We were referred here from Metropolitan Emergency Animal Clinic after our beloved dog had sudden onset syncope(passing out). The ER vet immediately knew it was his heart and referred us to the vet cardiologists of CVCA at Hope Advanced Animal Center in Rockville. The very next day, they saw us. When we arrived, there was a huge sign that said, «Welcome, Citeaux» … what a nice touch when going through such a difficult time. Everyone was so nice and showed compassion and empathy from the receptionist to the nurse and cardiologist. Jen, the nurse, was so nice and explained everything that she did. You know how most vet animal exam tables are a sterile, cold steel? Not theirs… it was a nice clean comfy carpet surface. Dr. Hickey was excellent, he explained exactly what was going on, the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment. He was up front, but with compassion. All our questions were answered, and we never felt rushed. We are so fortunate in this area to have this service. I grew up in rural NW Ohio, and I couldn’t help but think that my family at home would never have this as an option… you’d just have to see your pet slowly die/suffer. Even though this is a shock, a new chapter in our lives, at least we know we have a year left with our loved one and we know he will have good care.
