I could spend hours browsing the shelves of any Barnes & Noble. This one is no exception. This B&N caters to local university students but it also great for non-students. The children’s section has a reasonable variety of books and games, though it could use more bilingual books. You can also find sweatshirts, jacket, and caps with local themes. There are even little bears with scrubs which are totally appropriate given the store’s proximity to the hospital. Great location right on the corner of Mt Hope and Elmwood. There is a parking lot in the back or you may find off street parking. It’s within walking distance of the hospital and several restaurtants and cafes.

This Barnes & Noble is really cool, if you’re a student at the University of Rochester. This is a place where you can buy your books for school and also shop for some cool U of R apparel and accessories. They have so many things for a reasonable price, which is usually difficult to find in any University Bookstore. They had tons of shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, socks, gloves, keychains, hats, lunch boxes, you name it. They had sections separated for people who were involved with the business school, medical school and the nursing program, among other departments. They sold a variety of brands, including Champion, which is a high quality material, again sold for a reasonable price. In addition to the University apparel, they had a small section for books found in Barnes and Noble, but again, the store is primarily used for textbooks and apparel, so the options were fairly limited. They had a small counter of holiday items discounted around 50%. This store is located on the corner so it is very easy to see, the good thing is there is plenty of parking in the back with a back door entrance to make it convenient to come in and out without worrying about finding a parking spot on the street. I didn’t make my way upstairs so I am curious to know what’s up there besides textbooks!

It’s a nice new building with a decent selection for the size; it’s not like Pittsford’s. This is a unique Barnes & Nobles because it’s attached to Saxby’s Coffee, so it doesn’t have an attached café. There are plenty of seats and tables: one tall/long table with 8 – 10 seats(shared space), a several, normal height tables and a couple hidden comfy chairs(see pictures). They have a fun little kids section and hold lots of events for children and their families.

This is a college location in the new CollegeTown development. So, it doesn’t have the usual amenities or selection. With a new Saxby’s Coffee next door, a Starbuvks across the street and several other eating spots, I’m not surprised that they didn’t add in a café. There is a small general section and a small kid’s section though.

Revisited to see improvements. None. Very limited selections. No café. Maybe after it is completed, it will be a cozy place to enjoy coffee and read. Maybe. Not in the same league as the store in Pittsford plaza. To be fair, it is a college book store, not an actual Barnes& Noble’s.

This is a school associated Barnes and Noble with a few extras. The«normal» section is smaller than your average two story Barnes and Noble, as half the downstairs section is devoted to UofR gear and snacks, and the second floor is devoted to textbooks and medical supplies(for med students). It’s nice to have somewhere so close, but they may not have the full selection if you are looking for something specific. Big section of current and new books, and a pretty decent children’s area if your kid likes to spend time in a bookstore!
