3−½ stars: After reading the mixed reviews here, i was a bit hesitant to try this place. I think it might be about your expectations going in. A step-up in quality and selection from the supermarket; but not a bustling bakery with a charming atmosphere, or a fancy patisserie with delicate pastries and subtle flavors either. It feels kind of like an outlet for one of those old-school bakeries with big portions, heavy on the sweet. It’s self serve, and there is a bell to ring when you’re ready to check out. They have some day-old stuff for purchase, and some single-serving milk containers to go with the moderate selection of donuts and pastries. Cinnamon roll was a little light on the cinnamon and heavy on the bread for my taste, but was moist enough with pleasant raisins and almond slivers. The real star for me was the flat cinnamon pastry(i forget how it was labeled, but basically a huge, round, cinnamon palmier?) It managed to be crispy, chewy, and flaky all at the same time. Will come back again to give some other things a shot.

Good bakery with crazy good deals. Those of you who say it tastes nothing like the one in Pike Place are pretty dumb because they bake everything here and send it to Pike.

Had only been one time before(about a year ago) it was not what I remembered — maybe they have changed owners. It’s all self serve, like a Mexican bakery. Went for donuts but there wasn’t a large variety — got 1 sugar donut and it seemed to have gotten dropped in the bag of C&H pure cane sugar… but hey, it was $ 1. I got the kids cookies(oh yeah, I got 2 for me) — they were only .75 and were big. However, they were awful. After the 1st bite, my 7 yr old said, «Ewwww, it’s stale» I didn’t even think she knew that word or what it meant… The almond divinity tasted like someone had dumped an entire bottle of fake almond extract in a bowl of shortening. I My cookies are better — and they are nothing special.

Having moved to east King County a few months ago I am noting the SEVERE lack of a decent bakery. I noticed this place and stopped in hoping to get a decent treat for my partner who has a sweet spot for baked goods. *ugh* First of all, I didn’t quite understand what the heck was going on when I walked in. All the product cases are self-serve, but there are NO boxes for you to put your things in. There were two stacks of dirty aluminum platters with a couple pairs of tongs sitting on top of the cases. Really? I decided on a couple of maple bars and cinnamon rolls despite the ridiculous price. And honestly, they were AWFUL. So heavy and bready. These were definitely yeasty(as opposed to cake) in a BAD way. We would have been so better off with a generic maple bar from Safeway. Honestly, these were really, really bad. And was there any BREAD in this bakery? I would have loved to pick up a decent baguette or loaf of caraway rye but I have no idea if this bakery even HAS bread. The whole thing was just very off-putting. Giving one extra star because the woman working there was really nice and there is easy parking.

As usual i bought the cake and soup. In addition, their coffee is really good as well. Parking might be a bit hard to find. but overall experience is pretty good, sure will stop by again. I hope they don’t close so early.

My mom and I got a smörgåsbord of items here, and I was happy with all of them. The frosting on the cinnamon rolls was great. Most of the cookies did seem to have the same base, but it was delicious. The oatmeal raisin cookie and divinity were both good, and the brownie was chocolatey and fudgy. The real stars were the«apple jack» and buttermilk doughnut. The apple jack was a perfect blend of chewy, flaky, sugary apple and cinnamon. Buttermilk doughnuts are my favorite, so I’ve tried a lot of them, and this was easily one of the best. The top and bottom were crispy, the glaze was perfect, and the texture inside had just the right amount of moist denseness. The attendant who greeted us was very friendly. I definitely recommend this bakery, especially for the doughnuts and pastries.

This is the RUDEST bakery I have ever been too… The desserts looked and smelled good, but the owner was beyond rude! I won’t be back!

For a while now I’ve been bemoaning the fact that there aren’t any good bakeries in the area so when I saw(on Unilocal,of course) that a Pike Place Bakery had opened up down town I was ecstatic! I found it on Friday night and we were there on their doorstep Sat morning because there was no time to waste for a good cookie. So far so good, right? It’s with a heavy heart that I share with you that my disappointment and frustration in the Renton Pike Place Bakery is as dry and unfriendly as their pastries. So not what I expected. The cookies all tasted a like from chocolate dipped chocolate chip to the sugar to to the rainbow sprinkled shortcake to the whatever the hell else I bought… the only defining taste between the lot of them was the chalky taste of dryness even WHOLE milk could not assuage… and frankly, I don’t even want to get into the Raspberry Coffee Cake that I swear to you tasted like it came from a vending machine. No cookie should ever be that bad and have the nerve to call itself a cookie!

Bakery or Drywall Manufacturer? We bought a raspberry coffee cake here along with some cookies and divinities for a dinner party. It all looked real good in the display case, but when we served it for dessert it was just awful. We felt humiliated for having bought this crap. The cake was drier than a matzah fart, there was nothing divine about the divinities which weren’t that flavorful, and the cookies were downright pedestrian. The name«Pike Place» connotes images of products that are«fresh», «high quality», and«delicious». In this case we got stuck with«stale», «low quality», and«flavorless». We would’ve been better off buying some generic cake at Safeway on $ 5 Friday. Don’t be fooled by the pretty pictures on their profile or their website. Go here only if you’re eager to waste your money on inferior pastries that a starving homeless person rummaging through a dumpster wouldn’t bother eating. Pike Place Bakery gets a 1-star only because Unilocal doesn’t offer a zero-star rating.

Every time I’ve been to the«Market» in Seattle, I often pickup a roll or pastry from one of the bakeries in the area. Pike Place Bakery is one of them. But I live in Renton(naysayers say«ugh»). And now! They’re in my backyard! From the massive donuts(which are on special right now!) to the jalapeño loafs, this place is great especially now that it is local. The first time I stopped by to pickup my dozen donuts(for coworkers, of course), the nice lady offered me a jalapeño roll for free! How’d she know that was one of my favorites? Now that it’s in my neighborhood, I’ll be stopping by. So check it out! :)

We were very excited to try out this new bakery in our new ‘hood, and I’m happy to say that it did not disappoint! The donut that I tried was very fresh, big and cakey and not overly sweet. My kids loved their sugar cookies with multi-colored sprinkles that the clever bakery lady gave them. Clever, clever bakery lady. Also– we were told that espresso is to come! All right!!!
