Time to make gifts for all the lovelies in your life. I happened on Bead Breakout for some beads I needed for a knitting project. Couldn’t help but check out the display that was there & they told me I could come tonight for something that caught my eye. Of course, I could NOT pass up making a beautiful necklace. It was a nice night out with the ladies & now have a pretty pearl adornment. You can check the classes out on their face book page. There is a large variety of beads & other such baubles w/an array of chains, cording & such. I recommend for some time out & not so expensive gift making. Price depends on what you buy, of course.

If you need beads or other small jewelry items, it’s very tempting to go to the bix box stores. The problem is that there is very little help, and if you get to talk to someone, they probably know very little about what you’re talking about. In this store, you get help and the sales person spends time with you, and makes sure you get what you need. Bring notes or images of what you want, and they’ll either get it or point you in the right direction. I am not into this type of craft much, so for me, when I am trying new things, this is invaluable

I took my daughter(age 10) and her friend here yesterday. It was my first time in the shop. Where to begin with the praise… We were warmly greeted by two friendly women, Deb and Barb. My daughter and her friend began exploring the many containers of beads. They took genuine delight in watching the girls rummage and I never got the impression(that you often get in stores when you let your kids explore on their own) that the owners were anything but delighted to watch the girls creating. Barb pulled out a large wood bin of «scrap» beads and encouraged the girls to rummage through these beads because they would be so inexpensive.(The beads in this bin were great, everything from seed beads to hematite hearts.) It was very thoughtful of her to pull out the clearance bin for the girls. I have never done beading before, so I decided to sit back and watch, which is very comfortable to do at the large table in the lower room, a table, I might add that is sitting in front of a real fireplace… perfect ambiance! My daughter came to the table and showed me what she had. I became intrigued by some beads she had chosen and wondered if I could make something from these wonderful beads. Deb came over to check if the girls needed anything, and I asked where I would begin if I wanted to make some earrings from the beads my daughter found. Deb immediately got her tools, grabbed a few head pins laying around, and helped me add other beads(all from this discount bin) and showed me how to make a pair of earrings. In about 20 minutes, I had a pair of hand designed earrings that looked nicer than anything I’ve seen in your average earring shop and even nicer than what you often find at One World Goods(which has gorgeous earrings!). I was so excited and immediately felt them to be the perfect gift to give for a friend’s birthday. And the cost for these custom made earrings? About $ 4.30!!! But they look like $ 25 earrings easily! Also, when we were checking out, my daughter’s friend had chosen a $ 2 lobster claw clasp, but Barb put that one back in a bin, chose a less expensive one for her that was even better quality. The girls had each filled a small plastic bag with beads from the clearance bin; she charged them maybe .25 for the whole bag. I entered this store as a dutiful mother letting her daughter get some beads. I left the store totally hooked on making my own custom jewelry, and feeling confident that I can do it! Five stars is not enough to rate this store. With their appealing merchandising in an absolutely comfortable atmosphere, combined with their warmth and expertise, the owners of Bead Breakout deserve all the success in the world! Congrats ladies on a stunning example of the best that small businesses have to offer! Postscript: We returned the next day for a special«trunk» sale. The place was packed, and Deb and Barb were there and treated us just as nicely as they did when we were the only ones in the store. And the owner, Andrea, came up to me, introduced herself, and was equally as approachable and helpful. Even when the store was packed, I felt just as welcome and found everyone to be just as helpful.

Beads on a string and loose beads in bins. It’s really not hard to guess what is in this store. Though, I will admit we sat in the car for a minute worried we were just not hip to some new exercise program(it was the word«breakout» in the name that worried us). We found this little shop on our way to lunch at a new place so I was keeping an eye on all the buildings looking for address numbers and business names. We made a note of this store and decided to stop in on our way back as we are fixing up an old chandelier. I think the shop is an old house, but it might be a new house made simply for the shop and to look like an old house. This is not really important. What is important is there’s sufficient space to move around without feeling like you’re going to bump into things, which is often the case with small stores like this. It’s not super spacious, but not ridiculously cramped either. It’s separated into two rooms of beads, one that seems to be finished bracelets and such, another that is bulk-like beads you can pick through, as well as some clasps and strands. We rummaged through the loose beads and strands, trying to get a grasp on what we wanted but also taking note of the prices… so we could compare online. Which … I must say… things were about half the cost. There was also a lack of large gems, the kind you might find hanging on a chandelier, but I guess this store is focused on beads for jewelry not beads for crafts. Which. you’d think they could just add an extra bucket of big chunky beads. Maybe they just don’t get much inquiry on these items. The owner was polite and seemed oddly passionate about beads, but I guess it’s her thing. The price is just okay considering you’ll need to buy at least 2 strands to make your own necklace. This is my first experience with beads at this level, but I would imagine it could get fairly pricey to make your own jewelry at these rates. Of course, you probably would find a wholesale source for beads if it got to that point, but then, I ask you, who is this store geared towards? I wouldn’t think casual«beaders» would be enough to support a full scale shop. It is not for me to question, but I’ll be back if I have a bead emergency or need just a couple to fix a sweater or something though I don’t think I’ve got many beaded sweaters… maybe I had a damaged bead curtain… I honestly can’t think of much of a reason I’d ever need just a few beads… I may try another bead store or just give in and order what I need online.
