I have an old BMW z3 96 perfect condition — smog check on older cars seem to be more expansive than newer cars. That I don’t understand why. All cars run on the same machine anyway and it just turing the nob for more intense checking.
However I found these guys. Middlefield Smog Check, Redwood City, CA. Everything in is $ 60, including the certificate and tax. Compared to a lot of shops they are FAST and GOOD… no line, and they are done in 20 mins. Awesome job.

Bait and switch. Fail for no reason and still charge full amount. This place is a scam. Avoid!

This is the place to go to for your quickest somg test. It took a hole 12min. I highly recommend it.

I didn’t need an appointment, just walked in. I was second in line and got the smog done in less then hour. reasonable price, friendly quick service.

I came in for my smog check. The place was busy but thw gentlemen were professional and made sure to answer all of my questions. The price was $ 45 with the Unilocal coupon but remember to ask before the smog check begins. The reason why I didn’t give it a 5 is because there’s no parking so you need to wait for them to park your car.

Sir Carlos helped me last Wednesday and he is very good. I asked him about how to maintain my 1996 RAV 4 and he told me stuff so i can pass future smog test. I would recommend this SMOG CHECKING STATION. In just 10 – 15 minutes you got your smog check. Quick, Approachable and Efficient! I would go back here on my next smog!

Had to get my car smog checked before registering it at the dmv. The guys were super helpful, friendly, and quick. No wait time. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. They even gave me tips on how to quicken my wait at the DMV.

The new smog system takes 15 minutes! Fast service and Jose gave great suggestions for other auto issues I was having.

I called ahead and was quoted $ 50 out the door for my 2006 Volkswagen Jetta and told no appointment was necessary. 20 minutes later I showed up for my smog check. I waited about 5 – 10 minutes for the shop to finish with the car in front of me and then rolled into the garage. 10 minutes later I was out the door with a passing certificate! This was as painless as you can get.
P. S. Free wifi, but you’re barely there long enough to use it

The service was great and Carlos was really nice. The Unilocal coupon was a nice touch for checking in, too. However, parking is really tight and awkward there — so you might want to try one of the other places right on Middelfield where that’s less of an issue.
(By the way, this is right across the street from Conneissuer’s Coffee Roastery, if you’re trying to spot it, with the entrance to the garage on Pacific.)

Yeah I’m pretty impressed with this place. I was not sure I believed all the reviews at first because, seriously how is it possible for a place to get so many 5 star reviews so frequently, right? Well apparently it’s very possible! The people that work here are SO friendly and professional, and they took great care of my car. And I got a discount from checking in on Unilocal!How sweet is that?
Plenty of waiting room space with magazines while you wait, which won’t be long. 20 minutes tops maybe?
They location is a bit off putting as there is only street parking and their neighbor is a bit… well let’s just say he’s probably tired of people always parking in front of his drive way, haha. But you’ll be in and out before you know it! Highly recommend this smog inspection shop!

This place is perfect and is now my 100% «GO TO» smog solution. He answers his phone (most local smoggers don’t), is fast, is nice, is efficient, is low cost, and simply gets it done. First smog place that I wanted to tip at. And he didn’t make fun of my old car.
If you want a fancy place with coffee, donuts, and amenities, this is likely not your place.
If you want a place to get you in and out with no fuss, then this *is* your place.
As to places to wait, there are plenty of shops next door and across the street, or Costco just across the tracks.
Expect nearly no parking, so make an appointment.

From beginning to end this shop was such a pleasure to deal with. They answered my questions over the phone and let me know there was one car in the shop and another waiting, so it might be best for me to come just a little later so I wouldn’t have to wait as long. My car didn’t pass the smog check due to a sensor problem, but they were very courteous. They carefully stapled all my pertinent paperwork together, I paid part of the fee and would then pay the remainder of the smog check/​certificate fee when I returned after the repairs were completed (they give you the codes, so it helps your mechanic know what he must fix for you to pass the smog check).
Middlefield Smog made getting this mandatory action item off my list in a pleasant, efficient and overall very satisfactory way!

When I got my DMV registration in the mail and saw I had to get a smog check for my car, I had flashbacks. My mind reverted back to the years I had my first car – a 1986 Toyota Cressida, that had no radio, wouldn’t reverse, and never passed smog.
I’ve come a long way since that dreaded hoopty (may she R.I.P.), but I was still scurred about my 2009 vehicle not passing smog (even though it hasn’t caused me any issues).
At any rate, I showed up to an empty garage, was immediate acknowledged, pulled my car in, the smog check took 12 minutes, showed my Unilocal coupon, and BAM! Just like that… smog check passed and finished.

I was in, I was out, all under 10 minutes. Quick, easy and painless. Eziekiel was a gem! He was very polite with an incredibly sweet personality! Hopefully, I’m not taking away his masculinity by stating such a thing, but any other way to describe him, wouldn’t be precise. I had a few good chuckles, and a painless smog test within minutes. I also got a discount via the Unilocal check-​in!
This place is right in the heart of what I like to call Little Tijauna, Redwood City. All I can remember of Tijuana, was ahhggemmm… from around ten years ago (geez I’m getting old), where everything (and anything you can think of) was dirt cheap, there were taquierias around every corner, and even some places where you may be better off speaking Spanish than English in order to get exactly what you want. Nothing else that one would associate with rumors of the border, would be happening here. It’s safe, and filled with, from my experience, some great tiendas, taquierias & SMOG checks everywhere. Don’t get distracted though… This SMOG spot is where it’s at. :)
