Came here to get a chicken patty and the the chicken patty had NO chicken, but a chicken jelly substance inside. Being that I’m very health conscious, I had to throw the patty away, because I didn’t know what the suspicious chicken jelly contained. The crust was really good though, but I unfortunately won’t be getting patties from here for a long time!

This is one of the best Jamaican restaurants in New York City hands down. Every time I’ve gone to this restaurant this soup is amazing(chicken soup) in parentheses. If you want oxtails rice and peas and cabbage this is the place to go. Today I finally tried the fried chicken and the leg was huge! The flavor? Down to the bone… For a dollar $ 1.60 who says no to that? My boyfriend visits this restaurant on a regular basis and it is consistently good. He says the jerk chicken is good as well. Will be back on a weekly basis(as usual).

Tried this place after hearing multiple rave reviews from a young co-worker of Jamaican heritage. I tried the beef patties, curried goat, and jerk chicken. Reasonable prices, generous portions, and ample spices made for an interesting gastronomic adventure. Cash only policy was unposted, and more than a little inconvenient, Fairly quick take-out service was less pleasant than I’d hoped, as the 2 counterwomen seemed bored, borderline lethargic, with a dash of surly. My fist experience with the chain won’t be my last, though I doubt if I’d return to this location.

Three months later and this place still is having«machine» problems. They have signs on the outside saying they accept credits cards, but when you come in they tell you their machine is not working — and look they just happen to have a ATM in the restaurant(with a $ 1 copay) that you can get cash. You may think that its just for that day they are having machine problems(that’s what they want you to think) — but they have had that sign up for over 6 months — not sure why they just don’t tell customer that they don’t accept credit cards. I think it bugs me because it exemplifies how«shady» this business is acting. Just doesn’t seem very professional to me. And the food is still«Meh.»

Their food is okay. And by that, I mean just ‘okay’ …I’ve had better. Personally? I rather visit the Jamaican flavors restaurant on Springfield. Their patties however, are so delicious! Staff? Meh. They could miss me with the attitude. They have decent food and tasty patties.

when the craving for a patty takes over then this is the place its a big dingy sparse looking establishment I am not sure I want to sit and eat here but they do have tables assorted pattys which you can order frozen so they survive the trip home we buy a bunch and put them in the freezer Don’t let the dinginess and mostly unfriendly staff deter you from stopping by and getting yourself a few pattys we like the beef, the chicken and the veggie they do sell coco bread but it was given to us in the plastic bag from where ever they get it from not very impressive

If you are a true New Yorker you have been to at least one Golden Krust location. I have had so many Jamaican beef patties over the years that I don’t eat them any more. In fact I don’t eat beef much any more since cancer. But I got the jerk chicken patty this time, it is awesome! They have a full menu of meals and bakery goods. This particular location is not the best. I like the one in Jamima Queens on Hillside. But I don’t usually take pictures there. But I have had most of everything on the menu at the Jamaica Queens location. That location seems spicier. This location the spices are toned down. Next to Mei Li Wah in China town Golden Krust has the cheapest tastiest little meals in the 5 boros!

Pretty good eats by the acre mall. My shorty likes the ox tail. Price is ok. Mostly a take out joint.

This is one of those places that I know I shouldn’t visit for the benefit of my health, but do so anyway. About once a year, I get a craving for those odd, yellowish colored Jamaican beef patties. When the craving hits, this is the place to go. Golden Krust has your standard beef patties, as well as a jerk chicken patty and some other flavors that I don’t recall. The jerk chicken has a strange curry flavor that is not really my thing, so I tend to stick to the beef. They have a few side dishes to choose from, the best and most notable being the sweet plantains. Don’t get anything else, just do yourself a favor and get those. I have bestowed 3 stars on Golden Krust instead of 4 because the patties could admittedly use a little more meat. They’re a little flat and under stuffed for my liking, but still tasty nonetheless.
