Tangerine Salon Spa

Just moved to Reno from the Bay Area in California and was so glad I found Tangerine! They were everything I was looking for in an Aveda salon and then some. Not only was I greeted by a friendly reception I was also offered the beverage of my choice: coffee and tea or beer and wine depending on the time (I got the feeling they wouldn’t judge a 10:00 am white wine though). Selection of complimentary salty snacks as well.
My stylist Brianna was awesome, a fellow California transplant! I was treated to an aromatherapy and scalp/​shoulder massage. This is pretty standard for Aveda but always appreciated but in addition I got a bonus hand/​arm massage during shampoo. I bought a purse size version of the Hand Therapy cream she used (Reno is soooo dry) as well as my beloved Smooth Infusion products (medium length, thick, straight hair; wanting to be smooth and glossy.) I had a good bikini wax from Crystal for my trip to Santa Cruz (just in case) and it was friendly and… thorough. What more can you ask from a bikini wax? :)
I really appreciated the thoughtful product recommendations from the lovely gentleman in the front of house who’s name I didn’t catch but introduced me to an upcoming men’s line. ;-) I’ll get you next time as I already booked my next appt. as well as my boyfriends. They support the Keep Tahoe Blue campaign too which is a nice touch!

First time at this business today. What a great experience. Everyone was so friendly and professional. The facility is very nice. My new friend Crystal was awesome.
As a man I sometimes feel a bit awkward in these settings but they made me feel right at home.

Nicki Deville, She does facial and waxing. She is amazing, she goes above and beyond for her clients and she is very professional.

Called the day of to see if I could possibly get in. The girl that answered the phone was very pleasant, she offered me 2 different appointment times. This was my first time visiting this salon, so I picked the time that was best, and told her I did not care who I saw.
She scheduled me with Amanda. When I arrived, I was greeted by more than one person, all seemed willing to help. I was checked in, handed a short form to fill out, and offered water, tea, beer, or wine as a compliment to having a service done. After a long day of work, I opted for a glass of wine. It was chilled and handed to me in a stemless glass.
They have a very Cozy waiting area, to which you can fill out your paperwork. Once I was done the front desk retrieved my paperwork, and I got to meet Amanda. She was very friendly and running perfectly on time.
She brought me back to her area, hung my coat, and spent 5+ minutes getting to know me and what I wanted her to do. I explained, showed her pictures and she was ready. She made me feel very confident and comfortable. We talked like we were old friends.
She took me back to wash my hair. There was another staff member waiting for Us while she was wasting my hair that gives you a complimentary hand/​arm massage with essential oils and aveda lotions. I was in heaven! While I was getting this massage she was washing my hair and giving me a scalp massage. Well worth it right here! The customer service is amazing!
She took about 30 – 40 minutes to cut my hair. When all finished, it looked and felt awesome! I highly recommend this salon and this stylist! So worth the money for the cut!

Today was my first day at this spot, and I loved it! I had my hair cut by Kris, and he was very attentive, listened to what I wanted, and did a fab job! I just love this shorter do! I shall definitely return to him for further hair appointments. Plus he was quite pleasant to chat with. I also had a wax by Crystal, and she was just amazing. Friendly, efficient, and quite meticulous. Really enjoyed my time there and the staff was on point with their service.

I had gone here on several different occasions, asking for the same thing and the woman who’s name if rather not say, gave me tiger stripes when all I wanted was an ombré and ash colored tones, she had four sessions to give me what I wanted and all I received was some highlights, and brown toner. I really wish it would’ve worked out here, but for me I can’t keep sinking money into a business that doesn’t have employees that don’t know what they’re doing.

Of all my 30 years of life, I’ve never had a hair stylist with such skill and vision… That is, until now. Initially, I requested a master stylist but they were all booked. I asked the receptionist if she had any suggestions and indeed she did. The stylist she suggested was Marni and boy am I happy. I haven’t had a haircut for a year and a half due to the arrival of my baby and with my brother’s wedding approaching I felt like I needed to tame my crazy mommy hair down. Marni brought my hair back from the dead and made me feel ten years younger. She’s intricate with her scissors and makes sure everything is even and she’s also great with texture. I have a little wave to my hair and she really knew how to work with it. I especially enjoyed her personality-​fresh and sweet. I’m so glad that I live right next to the salon. Money worth spent. What an AMAZING experience!!!
So I needed a hair cut, I rarely ever get hair cuts. But I felt that I should get one before my baby shower the next day. My friend works here and recommended the hair stylist Elke, pronounce elk-​Ee not Elk! Get that right now! :-)
She is so friendly and personable I felt like she was my friend that I’ve known for ever.
Well anyway, got asked if I wanted a refreshment. Got iced water on a super nice sunny day. I came a tad early but that’s ok I needed to fill out some info.
Anyway, then Elke asked what I wanted and I told her I am easy. Do your thang… Make me look good… And do the cut that makes my face look nice. She had no problems at all. No questions of, uhhhhh like what kind of hair cut nothing. She just knew exactly what I was saying and she did her magic.
Oh my goodness let me tell you how amazing the massage is when they shampoo your hair. She massaged my head into a coma it felt that good. I would go in just to get my hair shampooed just for the head massage and yes I said AND the hand and arm massage!!! Whaaat! They massage your hands and arms after they put this hot towel on your head. I was melting in my seat. Boy do they make their clients feel like goddesses.
She is my hair stylist now for life!!!
And when everything was done I looked in the mirror and saw my hair and was blown awayyyy. All you Asians out there. She knows how to cut our thick ass hair. And make it look like a million bucks! Absolutely love my hair. Thanks to my friend Amber so glad she recommended for me to go to her!

I’ve been going to Anna for about 4 years and she is very talented and professional. I have never left with a bad cut! She keeps a great schedule ensuring that she is able to greet me promptly for my appointment. I am usually one of her last appointments in the evening and she is always able to maintain an energetic demeanor. After moving out of the area, I decided to go out on a whim and try a new salon… what a mistake! I will always return to Anna when I am in Reno!

I had my haircut yesterday with Tiffany and she was super sweet and full of energy. I was about 20 min late to the appt and the staff was so accommodating. Tiffany was very understanding and did not cut corners on my haircut and my moms color. Save all the rewards that the salon gives you. We were able to save some cash with them. Oh and the hand massage was to DIE for. The lady was super sweet and I can’t wait to go back too see Tiffany again.

Called and made an appointment on Friday for 11 am Monday. I live an hour away and have two small children. I got a babysitter and planned my day around this appointment. I arrive at 10:50 to be told they accidentally deleted my appointment and ‘sorry’. The girl asked to see my phone to see when I called as if I was lying when I showed her, she says ‘oh that’s weird’ That’s it. Nothing offered except to come back another day. I was made to feel like I was in the wrong.
Don’t know what the rest of the salon is like because the lack of organization and customer service prevented me from going any further.

For the last year, I have been going to another salon in a different location and getting a rinse-​in color. Why? Cause that is what my old hair gal told me to do!
I walked in with 2 inch roots and with a very very brassy color (ladies you know what I am talking about) And I just had my hair done 10 days ago. (from my old place)
I made an appointment with Lindie and I am super happy.
She recommended adding some low-​lights and took care of my brassy color. And it was only about $ 15.00 more than I was paying for my old crappy color. And the products smell so wonderful. That and they give you a scalp and hand massage. Nice.
The salon is beautiful. Located in the Summit Mall, ton of parking. I can’t say enough about it. Looking forward to getting my hair cut there soon.

My hair was fried and lifeless! It was getting longer, but it was ugly on the ends. I went to see Jen Rushton at Tangerine as she was AMAZING! She listened to me and understood what I wanted. She did a phenomenal job and my hair looks healthy again! I can’t wait to go back and see how my hair progresses under her care!

I have been going to Aveda Tangerine for a few years now and i was sad to see that Tasher has moved on. He was the best! I especially liked his talent on my highlight and coloring. He saved me once when i butchered a halloween dye job. The prices were a little high but the service was excellent. I always walked out feeling like a million bucks.

I’m not a review writer, usually, but I feel like I have to tell the world about Renee. Even though part of me wants to just keep her for myself. She is the Master Stylist here and has given me the best two haircuts if my life! I have very difficult wavy hair and have had so many bad haircuts I can’t even keep count; I mean ones I leave the salon crying because of. She is on the pricey side but so beyond worth it. I cannot recommend Renee enough. Do yourself a favor and go see her.

I can’t say enough about Elke at Aveda. Pregnancy took it toll on my hair and I needed serious help. Elke made me so comfortable and she’s a color genius. I’d highly recommend her to anyone… if you’re in need of a hair overhaul like I was, she’s your girl. She has a beautiful personality and is extremely talented.

This place it GREAT! How sad. I’m the «Duke», the most visited person to this place yet Unilocal hides my review. I wrote a review 10 months ago, but Unilocal chooses to hide it as if I’m not a real customer. I have been coming to Tangerine Aveda since it opened 7 years ago. I will only come here. Could not speak more highly of the lady (can’t name names because Unilocal says that’s bad) who does my hair but she is amazing. If you want an experience, this is the place to get it. They are wonderful.

This place is awesome. You can drink wine while getting your hair cut and the hair stylists are all very professional and nice.

Love, love, love this place. Excellent customer service, friendly staff, and quality work. Scalp massage, hand massage, and great styling. Jen is absolutely amazing!
