This place is number one bar in all of Rochester. I came here on my way to Canada, to attend a forum about rare bird eggs. First time in Canada, and I have a lot of fun. Caverly’s was highly recommended and when I arrived it was not disappointing. In many ways, Caverly’s(Cavs to those in the know) is ideally situated next to the pizza place and the gay coffee shop. A triangle of warmth in the South Wedge of the warm city of Rochester. Owner Dan, please come to Presov in Slovak Republic.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this pub. If I ever have a choice of where I want to have a drink, this is the place. I feel more comfortable here than I do at any other pub! The owner is fantastic, the bar tenders are all friends, and the patrons are old souls that I love. If you need a place where people want to know you and treat you right, this is the right choice. There isn’t another pub like it anywhere I’ve been. I love this pub, the owner and staff, and the patrons. Caverly’s deserves your support! ! You will find yourself a regular in no time wondering why you wasted so much time on bars that advertise too much. If you drink Guiness, you will not find a fresher pour anywhere.

A group of 6(2 out of towners) of use came here one Friday night recently because we were looking for a causal, dive bar style atmosphere. None of us had ever been here, so we really didn’t know what to expect. It was pretty much as expected, but when we walked in, it smelled really bad in there, like moldy, wet, carpet. the bar was very busy, though, so people seem to really like the place. We decided to just leave before getting a drink and went down the street to another bar. We wanted our out of town friends to come visit us again, so we wanted to go to a place they would remember for the right reasons, not the smell. I wouldn’t be against giving this place another shot, but it would take a lot of convincing to choose it over any other place in the area.

Caverly’s is the best! It has a great atmosphere with a friendly people. I love that the pub is located in the South Wedge, which has many food and drink chooses if you want to hop around. I recommend starting and ending at the night with Caverly’s if you’re bar hopping. Otherwise, kick back in the put, have some tasty Ginnuess, and get some pizza from across the street.

This is a very nice little pub with a friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere… There’s a nice area to sit outside when the weather is nice… No food here which is the only downside to this pub… Even a small kitchen space would make a big difference when people are drinking and looking for some chow to go with it… Try this spot out for some live music and cold brews…

We love Cav’s. It’s walking distance from our home. The bartender/owner is kind and knowledgable on what he’s serving us. Good selection of beers and whiskey. It’s exactly what you expect from a neighborhood pub. Clean too gotta love that!

Quick one on a lazy Sunday. Caverly’s is a definitive neighborhood local bar and if you live in the South Wedge, I’m sure you already know about it. Not fancy in any way, but the drinks are cheap and plentiful(not for me, but friends enjoy it) and there is usually a dart board open(3 total) to play a few games. The back room is our typical hang out spot and it has enough seating for 10 or so people with reasonable comfort. Music is never too loud and it is more of hangout and conversation place than a party bar in the A Street vein. Kind of nice not to write an epically long review sometimes… refreshing!

Great little pub. Cheap drinks, friendly staff, and room for games. There are pool tables and dart boards and plenty of seating far from the danger of flying pointy needles. There are also tables outside for summer nights. Lots of local sports teams are sponsored by Caverly’s so you’ll often find 20somethings in their team t-shirts enjoying a beer after a game. I’m not super sporty(read: unathletic and uninterested), but I like the crowd it draws. It’s a great little neighborhood place to hang out!

Small, no real outdoor seating just chairs on the sidewalk, small inside and nothing flashy. OK beer selection

This is definitely going to become one of my regular bars this summer. I live within walking(or stumbling, depending on the number of drinks) distance and I finally stopped in for a pint the other night. I thought my beer might have been on special. Only $ 4? Nope, they’re all that cheap. The Guiness is normally $ 4.50 but was on special for $ 4 that night. I tried a raspberry ale and a cider. Pleased with both. The service was friendly and it seemed like there were a lot of regulars hanging out. It can get loud at night since people are out on the patio(they also have a food stand parked outside on the weekends) — I know this because I’m close enough to be kept awake by it. Definitely smells like beer and feels like a pub. But it works for this place.

Most authentic Irish bar in Rochester — real people with stories to tell, laid back and enough to keep you busy with darts and pool. Good beer selection at a good price.

In short, a great little Irish pub with great-tasting Guinness. On the edge of the wedge, this pub is clearly run by people with passion for craic. It’s usually packed with regulars — and these people range in age from 20s to 70s, so don’t be afraid of not fitting in! Not a college hangout, more of a neighborhood haunt. Caverly’s has had a steady following since it opened. No food served here, just great pints! ** I’m so confused, because I really thought I’d written a review of Caverly’s in the past. Maybe it was deleted?

This place oozes of Guiness everywhere you look. The walls, the floors, the drinks, and of course the people! Even the bartenders wear kilts, and there is a countdown clock to St. Patty’s Day is above the door. We went here on a Friday night where they have live music, which brought the experience to even more Irish! The small bar is immediately on the right when you walk in, and the place was crowded with a mix of ages from early twentys to late sixtys. Wasn’t expecting it, but everyone enjoys a little live Irish music! A lot of people were talking by the bar, limiting access to it, and when I did get up front, the bartenders weren’t really even proactive when I got there. Yes, standing with money in my hands, looking at you in the eye, means I’d like a Guinness. It’s ok, I definitely love the shamrock they put on top of the Guinness thou. We found this smaller back room that allowed us to have some conversations and play darts while listening to the live music. It was funny to note, that we found a plague in the back that states Caverly is actually an English name, ironic! Irish carbombs are only $ 5, which is a complete steal, and got a second one right before we left. For some Irish music, and Guinness, Caverly’s the way to go!

Excellent local bar. Does not go out of the way to be «trendy» or «hip» but sports the nicest of patrons. Good for meeting friends, drinks are not too pricey. Can get little venice to bring you a pie if needed: D Outdoor seating in when not freezing!

Great little Irish bar on South Ave, you can meet the owner Dan, he is very welcoming, and genuine, and they are always playing some good Pogues or Flogging Molly on the Jukebox… you can also play pool and darts. They have a good mix of Irish beer, and this is a true neighborhood bar!!! The only thing they are missing are a few TV’s, but in true pub fashion, they aren’t there ;)
