from having the opportunity to do something different, and instead just following the crowd. It’s better than Caribou or Starbucks, but just doesn’t blow my mind.

Atomic has a beautiful atmosphere. They have five different sections of seating, all with their own functions. They have couches, benches, tables with chairs, benches near a fireplace and a sunk in seating area. I’ve had multiple cappuccinos and cortados here. Every time they are pretty good. It seems they are still refining and learning, but are on course to be amazing. Tyler is one of their baristas, and is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There has been a few different employees I asked, «What countries is this coffee from?», And they seemed to be confused by that question-even a little annoyed I asked that. Quite disappointing for me, considering coffee is their product… Nonetheless– Tyler the barista saves them all the time, because he knows the answers. I’ve tried the food too– the egg and cheese sandwich. Nothing amazing, but I’d be really amazed if someone could actually make that kind of sandwich taste good. Overall, definitely suggest this place as your local coffee spot to be a frequent customer.

I’ve been here a few times, various times throughout the day. One time I came in at 0700 on Saturday and ordered an oatmeal, but the cook wasn’t on shift yet, so I waited. Boy was it worth it! It’s the perfect oatmeal to hit my mouth, and I thought I made awesome oatmeal! I order a cup of medium roast black coffee, it was ok! Felt like I was the only one there, but as soon as 0900 came around, this place was about to explode into a dance party. Sometimes, this place can be overwhelming with people who go in and park for numerous hours, me for instance, and only buy a black coffee while lavishing on high-speed internet. Every now and then I go up to the counter and buy a cookie to supplement the resources I’ve used at the place — warm fire place, electricity for my laptop, and never ending wifi. At times, I feel like this place should charge for the table rather than a cup of medium roast java. It would probably weed out all the people who wouldn’t be keen on paying for a flat surface to study. Businesses have this method implemented in the UK and I think in Turkey. Google it! Although the place is cozy, the little area below entrance level can be a bit cold. You can feel the cold draft coming from the window. The place lacks a lot of seating when the entire Royal Oak High School population enters the door, but people find ways to share the space. I’ve seen prospects enter then leave due to lack of chairs or tables. I would suggest people sharing with strangers even on those two-person table/booth things. Not sure if I’d come back, but that damn oatmeal sounds good about now… hmmm!

A great place to relax in downtown royal oak. Plenty of seating area and great to try their different house made signature drinks. I particularly enjoyed the banana foster latte with a creamy banana taste.

Very modern take on a coffee shop, Atomic coffee does a great job at the basics. Their coffee is very smooth and the baristas are good at their job. There is plenty of seating available in case you need to study or just want to enjoy a cup of coffee by the fireplace. I highly recommend the cappuccino, it is superb.

My cappuccino with cardamon-rose syrup was smooth, roasty, Italian perfection. Prices are a little steep but quality is worth it. The fire place is an AWESOME touch. This building is actually pretty huge for a coffee shop but the way it’s set up with couches and dim lights makes it feel really intimate. The environment seemed quite welcoming toward everyone– in my 15 minutes here I saw students studying, people on dates, construction workers and a group of friends having a debate. This seems like the perfect place to wind down(or up, since it’s a coffee shop? Lol) on a cold autumn or winter night. Oh and the banana pudding cup was delicious. Next time I’m in Royal oak I’m definitely stopping by.

I walked into Atomic Coffee not expecting what I saw. All white brick with colorful unicolor theme. I can’t even remember what that color was. Orange? It was very spacious and, considering the minimal crowd, looked even bigger. I was disappointed by the«desserts» selection. Walked right by and didn’t even consider anything there. Noticed that the coffee prices weren’t too bad. Ended up ordering a double espresso Americano, small. The coffee was on the bitter side, and lacked flavor to me, personally. I know everyone has their own tastes, so I won’t hold too much weight on this. It was between a 3 or a 4 star, and lower-than-average prices pushed it to a four. However, saying all this, I don’t have an urge to come back.

Now that they have been open a few months, they really are getting their act together. They now have decaf! And here is what I did not know: they make fresh food, to order, in that tiny kitchen. Great breakfast place(made from scratch) and lunch is fantastic. Soups all homemade and delicious. Big salads. And cheap! Who knew this coffee shop with a great ambiance, is almost a full serve restaurant! I like the owners were very responsive to my prior post about lacking decaf. Shows they know how to run a business.

I have never been here before, and all I can do is compare it to Starbucks. Now Starbucks, that’s my weakness. I wouldn’t know what to do without Starbucks, but after visiting this place, I’m not sure. A plus right off the bat to Atomic Coffee is it is cheaper then Starbucks. Now it could be cheaper because the cup size, compared to Starbucks, is smaller, but who cares. This coffee place isn’t $ 5 a cup like Starbucks, its $ 4. The seating at this place is really open as well. You can bring a big group of people or sit by yourself. It’s all good here.

My first time… Well Atomic! here comes fatty! First off, the place did a great of stepping past the pseudo false hipness of a guy wearing a winter scarf on a hot summer day that Trader Joe’s provides us. The clean white room gives you a feel you are about to get something special and we did. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Although, I do like Starbucks, I think this is a bit of a step beyond for the same price. We inquired about the Nitro Cold Press and after a great story about how long it takes to make, no heat, and the Guinness like nitrogen, I didn’t care how much. I simply had to have it. We asked what we should put in it and the barista said«just try it as it is. It smooth and creamy and maybe you will just enjoy as it was mean to be»…Is she Gandhi in disguise? Well, maybe not but she is dead on the money, what a great coffee. I could almost pretend I was getting drunk of a coffee that had the qualities of one of my favorite beers sans alcohol. I think we paid 10 bucks for 2 and it is worth it 10 times over. I can’t wait to get back here.

I enjoyed my experience at the new Atomic Coffee in downtown Royal Oak. You can’t miss this place at the corner of 4th and Main with the gigantic coffee cup atop the entrance. Walking in the space is large and sleek with modern devote and a small outside seating area. There’s a variety of seating options from couches to small and large tables, and plenty of outlets for laptops. Having never been here before I asked for a recommendation and the young man behind the counter suggested their nitro cold brew. I opted for that with some of their house made honey vanilla syrup. I thought the drink was tasty, slightly biter but a little cream helped balance that. My only complaint is that it was lacking ice and was more room temperature than cold. I’d order it again and ask for extra ice next time. While doing some work an employee stopped by to say hello and ask how I was. I appreciated that, God customer service goes a long way. All the employees seemed very friendly. The seating by area was perfect for getting some work done and some always fun people watching.
