I had to save my 200th review for a special place, and 140 takes the cake. 140 Alex is always a good time, for all people. Here is the specials lowdown: Happy Hour goes until 8pm, everyday with rotating specials. They have 50 cent wings and trivia on Mondays. The wing specials are 4 – 9, and the trivia starts at 7:30. They do PaintNite classes on Tuesdays, and then at 9 they start Karaōke. The weekends are when the good drag shows are, upstairs at 11:30&12:45. Downstairs there is karaōke, and dancing to wait and get your drink on. 140 also has some dart boards, pool, and skee ball. The service at the bar was very prompt, and when the bartender couldn’t make my original cocktail order, he was wonderful with matching my tastes to create something that I would enjoy. They did the best they could to give guests glasses until it got very crowded, and then they switched to plastic. The bar placed lots of snacks all around complimentary to the guests, and the pours are generous. I prefer this place to the Bachelor’s Forum. Pro tip: If you are going to sing karaōke, bring your glasses to see the song titles because the print is really small in the binders :)

I’ve only been to 140 Alex once but had plans to go every weekend because of the pool tables(something Tilt doesn’t have) my wife and I enjoyed the drinks and the pool but the bathrooms(male anyway) are disgusting, and it’s a complete dive. I felt the club as not being a safe place for transgender individuals, I would not feel comfortable returning and will not be back.. .. . You’ve been warned.

The bartenders were exceptional and the music was great. Last night was our first experience here and it was very nice. Out in the court yard, the neighbor of the bar … I think he was protesting against the clubs existence by playing very loud classical music but many of us enjoyed it, very much, while sitting around the fire pit. The only reason I did not give this establishment five stars was not the fault of the establishment at all, but rather, the clientele. If you’re thinking about spending an evening here, bring your own group of friends because you won’t make many here. We met four nice and sociable ladies, all of whom were straight. The female impersonators were too into themselves and their praising entourages to give anyone the time of day. In one instance, a drag queen(some NYS contest winner) was given praise in regard to her enormous crown, from a charming young woman to whom we were talking, and she received a rather cold, «Thank you,» before the impersonator quickly turned away from her BUT … when she was in need of a cigarette and the same woman gave her one, she was slightly more cordial … for less than a minute. Many other attempts were made at creating a party atmosphere for all but, as is the problem with the young gay community in this region, they were unreceptive, impersonal, unwelcoming and unsociable, unlike other parts of the country. It almost comes off as mass insecurity. Not much of a sense of pride or community, at all, only in themselves. But the bartenders were fast, efficient and friendly, the karaōke host was enjoyable to watch and the music, upstairs, provided a lot of danceable music. Everyone who works at 140 Alex is to be commended! Great job guys and gals!!!

Awesome customer service! I work in the industry and its worth the walk or drive! Friendly staff and the atmosphere is amazing! As a bartender at a gay bar in Texas I recommend this bar over all! Drag show room is small but it gets the show and crowd going! Thanks for the great time! Only flaw is its a little warmer upstairs.

I love this place! The drinks are cheap and the energy is amazing. The drag shows are on point and the drag kings and queens are so talented and funny. I think my favorite nights to go are Tuesday and Saturday for the karaōke nights. The karaōke Dj is HILARIOUS with his comments and the selection is all over the place so you are bound to find something you want to sing. Everyone is so chill that if you suck(as I do) you don’t feel uncomfortable getting on the stage. Bring your ID because they DO card and, although it’s an LGBT bar, Straight people are always welcomed and made to feel like they belong. I love this bar. My favorite hang out spot in Rochester, hands down!

I went to 140 Alex for the first time the other night to say farewell to a dear friend moving out of state. I was excited when I heard it was a LGBT bar. It’s a bit of a bummer they close the kitchen on the weekends — but it’s not that big of a deal. My one friend couldn’t come because they do NOT allow anybody under 21 in. The bar itself is really nice; I really like the atmosphere and the décor of the place. We went on a Saturday night, so there was a DJ playing SUPER loud music. There are a few TVs in the bar, which was convenient during Hockey playoff time. Was not a fan of how the shots are served… tiny plastic cups that look like Jello Shooters, at around $ 4.50 a shot, you’d think they’d be in a glass, or even a cup that resembles an actual shot glass. It was $ 4 for Labbatt Blue in a bottle, a little bit on the pricey side in my opinion; I don’t think I’ve ever paid over $ 3 for a Labbatt in a bottle. They have a wide selection of liquor and a decent amount of different beers. Bartenders are very personable, so was the door guy. Had a good time with friends and the employees were kind — no issues on that front. Overall, a little more expensive than I was hoping, but was still a fun night out and I enjoyed the bar and the people around me. Everyone was having a good time. I will probably return at some point. Really like that they have a parking lot across the street — I hate street parking!

Ok, I have moved around in my lifetime, and to find a LGBT bar that is friendly from the start is something rarely seen on my journeys. The bartender and cook were very hospitable, great at their jobs. We went for Happy Hour on Friday evening. The drinks were great, good variety of vodka’s and beers and my drink was well made, tasty. Now, as for the food… I would go back for the food! Can’t say I have said that about many LGBT bars either! We are vegetarian, they have a few selections, the Pesto Pizza… EXCELLENT. Just had a piece for breakfast! The cook actually came out and questioned what we wanted on it and offered us something different on it as well, bravo. We also had the Green Bean fries… with a hot sauce. They were perfect! Enough bite and crunch on every one of them, we ate them all!

Great atmosphere! Non bias, everyone’s welcome. Awesome drink specials, $ 2 well and $ 2 domestic beers! Awesome menu, amazing food :0) They event host Paint Nite Events every Tuesday(a must try!). Outstanding servers(we love TJ best :)). Tons of entertainment like Drag shows, trivia, karaōke, and cool special events.

Friendly, gay, straight, or in between bar. Love the atmosphere. Darts, pool, skee ball, trivia night, what more can you ask for? Easy parking in lot across the street.

Went here with the bf, his mother, and her fiancé early Friday evening. We were there fairly early, but I loved the atmosphere — it felt like a neighborhood bar. The bartender was very attentive and friendly. He made sure to ask everybody if they wanted another drink before happy hour ended. The place was clean and there was free pizza. Drinks were good. Not a very impressive draft list, but my whiskey sours were tasty and properly prepared. I can definitely see myself coming back here next time I’m in Rochester… seems like a cool place to hang out!

IDK if it was because I was drunk, but those wings were awesome!

The bartenders are attentive and sweet, and they make a pretty good drinks at reasonable prices. I love that there’s still a place in the world for biker lesbians with mullets to come play pool while the young gay boys shoot darts and lip sync to the juke box. It really can be a lot of fun. My only real qualm is that they are misleading with their website and groupon. I saw there was a $ 20 for $ 10 groupon where you had to buy at least one food item. Knowing that I looked on their website to see what foods they offer. the website said that the bars upstairs restaurant is open from 5−10pm, so I bought the groupon. When we got there at 7:30pm and went upstairs, guess what – no restaurant. They actually don’t have the restaurant there anymore, and instead just have the bar menu. I’m not upset, it was just $ 10… and I really want to love them, but the food was –so– bad. when they asked how I wanted my burger cooked, I said«medium» but I should have just said«ya know, to legal standards» because the only part of that burger that wasn’t bright pink was the part that actually touched the griddle. My wife ordered the mushroom eggplant burger, and the piece of provolone cheese on it was about as melted as it would have been if it was a cold turkey sandwich – not exaggerating at all. I dunno, I want to like this place, so next time I’ll skip dinner and go for the atmosphere and the drinks. You’re still in my heart, 140 Alex!
