I’ve visited the Rockford, IL Macy’s store several times now over the past 9 or so years since Marshall Fields was acquired by Macy’s. Maybe I’m just remembering the exceptional service(not to mention the Frango Mints) of this store’s «hey-day» as Fields, but the customer service in the Rockford Macy’s is pretty low-class. Never enough clerks, and the ones I’ve run into are over-extended, unprofessional, and rude. I miss the old Marshall Field’s tradition of wonderful service provided by well-trained, cheerful, and always helpful staff that had worked at the store for many years. So very sad. Leave it to Macy’s to swallow up yet another great old retail icon. I won’t bother with this store again when Bergner’s is in the same Mall!

Very, very average, but tends to be on the messy side. I only shop here because of the MAC counter.

This Macy’s location is a joke. The selection is so poor that we typically make the trek into Woodfield.

I’ve been here a handful of times now. Each time, I wait a considerable amount of time for an associate to become available. I’ve experienced a number of occasions now where once they become available, they still don’t know how to do the thing requested and have to call for help. Decent selection of the size of the store, but I wish it were bigger.

Will never shop here again! Purchased jeans on a buy one get one free special. Come to find out you can’t return both pairs! The free pairs you have to keep. Makes no sense to me but I should’ve went with my first mind and went to Bergners where they ALWAYS have better sales and send you TONS of coupons if you give them your email address. DONE!

Shoe sale! Armed with a Macy’s credit card and coupon for 20% off, I came to Macy’s with the intent of looking at sundresses. I happen to park by the entrance that is nearest the shoes(Coincidence? I think not…) and saw the sale. After skimming the options and possible prices, I left for other mall stores. If figure if I’m still thinking about the shoes an hour or two later, I should look again and consider buying. Was I still thinking about shoes? Of course I was. I found a pair of sexy, brown gladiators and was expecting to pay $ 40(before the coupon), and with the sale it was $ 34(less than $ 30 in the end). Guess it pays to park by that entrance! I will be drowning in sandals by the end of the summer… Bottom line: moderate to expensive prices– look for the sales and coupons to get the best deal
