I love this place! The smoothies, soups, wraps and salads are all delicious and the customer service is great! Everything tastes so fresh and it is definitely high quality food. Cacao Tree has an awesome community vibe and is a place that I like to go for lunch. The only down side is that it’s a bit expensive… But it’s worth it!

I love love love ginger, and any time I can get a fresh ginger juice, I am on it. I’m also a huge fan of wheatgrass, so I was very excited to see the menu of Cacao Tree. I am not from Royal Oak and do not get there very often, but I took my pally-o there for her Bday lunch. We started with some wheatgrass shots and the ginger shot with the cayenne and lemon. Both were amazing and energizing. I ordered the lettuce wraps and my friend got the quesadilla. We were both very satisfied with the portion, and flavors of our meals. We could have split something because we didn’t realize the portions would be so nice and filling, but we ended up with leftovers, which is great by me. Lunch time seemed like a high stress time for the 3 employees and they didn’t seem like they were having the best day. The prices are a tad high, but it IS Royal Oak and the food was very fresh and possibly organic? Overall the meal was great, fast and left me feeling good. I would recommend Cocoa Tree Café and would like to visit again.

I have been a Vegan for about a year. And the ingredients and options here are on par with anything that I could cook or prepare raw

Definitely would recommend this to anyone that’s in this area. I was in town just for the day for work and even recommended it to my client I met with that day. I’m not vegan or vegetarian but had an incredible meal which was unique and filling– the lettuce wrap tacos. They were the right amount of spicy and simply beautiful. I wish I was in town longer to try more of their menu. Only complaint is that it’s right next to the train tracks so it’s not a good place if you want a quiet atmosphere to work/read.

Kinda pricey, but I’ve never been disappointed in the food. Get the quesadilla! It’s amazing! The green smoothie with bee pollen is also a fave. I drive 7 miles just to get this food. Superb!

The bad service put a bad taste in my mouth. I heard the service was so so but wasn’t expecting the woman there to be extremely rude when I miss pronounced something.

What a great surprise !! Staff was really friendly and helpful! It was my first time eating at this place. I had a Mexican salad and the bee well smoothie(I think that’s how it’s Called) and I was so surprised on how tasty everything was. Since I’m trying to eat healthy, this place is going to be one of my favorite spots ! Definitely recommend this to anybody!

Cacao Tree is the real deal! Great food. Raw, vegan options abound to tickle your fancy. Me and Bae tried several juices, wheatgrass shots, quesadilla wrap, and the raw cashew nut meat salad. Also the vegan queso. Everything we tasted was outstanding. Fresh. Real deal. They are sophisticated and know how to treat clientele! Yes I am a raw vegan most of the time, so this place will be a go to for me! The service was great. Unfortunately I have had experience where it seems some unenlightened people are surprised to see raw vegans of color. Time to move into the 21st century for those folks! No such nonsense here. Not at all! Excellent service and not a hint of pretentiousness. Try it and get your detox on!

This place is amazing! I’m always trying to eat as healthy as possible, so when I came across this place, I had to try it. They sell a variety of fresh juices and smoothies. I went here for lunch and got the vegan/gluten free burrito. It was amazing. I will certainly eat here again and recommend it to everyone!

Maybe I went on a bad day, but the burrito was not good at all. First of all, for $ 10 it was a very small and skinny and I am almost positive that they use store bought flour tortillas in other words not made from scratch. Second, the burrito was way too salty for my taste. Third it had no real flavor. I tasted vegetables but other than that it was flat. I much prefer the nachos and quesadillas option from the vegan place in Birmingham(Try it Raw). Their fake meat tastes like seasonings and not straight up salt. I am giving this place three stars because the smoothie, while also overpriced, was actually tasty. I had the Hawaiian with Ginger. Overall, I don’t recommend the burrito. If you want to be in Mexican food try the place in Birmingham.

Great concept. Eatery of the future. Everything is good there I recommend you try this way of life eating. The young staff are just that… Young and clueless about good service. Trendy so it will last a while but whoever owns it has to get the staff upgraded.

We have just begun a vegan-wanna-be lifestyle so this place was first on our list to try. Now that I’ve tried it, I would eat here vegan or not! We ordered the burrito, the General Tsaos lettuce wraps and a strawberry shortcake smoothie. The entrees use nuts as the base for the«meat» filling and it’s really delicious. The sour«cream»,(made from almond milk?), is A-MAY-ZING!!! Everything just tastes really really fresh and crisp and exciting, and you feel full but great afterwards. Yes, he price is STEEP… $ 32.00 for the two plates and the smoothie, but you’re paying for the quality. And honestly, this was A LOT of food for my daughter and I.(And she’s a cavernous 14). We actually would’ve been happy splitting the burrito and walking around town with it. We just wanted to try everything. The smoothies are also double servings, so if you can agree on one with a friend, you’re better off sharing.

Loved the smoothies! They were very nice when it came to answering our questions about the different fruits and powders in their smoothies. The orange creamsicle was a pretty shade of orange and it tasted just like a creamsicle. The«A Beach in Hawaii» was fantastic. It is green because of the spinach, but the tropical fruits blend together well to make a refreshing smoothie. Overall, they make delicious smoothies. They were refreshing and filling. They produce they use looks vibrant and colorful and I hope to try their other smoothies in the future.

Wanted to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance too. The food did not disappoint. I had a soup and salad combo and it was awesome. Also had a smoothie and enjoyed it thoroughly. The two other people I was with both had some type of wrap and they both liked what they got too. So all in all. Nice food but it’s definitely overpriced. If you’re vegan and in royal oak, check it out.

I initially marked down for high prices. Well, the prices are higher than most because they are the most beautifully made salads and drinks high in nutrition and the freshest ingredients I’ve tasted. I hope the business continues to thrive and grow.

I’m a land-roaming carnivore who wanted to try and pose as a vegan hipster for a whole 2 meals. After trying 2 vegetarian/vegan places in the last few days I was really impressed and thought I may have to convert! …well, maybe not, but I may be able to handle it for a meal every now and then. I got the Mexican salad, a shot of wheat grass, and the delicious dessert. I wish I knew what the dessert was because it was REALLY good, especially for it being relatively healthy. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars was the price. The large Mexican salad was $ 12, but I feel like there should have been more of the«meat» in it. I was still really hungry after. The dessert was $ 5 which I thought was too much, but honestly, it was so good, I’ll probably still buy it again! The people there seem pretty awesome, too!

If you’re a health freak, try this place. If you’re trying to eat more plant based, try this place. If you live off Taco Bell and McDonalds, try this place. I first came to Cacao Tree Café after winning a gift card there. I’ve had several things from there: burrito: 5⁄5. this is what healthy vegan dreams are made of. They have gluten free(brown rice) bread option which is great! The burrito has this amazing«sour cream» made from cashews. Highly recommended. Mexican salad: kinda like the burrito, but with a lot of lettuce and a fantastic dressing. High vibe: 4⁄5. This drink is high in protein and nutrition. It was a bit hard to get the date pieces up the straw. Root power: 1⁄5. Sadly neither of my friends nor I could swallow this. Ginger was way too overpowering and made us nauseas. However, the next time I visited they apologized and gave us a fair discount.(the staff here is GREAT, always pleasant and helpful) Please give this small business a try, they are truly something special. DISCLAIMER: their food will not satisfy your craving for a greasy, cheesy burrito.

Sorry guys, I didn’t like it. Smoothies cost around $ 7 to $ 12 and taste bad unless you’re really into vegan flavors I presume? The flavor notes are all bitter and sour, it made me imagine a raw potato. I’m open to discoveries and eat a lot of vegetables, I was also very hungry, but all that couldn’t make me finish my small cup. As a casual omnivore, my taste buds have revolted against everything I ever had from this place. If that sounds like you, cacao tree is probably a bad choice.

I have an ok relationship with this place. The smoothies are 100% every time. My only real issue is with the food. I’ve only ordered once and I found hair in it. Which I mean is technically«raw», but I couldn’t get over how much it grossed me out. It also didn’t taste the greatest – but I’m also not a vegan or raw food enthusiast. I’ll definitely keep coming back for the smoothies, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be trying their food items again.
