My boyfriend and I were excited to try this place. The food was very confusing because some was good and the rest unbelievably confusingly bad. We ordered everything to go I might add. First was the steak sub which was good not great. Not much steak and pretty dry as well. The foot long portion is huge however, the sa which is very big. We were dying for soup and the de jour was buffalo chicken soup. Sounds great but I cannot describe to you how unbelievably bad this«soup» was. The consistency was of extra thick nacho cheese and so salty I thought my heart would stop. We dipped a fry in it and it stuck in clumps on the fry. My friend also got the nacho which are better known as tortilla chips Apperantly. Sour cream and salsa and cheese on the side. This was probably the most dissapointing $ 9.50 + tax he has ever spent. All around not going back if you do go get a burger my friend said those are good

The angry goat burger is delicious, beers are solid, bartenders are attentive, and the atmosphere is nice and chill. Great place to go.

We had come up for a show that night from Cleveland and were staying at a local Air B&B listing. After seeing a banner at the venue and driving by while trying to find some late night grub we decided to check it out. Being tired from the drive up we ordered our food to go. Both our burgers were huge and very filling! I had the black bean burger and it was wonderful, full of flavor. I snagged some of my boyfriend’s fries which were delicious as well. The bar itself was a charming corner bar with darts and games to enjoy. The staff was very warm and welcoming. We would certainly come back to enjoy if we find ourselves in Rochester again. Kudos! :)

Seriously, the best smothered fries I’ve ever had. I honestly have never ordered anything else but my husband got a burger the last time and it was amazing as well. Drinks are always good and reasonably priced and the live music is nice. I’ve never had a bad experience and I love that their kitchen is open late.

I went here with my boyfriend and some of his friends from high school when we were in town for the holidays. The setting looks nice, it seemed clean and I actually liked the way the room was laid out. Looks like they had some pool tables in a back room but I didn’t go in there. The bartender was very friendly and got our drinks quickly. I don’t remember what I was drinking but it must not have been great or terrible, an efficient drink. I did order frys and they were very very good! So, maybe it was just the night we went but they were playing techno or house or something really awful. They seemed to have a decent dance area and they had a DJ, but techno? Really? I couldn’t wait to get out of there with that sound. My overall takeaway: unless you like techno, I would check out their website(I’m sort of assuming they have one) before going here as it was very loud and for me ruined an otherwise decent bar.

Pros: Best wings in Rochester, hands down. Burgers rival that too. The truffle burger to be specific. Solid rotating draft beer selection. Most the bartenders are great except for a bad apple or two. Cons: Half the bar is cut off from the rest so if you’re trying to watch the game with a seat you’re sectioned off from everyone else. I’ve had Jack Daniels shots here sober that I’ve questioned if it was watered down. Overall it’s still a go to for food and a easy going setting.

This establishment has a great beer selection along with some of the best bar food in the city. This especially goes for the wings. In addition, the place is vary friendly with a good neighborhood feel.

Since my last review I have been several more times as I now crave the goat cheese burger on a regular basis. I’ve gotten my husband addicted too. All that yummy melted goat cheese smeared all over a juicy, flavorful meat patty. Love it! I’d even go so far as to say it may be the best burger in Rochester. Yep. I said it. It just may be!

I can only review the bar, not the food. We went here in a Sunday afternoon. The place is very clean. The bartender was very friendly, made us feel very welcomed. Their menu looks great, so next time we are in the Rochester area, we will be back to try their food.

I have been back many, many times since my original review and needed to update. For drinks: they have a small list of beers of on tap but they are ALWAYS good ones. I’ve also had some freakin’ delicious cocktails here too. The food is standard pub fare but tasty and affordable. $ 10 gets you a massive, delicious burger with more fries than you should be eating. My boyfriend is cruising through all their roast beef offerings and loving every one of them. We live right down the road and come in once a month or so. We end up seeing a neighbor. Chatting with the person next to us. Inevitability, someone puts an AWFUL song on the choose your own jukebox thing at some point and everyone hates them. It’s all part of the charm of the place. I think the service is pretty great. They have one of the most personable bartenders I’ve encountered. She takes her time to chat with everyone there, makes excellent cocktails and even remembers your orders. Kind of makes you feel at home! It’s a great place to come in and have a beer.

Not thrilled with the first experience at Angry Goat, but plan on going back to check it out again when the gears are more greased. The entrance to the place brings you right into the bar area. The small dining area is around the corner from the bar and there aren’t many tables. As far the beer selection, it’s commendable, and I like the fact that they list the beers that are«on deck,» giving you something to look forward to in the future. The weird thing is, the beer didn’t taste fresh. Is that weird? These taps must be newly minted — or are they? Both of us thought something was a little«off» with our beers, but the bartender was aloof enough that we didn’t feel comfortable asking or saying much about it. The clientele was very mixed, but almost in a caricature kind of way: the jock-frat guys standing in a corner with sweaty softball gear, the slightly vintage/slightly goth patent-leather-Mary-Jane girls in the corner, the G-T-L(gym-tan-laundry) crowd perusing the cocktail list. I liked that it was a huge mix of people. The only drawback was that it seemed like the staff and a small crowd of regulars near the back of the bar were in a clique of their own. This detracted from the service as well. They all had their inside jokes and took over about 1⁄3 of the bar, giving off the impression that this place already had its«crew» and wasn’t really interested in presenting itself to invite others in. Part of this is probably just a symptom of its location and the«neighborhood» feel to it. Dicky’s has that cliquey but homey vibe and it works. I’ll likely head back to the Angry Goat in the future for a beer. It did have a weird feng shui, but doesn’t every new place, before it gets in its groove?

We were excited to check out this new pub as we watched them transform on Facebook along the way. I will echo the previous poster regarding the unfriendly, cold, female bartender we experienced this past Saturday afternoon. They posted specials on their FB page for Derby day and we were excited to try their take on the mint julep with the twist of using basil. When we ordered said cocktail we got a roll of the eye as she attempted to assemble this too sweet version. I had a Victory Pils, which was served too warm. Not a great start. Next up we sampled the all too common bar snack of the year; Pretzels with mustard sauce. These deep fried, from NYC we were told were actually delicious. We finished up and moved onto another place we know all too well and were greeted like old friends. We will be back. I hope these growing pains ease a bit and I hope the bartender learns to smile and appreciate the distinct difference in clientele on a Saturday afternoon versus a Saturday night. Smile. Be nice. Engage your customers and for God’s sake don’t roll your eyes when a NEW customer orders a cocktail on the menu.

I will preface this review in saying that this place just recently opened and I do see a lot of potential here. Unfortunately, in it’s current state, it is deserving of such a low rating. I was very excited to go to this place because it is right around the corner from me and from pictures of the menu, the food sounded very enticing. I also enjoy craft beers and their list of drafts seemed to come from a palate after my own heart. Upon arrival, the drinks were great but the food and service definitely lacked. This place should be stupid easy to be successful. The location, a massively busy intersection with a supportive neighborhood, good beer, a newly renovated space with great updates, and a menu that makes your mouth water when you read it. The problem with the Angry Goat lies within the basics. I ordered the French Onion Soup and it came out looking good except for the fact that it arrived with a spoon already in it. A plastic spoon. Silverware is not used at all here and apparently placing plasticware inside of your food is their idea of presentation. The food was dropped and the server took off. No questions were asked, no eye contact made. No napkins? No salt? Pepper? Condiments? Nothing. All of our glasses were clearly empty as well. In a group of 3 we ordered a total of 3 items off of the menu. One of the members of our party ordered the pretzels appetizer and after 45 minutes she asked the server if her food was close to coming out and the server said that she completely forgot about it but would give her a free beer and then put the order right in. 10 minutes later she received her appetizer by the server plopping it down and saying sorry but quickly fleeing away, again not asking any questions. With 2 empty glasses and our need for napkins and such, I walked up to the bar and grabbed what I needed and placed our order with the bartender. I also placed an order for the Philly Steak Sandwich at the bar as well, as our server didn’t seem to be anywhere within reach. It arrived in a decent amount of time but again with no silver(plastic)ware and also no napkins/condiments. It was dropped off at the table and the server took off. After another trip to the bar to get some plasticware and napkins, it didn’t get much better. The Philly Steak sandwich is on a hamburger bun. Not a deal breaker, if the sandwich is delicious I get it, but it wasn’t. Everyone associates a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with some sort of hoagie/sub roll and I get one could take a classy gastropub variation and deviate from this or improve on the classic, but this just simply seemed like a cheap alternative to only have burger buns for everything on the menu. This sandwich failed to deliver on other elements as well as the steak was overcooked/rubbery and the peppers on it were nearly raw and severely undercooked. I don’t write too many reviews on here and I am not one to be overly picky but I write this because this place is so young and has so much potential, I would love to see it become a staple in such a great community. With some focus on the basics like good service and pleasing the customer, this place could be a goldmine. At it’s current state, I reluctantly say it deserves the one star I’ve given it.

The Angry Goat is packed for opening weekend. They have a half dozen beers on tap, but they’re a half dozen good ones. A specialty cocktail list names 10 specialty cocktails at $ 9 a pop. The Scorpion is about 12 ounces of sweet deliciousness. It’s too soon(and too packed) to really understand the lasting valur, but my initial reaction is thumbs-up all around. I’m just so excited to have my neighborhood bar back, and how. It’s plain to see this blows Elixer straight out of the water.
