Newish library situated in a planned community, only 8 min from home. Friendly and helpful staff, though I could have done without the disparaging remarks about all those homeless people in the Downtown Reno library. Presumably they are not allowed in this whitewashed development. Little boxes on the hilltop, little boxes made of tickey-tack, and they’re all just the same. ..

Compared to most of the other libraries in Reno, this is a newer, more updated one. It’s located near a high school so I can imagine there might be traffic around certain times. Staff was very welcoming and chairs were comfy. Not much else to be said about this place, I just came here to study(noise level was very low).

The Northwest library is one of the newer libraries in the Washoe County library system, and it shows in the architecture and the layout of the library. It’s a comfortable library with a nice-sized collection of books, and a helpful staff that can help you locate a special book that you’re looking for. I don’t know why, but this library specializes in a large, well-organize holocaust collection. They have a huge collection of books on the topic, and anyone interesting in researcing this horrific event will find what they need here. They also have a large children’s collection, and offer storytimes and many other children’s events here, to keep the kids amused and informed while the adults can spend some time in the stacks. This isn’t the oldest library in the system, but it seems to fit into the neighborhood weel. It’s near MxQueen High School, so it’s easy for the school kids to do research if they need to, but it fits the bill for adults, too. All in all, Northwest library is a well rounded library for the Northwest Reno community.
