This review is overdue as we dined here a week ago. Our sever was new but she was very prompt and informed. Hubby ordered Louisiana pasta Alfredo and I had the carnival. My meal was delicious and I enjoyed the variety on my plate. Being able to sample lots of different things was really cool. The dish is VERY carb heavy so be aware of that. The French bread was perfectly toasted to compliment the meal. Hubby’s pasta was delicious with just a little bit of a kick to it.

We love this place! We started off with the Oysters Rockefeller. It was to die for. I had the blackened Chicken Pasta, the sauce was so unbelievable and he had the All in Gumbo, let’s just say he licked the bowl clean. They’ve got excellent food and great prices!!! Servers are always on top of it!

Great food, great service, ok patio, my only complaint, is a rude owner. Wish she wasn’t making money off me. I still like the place and will continue to go.

We have had Shuck and Jive two nights in a row. We did take-out first then went in to sit and eat. Excellent service, outstanding food. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

My work folks and I used to have Happy Hour at Shuck and Jive in Richardson every Thursday for about 3 – 4 years now. Great service, good prices and cold beer. We made sure our servers were tipped very well. Until… about 3 months ago, service went South, beer was hot and they started price gouging on Happy Hour. Not sure what happened, but shame on this place. We will not be back because when we complained about it, the so called«Manager» was rude and rolling her eyes with the you can take or leave it attitude. Not good when the customer is spending lots of money there every week. Just sayin…

Great HH prices. The crowd here is a hit or miss. There are days that it’s really quiet and there are some that it’s very loud and crowded. This is our Cajun place fix. It’s very close to where we live and and kitchen is always open late.

Another visit to Shuck N Jive becaues it was close by. We decided to do take-out instead. We both ordered the Catfish and Shrimp Dinner for about $ 30.00 total. Let’s just say, NEVERAGAIN and we will only stick with the crablegs and maybe the oysters. Catfish– One(1) big fillet –we would’ve let this slide but the breading slid(no pun intended) right off as I was breaking a piece off plus the fish was kind of tough. Epic Fail. I am from the South, home of the catfish(Mississippi) and this was TERRIBLE. I had a catfish-fillet-shaped piece of breading on one side and a rubberry fish fillet on the other side of my plate. The breading wasn’t even good… didn’t even look like cornmeal to me… Hushpuppy– that’s right, hushpuppy singular. One whole, normal-size hushpuppy and it was mediocre. Shrimp– Okay, the 6 shrimp were good. not bad but not OMG delicious but good. They had a good crunch and was seasoned well. Fries– I didn’t think french fries could be ruined but it tasted really weird — not like potatoes but like something old. Slaw– They refer to this as «Cajun Slaw» –nothing was cajun about it and it was bleh. The serving size was small, the slaw dressing was not seasoned very well and it did not taste like«cajun». Okay, now the Red Beans and Rice were pretty good and I’ll give them that. And that was it. We substituted one RB&Rice for the slaw. All of the above for about $ 15.00 per plate… NOTWORTHIT!

First off, it’s a bar, so any review should keep that in mind. This place can get loud and service can be slow when it’s packed. We were there 2⁄21 at around 7pm. They have cards on Saturdays and Monday’s so be prepared for that. Its seat yourself so we chose a booth. Waitress was at our table within a minute to take our drink orders. Little disappointed when I asked the waitress what craft beer selections they had and she answered with…“what?” Needles to say they have Shiner and nothing else worth drinking. Ordered a half plate of Oysters for an appetizer… see the photo. They were plump, tender and smelled great. They were gone in a flash… Ordered the Crescent Oysters for dinner… see the photo. Man, those were delish! Oysters smothered in crab, shrimp and Parmesan cheese. Very good. Oysters again were plump and tender. Our table also ordered fried shrimp and oysters and fried shrimp and crab cakes… apparently booth orders were delicious because conversation stopped and eating began. Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Came here for dinner. Ordered the pasta, all in one gumbo, fried catfish… Pasta was pretty good. Gumbo was ok. Fried catfish was under cook(you don’t get a whole lot, only 1 fillet whereas places like Fish Shack gives you like 3 for the same price). Giving this place 2 stars because the waitress was super nice… Other then that, not sure how the hell you can call yourself a bartender when you served flat Shiner Bocks!!!

Four stars for the food, two stars for the speed of service. The food is tasty, my last visit for lunch the crab cake meal was priced right and delicious. The lunch rush seemed to be understaffed.

When is a Louisiana Pasta Alfrado not a Louisiana Pasta Alfrado? When you call in and make a to-go order for someone else to pick up for you, then it turns into a Lemon Butter Shrimp Pasta instead. It’s pretty bad when you read the order out and the person taking that order reads it back correctly then you still end up with the wrong item. Not only that, but they up-charge 50c on togo items. So, by taking an item home so you don’t mess up their plates, their silverwear, use their napkins, and their condiments, they tack on a fee to shove it in a plastic box. Generally I’m happy with my visits to Shuck n Jive, but now it is costing gas to return the wrong item, plus delaying dinner by 20 – 30 minutes and another meal is having to be kept warm. I probably should have had them refire the whole ticket. No excuse for mixing up an order this badly. Come on Shuck ‘n Jive, you can do better than this, I know you can.

We used to frequent this place every Wednesday for fresh oysters and $ 1 domestic pints. The food is good — not amazing by any means. Their blackened chicken pasta is really good, but we really go there for the oysters! Unfortunately, they recently changed their menu to 1 oyster costs $ 1.89, which is ridiculous considering the size. Probably wont be going there as often in the future.

I was here for a casual biz dinner tonight. Just beer and a little cajun mix. I just had a couple of blue moons and a blackend shrimp poboy. It was better than average. Much Much Much better than the shuck and Jive in Addison(i won’t return to the addison location). Yes this isnt a very well lit«nice» restaurant. but then again. Are you really going to a place called«Shuck N Jive» because you think its a nice restaurant? we wanted beer and seafood and were rewarded with that. You have to be in the mood to come here. There are other seafood places I like better.(Pappadeaux’s, Soul Fish Grill, Fish City) are all great options too. but this place is pretty good. I’d go again if in the mood.

Shuck N Jive @ 190 blows! Their customer service sucks, you are always having to hunt for your dam waitress. If you know there are going to people sitting on the patio then wouldn’t it make sense to have more employees stationed outside? My hubby ordered a burger @ 8pm and by 9pm, nothing came. The waitress was like oh, lemme check on your order. Well guess what? She forgot to put in the order! Well hello, if she wrote down our order I bet it wouldn’t have been such a problem. Once the order was really put in, the burger arrived @ 10pm. How long does it take to cook a burger? What did they do? Go kill a fresh cow for it!!! I ordered crawfish and they were by far the nastiest crap I have ever eaten. Don’t get me wrong, I am a crawfish lover. These mudbugs really tasted mudbugs. Its like they took from the dirt, never rinsed them and just threw em in pot to boil. Here you go, here are your nasty crawfish served. What a waste of my money there! I ordered raw oysters and they were the only things half decent to eat. I wouldn’t ever come back here again. I rather eat dirt!!!

Disclaimer: I came here on the annual Crawfest night with a bunch of friends, so I’m not sure if my experience will truly depict an everyday visit at Shuck N Jive. I ordered the all-you-can-eat boiled crawfish and a dozen oysters. The crawfish was okay, a little mushy/overcooked with little flavor. The cajun seasoning they sprinkle on saved it. Boiling Crab in Garland still has the best crawfish, hands down. I’ve only had oysters one time before this, but I was craving some after watching Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations on TV. The oysters here are HUGE, super fresh, and so incredibly tasty. I would definitely come back here for oysters. I’m still thinking about them, the next day :( The staff needed serious help during my visit. I heard they were simply unprepared for the large crowds that came for Crawfest 2012, but the service that night was just not good. We only saw the waitress when she went to the table next to us, and she never asked if we needed anything else(which we were there for a Bday party, so we really wanted some drinks throughout the night). We ended up not even ordering some because we were so frustrated. There was a liquor tent next to us, and there were 5 waitresses chatting underneath, not caring about anything else. One was flirting with 2 guys for about an hour — zzzzz. I don’t even know where the bus boys were. When you serve all-you-can-eat crawfish, prepare for a good amount of trash and plates to take away. This happened once in a blue moon! The only thing saving this review from 2 stars is the oysters.

I’ve tried to really really like this place because I miss the one in Dallas off Rosemeade/George Bush, but our last trip here was a really bad experience. We ordered the blackened catfish, and it was the most overseasoned, salty item anyone at our table had ever had. I just can’t even get over it. Live music was WAY too loud that night, and the table of 4 we had couldn’t even make out a word of what the other person was saying. I really liked this place in the past, but I can’t seem to get my husband to return.
