Screams In the Park At Rosemont

This was the first haunted house I have been to. I am a major scaredy cat, and didn’t know what to expect.
We came early and were first in line. We had bought our tickets online ahead of time. It was hard to find out where we were supposed to get the tickets. You have to wait until they open until you pick up the tickets downstairs. At that point, in the shuffle, we were no longer first in line but that’s ok!
I don’t want to give too much away but I’d say if you go with someone else or with friends, it is totally manageable, in terms of scary. I found the experience and special effects more cool then scary. The effects really make use of all your senses.
The actors really make an effort to interact with you as well. They get in your face.
Overall we had a good time! I’d recommend it.

There is no logical explanation why a bonafide scaredy cat would go to one of the scariest houses in the Chicagoland area, but I did. And I made it out without the need of a stretcher despite thinking my heart would pop out of my chest on several occasions.
Upon first walking in, I seriously preferred to sit on the LL bench and wait for my party to finish up. Hearing the screams and watching the creepy beings wandering the outskirts, I didn’t think I could stomach 30 minutes or 10 minutes for that matter. But, if the two 13 year olds were willing to brave it despite being near tears and clinging each other tightly, I decided to do it too.
As any adult knows, it’s make believe and only intended to freak you out. It did. Even the leader of our bunch jumped and flinched a handful of times. In one room, the rule was if you touch them, they will touch you. Not sure if you are ever touched back but I will leave that discovery to you.
We paid $ 45 for VIP access and as a result, we walked straight in at 9pm on a Saturday night. The regular admission price is $ 25 but there was a 2 hour wait time. Ticket price includes validated parking and a great time had by all.
Liked it better than 13^th Street Haunted House in Melrose Park.

I haven’t been to a haunted house in years, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. That said, while I’m sure better haunted houses probably exist, I was extremely impressed by Disturbia: SitP.
I was referred by
, which ranks Disturbia as #3 in the state and also notes that it takes 19 minutes to go through it, compared to a pathetic six or so minutes for The Fear at Navy Pier and a lot of other local haunted houses. Disturbia is also one of only a tiny handful of haunted houses that are CTA accessible.
I went on halloween night just after they opened, around 7:00. The line was not long; we did not wait more than twenty minutes. They were sending people through in individual groups; I went through with just my single companion, and we never ran into the groups before or after us. The waiting area was very barebones, but that was not a reflection on the experience itself.
I see no point spoiling anything that happens within, but I will say that I spent a lot of the time very disoriented, which is great; it’s hard to be afraid if you’re not disoriented. I was often startled and mildly disturbed, and at many points my poor date was so scared that she seemed to be rushing through to try and escape. A lot of the gimmicks used were pretty cool; they surprised me several times with interesting twists. I didn’t time the duration, but it seemed quite long.
Kudos to the designers and actors. I hope to go back next year!

Did I attend the same haunted house that everyone else is reviewing? Sure doesn’t seem that way… whatever. Hope you’re enjoying drinking your big cup of orange-​flavored Haterade.
I had a great experience at Disturbia – relocated from its old home in Addison, IL – when I went on the night of Saturday the 19^th. Granted, I shelled out an extra $ 10 for the VIP skip-​the-​line (I understood the wait was over an hour when I arrived), but I felt it was worth it. $ 35 is pretty steep for just a shade under 20 minutes inside, but there were enough pleasant surprises that, as a business owner, I could justify charging guests $ 25 for general admission.
I attended Screams in the Park by myself :(but in a way, going in alone enhanced my level of terror. Particularly at the beginning, when the entrance ghoul asks how many per group (for spacing/​crowd control purposes), he bellows the number down the dark corridor. He got to me and paused briefly. «Just one?» «Yes, just me.» «Hmmm…hehehe…ONE…ONE SOUL.» Made the hair on my arms stand up, and I loved it.
I don’t want to give away the fun introduction, but it’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard of, seen, or experienced in a haunted house. Let’s just say that it you get «sucked in» without warning, and there’s definitely an amusement ride aspect to it. A GREAT way to start the haunt!
The opener was awesome, but my favorite part of the haunt involved a collapsing room about halfway through. It was the single coolest thing I’ve seen at a haunted house. EVER. The novelty of this scene caught me completely off-​guard and left me with a huge smile on my face – not scary, per se, but undeniably cool.
While that scene stood out in my mind, there were several other areas I enjoyed as well. A highly-​detailed swamp scene – with animatronic snakes, mulch-​covered floors, werewolf, and a generally-​damp atmosphere – was one of the better zones. There was a room featuring a morbidly obese ‘gluttony’ sinner, reminiscent of a scene from the movie ‘Se7en’. The ever-​prevalent claustrophobia corridors made an appearance, as well. Another good portion involved a dark, narrow hallway with a slanted ceiling and bars on one end, which gave an actor chances to taunt you from above.
A few criticisms: several scares were mis-​timed, especially those involving the pop-​out picture frames that always seemed to trigger after I’d already moved on. My biggest gripe, however, would have to be the ending, which consisted of exiting the (very dark) haunt into the (very well-​lit) parking garage… with a clown casually revving a chainsaw on the other side of a metal railing, growling at us to «keep moving». At first, I thought this was just a transition to another part, but sadly, you climb a set of stairs and are back in the garage lobby.
Despite a weak ending, Disturbia: Screams in the Park had some of THE coolest features around. For those reasons alone, I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a few thrills with their chills. Being in there for nearly 20 minutes gave me enough haunt for my money. Very nicely done, guys!

Awesome haunted house & great set up! Wait time was indoors & roughly about an hour. They have movies playing so you’re not too bored & monsters working the wait lines.
I think the actors/​monsters did a great job scaring us & also being funny (picking on my boyfriend for trying to leave me). Oh, and there was enough lag in front of us we didn’t catch up to any other group. I would definitely recommend this place.

Decent
I screamed like a girl a few times.
There’s a ride they should get rid of.
Would only go again if new people were with me, but at least Iwould go again.

I go to a lot of haunted houses & I have yet to be scared. So this year out of the 3 so far, this was the best. Which is crazy, because last year we thought it wasn’t good. Not bad, but not great.
However, this year it was much better than last year. It wasn’t scary :(But it had a lot of GOOD changes. So whatever you guys changed this year, please keep it :)

We paid $ 10 more ($ 35) for the VIP service, which is basically not waiting in line over 5 minutes, and well worth it to avoid the 2-​hour wait. The house is big and has many many different types of scares! It lasted about 20 – 30 minutes, much longer than any other haunted house I have been to of the same price. We had 8 people in our group (which is the max) so we didn’t have to worry about other people behind us or in front, which has it’s pros and cons. Several members of our group were easily scared and one did push a member of the house. DON’T TOUCH THEM. They will break character. It’s a good thing he let her pass and didn’t ruin the rest of the house for us. The characters stayed in character when I entered the (actual) elevator and street, as well. Overall, best haunted house I’ve been to this year!

New year and new owners here at Screams in the Park.
I paid $ 25 on Living Social and got a ticket, free parking and a free tshirt all for the same price.
They dropped the H.H. Holmes theme this year.
They added alot of clowns and other twists as well.
But overall good.
However with new owner comes new rules.
I know alot of people who work here.
This is their pay scale if they are new its $ 25 a day if they worked there last year its $ 35 a day. Now mind you they work 8 or more hours a day. They work for 21 days and bonuses they had from previous years has been elminated as well.
Can we say slave labor???
Wal Mart treats their employees better.
Anyway a few friends who work there stated they wont be working there in future years if the pay doesn’t get better. I dont blame them.
Hopefully the new owners see this and make changes accordingly.

I loved it! I have never been so throughly frightened. Can’t wait to go this year! The costumes, were very well done. I liked how each room was not what you expected. You might think a scare was coming from one direction, and wham behind you! I was thrilled!

I read reviews of this haunted house and tried to keep an open mind about the experience, however I’m glad I was prepared. The wait was an hour long. Luckily my cousin and I had a lot of catching up to do, so that part was ok. I did fee like I was a teenager again standing in those horrifically long lines at Great America back in the day.
As far as the haunted house itself, one previous writer was spot on by saying the special effects were scarier than the actors. All they kept yelling was «get out». There was dum lighting most of the way through and only a small portion was pitch black. The only scary actor was this clown that came out of nowhere. So I’ll say go if you’re taking some kids with you, they’ll enjoy it. But if you’re a big kid like me, go somewhere scarier. I’m happy we only paid $ 9 each including parking though.

Groupon — regular price listed was $ 57 a tix, got it for $ 25 tix. Later found out website listed tix for $ 25. Groupon gave you free parking (free for everyone!), shorter line and a t-​shirt. So I spent $ 32 extra for a short line and t-​shirt. Not worth it.
Parking — horrible. Walked around aimlessly trying to find the «haunted house» due to lack of signs.
Groupon stated this haunted house is based on the first serial killer H.H. Holmes from 1800’s in Chicago. This is why I got the tix. This haunted house had nothing to do with the serial killer. Nothing!
Short line was nice. They stagger the attendees so you’re not on top of each other. Good actors. Cheesy special effects. Some lights were so bright we had to close our eyes and feel our way through and missed whatever they were showing.
I rate it a C-​. Nothing really scary about it.

Came here with the boyfriend because we had a Groupon.
GETTING THERE: A bit tricky. Drive up into the parking garage, like you are parking at Muvico. You take the elevator in the garage down to LL. The directional signs were pretty difficult to find/​see.
SCARE METER: A for effort? Some cheesy effects, some cool ones. Some effects that really fooled us! One positive– it took a long time to get through!
PARKING VALIDATION: Had no idea we had to validate parking. The groupon said «free parking» and we forgot to even think about it. Ended up paying another $ 13, so be sure you check on this. Nobody there mentioned anything about parking when we checked in for our tickets.
FINAL VERDICT: Fun date, but not very scary. I might return if I wanted to visit a nearby haunted house, but I probably would lean towards going elsewhere instead.

This is probably the only review where I dock points for «friendly staff.» I travel out of state if there’s a house worth going to and this one wasn’t even worth the hour drive. Guy in a mask takes friendly pictures with his arm around guests like they’re bff’s. And if the basis of your scare tactic is a mask, it better be a damn good one. Once inside, its basically a museum of props –and when someone DOES pop out to scare you… its just a cheesy «rawr.» Its a big place in a cool setting with lots of big props, but the makeup, acting, and line buildups ruin it. Worth $ 10? I’ve paid more for worse. Worth the drive and gas? Probably would have just gone to muvico.

It’s been probably 20 years since I”ve went to a haunted house. We went with a large group of people-​there were 12 of us. We had to split up to go inside. I would recommend small groups like 4 or less-​the surprises are much better! The actors were great and we were in the «house» for about 20 minutes walking through it. We really had some good screams and laughs.
Make sure you wear closed-​toe flat shoes because there are parts with actual dirt on the ground. Also use the bathroom beforehand and eat something-​the wait is long if you don’t get there right away!
I did not give 5 stars because of the wait-​we had to wait over an hour in line because people were allowed to buy VIP passes to give then priority in line. It wasn’t as stuffy down there but it would have been nice to have some entertainment while waiting. How about a magician or some videos?
There was also this bizarre older couple in front of us who would just dilly dally and ruined some of the scares for us –so perhaps more ‘gate keepers’ are needed to push the weirdos along.
All said and done-​we did have a lot of fun-​excellent set up-​I would go again!

We went last night to Screams in the Park… The definitely scariest and horror filled part of this haunted house is the 2.5 hour wait in line… Yup…Got in line at 8:44pm (i know the exact time from the validation stamp on our parking ticket) and finally finished at 11:36pm…so if you are ready to devote 3 hours of your evening, plus any travel time… then i say be my guest… otherwise i would pass on this one… plus if you are ready to fight with people cutting in front of you when you have been standing in line in a quite uncomfortably warm room for hours. and security not caring to do much about these evil line cutters… then ok but i feel not worth it… now the actual haunted house was alright, honestly gave us a few pretty good scares and i may have given better review and an extra star if not for these horrid issues this year… by the time i got out of this long ordeal, i was in a zombie state myself…

Wow they really stepped it up this year! I love when places listen to their customers and make changes. We went last year (their first year) and liked it well enough, but they really improved it this time around. My biggest complaint last year was that the acting was seriously lacking. Actors can make or break your haunted house. This year they were excellent!
I loved that every time I turned around there was someone, not just standing there but completely in character, creeping up on me. Awesome. There was one guy who was standing so still I couldn’t tell if he was real or not, even as we were right next to him. When we were close to leaving the room I said, «Ahh ok he’s not real.» Just then he takes off after us. Scared the beejebus out of me!
The overall atmosphere was really well done and it took a while to get through, so even though I got really cheap tickets, I felt it would have been worth the regular admission price.
My only complaints is that since it moved to the garage this year I had no idea where it was and there weren’t any signs. We parked and then just assumed we had to go to the elevators even though we were told it was in the garage. It would have helped if we were also told to take the elevators as there were no signs in the garage. Also the only reason we knew parking was included was because the girl at the ticket counter asked us if we had a parking ticket for validation. Otherwise we would of ended up paying the $ 13.
We went on opening night so I can only imagine they got better as the season has gone on. Of the three haunts we went to this year (also Psychosis in Elgin and Asylum Xperience in Villa Park) this was my favorite. Great job guys!

I have always loved going to haunted houses and it is something I have done every Halloween for years… I don’t think I will ever grow out of it. I have been to many, and this is definitely one of the best. And definitey the best one I have been to in the last several years.
The folks who are in charge of this one take it seriously! A lot of detail is put into this one. This is not your average haunted house, where bored teens dressed in cheap costumes jump out and halfheartedly attempt to scare you while holding their Iphones (yes I have seen this). The folks in charge of this, and the actors participating, really put their all into this. With great results. My heart was honestly pounding! Good job on scaring this haunted house veteran.

Great haunted house!!! This is my second year going to it and was not disappointed. In my opinion that its scarier if you go in with a smaller group (Id say 3 people) rather than 5 or 6. I guess that just makes sense. Also, if youre scared they will single you out just to scare the crap out of you even more! Had alot of fun.

Chicagoland’s newest haunted attraction is just a hop, skip and a jump
(a creep, crawl and a lurch is more like it) from the Rosemont Blue Line.
Located in the parking lot a few feet from the Muvico 18 Theater, ve saw that it was actually in a tent and not in a park, vhich vas kind of disappointing at first, but as ve approached the entrance with its elaborate skull façade, ve knew that this would be a force to be reckoned vith.
There vas really no wait entertainment, save for a couple random characters roaming the lot. But it didn’t matter as there vas no wait. upon entry a spooky character took your ticket and let your group into the madness! Bwahahahaha…
As our group vandered the house, ve observed many frightening, gory scenes. So much attention vas given to detail ve almost forgot that ve vere in a tent. For the first time in ages, I was actually a bit spooked in a haunt… and I am extremely jaded about these things. Definitely not for kids!
At the end there vas a small merchandise area and an extra attraction vhere you can get inside a coffin and experience a simulated ride inside of going to your final rest ;).
