Wayback Burgers

I go to Wayback Burgers monthly on average.
The food:
The burgers are tasty and it’s nice to get a quick burger that actually looks like ground beef. The consistency of the meat seems a higher quality than the fast food giants. Yes, they’re greasy, especially with multiple patties, but it’s a burger for crying out loud! Better than it being all dried out and a dreadful experience to choke down, or something that is called «beef» but you aren’t so sure… The fries are tasty and look like they came from actual potatoes. Onion rings are okay but not worth writing home about. Same goes for the skakes, not bad, not amazing, just decent. I haven’t tried anything besides burgers, fries, rings, and shakes. The food is consistent too.
Service & Price:
Service is quick overall and the employees at this location are always pleasant. Yes, you won’t have your meal in 30 seconds… but that’s a good thing since it’s always as fresh as possible. The prices are a bit high. For a cheesey burger, small fries, and drink at $ 12, that’s a bit steep. But I would rather pay the extra 4 – 5 bucks over the big fast food restaurant’s equivalent.
Verdict:
Wayback Burgers is a solid establishment for what it is. I feel like these higher end burger chains (Mooyah, Wayback, 5 Guys) overall are perfect for a quick meal and offer much better quality than the big 3 fast food brands.

Not impressed. Burger was okay, but super expensive. I would just go to Five Guys if I were you.

Wayback burgers is an enigma to me. Let’s start with the classic cheeseburger. It was a really good two patty burger hand formed and seasoned perfectly. The cheese was good and the bun was just right. The fries are very good. They look hand cut and taste almost as good as another Guy’s burger joint that pushes the same style fries. My son had a hot dog. The hot dog was grilled and split. It was tasty, but salty. The bun was very dense and too much. A New England roll would have been better. My wife had the chicken fingers. The chicken was excellent while the crust was ok. It could have used a little more seasoning. So, all in all the food is 4 stars, but it’s enigma since it only seems worth going there if you have a coupon since it feels expensive since everything is a la carte.

So reading a lot of the reviews on Unilocal about this place being dirty or bad customer service… Idk what they are talking about. Maybe just old reviews? The place was clean inside and out. Tables were clearly clean. There wasn’t a single fry on the floor or really ANYTHING that would make you go «ew».
The staff was attentive and being this was my first time I had to take a few moments looking at the menu… She asked if I knew what I wanted and when I said no she told me to take MY time and let her know when I was READY… To me that’s huge… I can’t stand places that tell u to let them know when you are ready and then they half harass you 30 seconds later.
I read the menu… Which isn’t all that extensive. Reminded me of capital lunch in new Britain or Augey and Rays in east Hartford… Dogs.burgers.shakes. PERIOD.
I opted for a single Jake burger (cheeseburger with my opt in toppings) and onion rings with a chocolate malt milkshake.
The person BEHIND the counter brought my milkshake out to me at my table instead of calling me over to get it. And shortly after the cook called me over (open kitchen) to hand me my burger and onion rings.
As for the food:
The burger was decent… Nothing special at all… I felt like they could merge SONIC and this place and not have to change the burgers… I couldn’t tell the difference. Not overly greasy… But the patty was without a doubt small/​thin… My tomato slice was thicker than the meat… Not impressive… In THAT respect I would have rather had SONIC.
The onion rings TASTED good but were clearly just out of the fryer and did not get the chance to drip for a few minutes or even get tossed into a grease catcher first (paper material much like that of a McDonalds cup holder used to catch grease before putting fried food on plate)… So wasn’t exactly happy with them
. Could tell if I ate to many out of my SIDE order I would have spent most of the day on the porcelain throne.
The shake… I could tell was made with fresh ice cream and not that liquefied from the bag garbage. However wasn’t really anything I couldn’t make at home for less money.
