This place litters Hermosa Avenue with cheaply printed pieces of paper that halfway describe the location and karaōke times. I’m getting annoyed at these constantly being on my car.

This place is very relaxed, good crowd for karaōke and happy go lucky people. Even on a Sunday there were about 20 people. I do wish the bartender wasn’t slow. And one bartender and no bar back will not give. you fast service with 20+ people And the beers were cheaper.

Great place for some good live music. The bartenders are GREAT! I like the atmosphere here and it’s right on the water, great views. Gets a little hot in there, but it’s still fun.

This place made me feel like the bar rescue tv show guy was gonna pop out anytime and save us from this nice place being run so poorly. Atmosphere would be cool, except one thing. They play the radio over the house speakers. 98.7fm at high volume. With all the commercials blaring in your ears. Drinks are pretty cheap, light pours, no food, but they allow you to bring in food from other places. Would be a great place if they play some tolerable music, or just turned it down. Waited for the band to start. Cheesy band.

They’re getting four stars because Family Tree was playing live Dead covers on a Friday night and you can see the waves from the windows

I would give the place 3 stars, but the 1STARISFORTHEOWNER. I am new to the area and began going to the jam sessions on Wednesdays, Great venue for musicians to play. Levi, the bouncer, super cool guy. I had not experienced a Saturday at the Starboard Attitude before, so I decided to go check it out. The place is a bit older, older crowd, but very chill vibe. GREAT musicians. The unfortunate part is that THEOWNER, he likes to drink on the job,(I guess if he is the owner he can do that) he starts off doing good, greeting customers being kind, but by 8:30−9pm. He begins to become very aggressive because he is intoxicated. Once that happens, he is rude to many of the patrons and staff. Last weekend, I saw a guy walk in with his wife and they sat next to me. The wife went to the restroom and the guy sat there waiting for a waiter, soon the owner came over and started yelling at him saying that there is 2 drink minimum, the guy said… ok no problem, and then the owner seem to not understand that the Guy heard him. The owner then started yelling at him, saying things like… YOUNEEDTOORDER2DRINKS!!! as spit flew out of him mouth onto the guys face and shirt… kinda gross. The guy then asked the owner why is he yelling… The owner had a fit… pulling his hair, and stomping… similar to what a young kid would do… he then started yelling saying… I“M THEOWNER, I“M THEOWNER… then went to get LEVI(the bouncer) The poor guy waited for his wife to come out of the restroom and then they left… the owner was clearly DRUNK and Obnoxious… even after the couple left peacefully the owner continued yelling, looking at other patrons as if saying. YOUGUYSWANTTOLEAVETOO??? TERRIBLEACTIONSONBEHALFOFTHEOWNER… as an owner you don’t ever want to loose control of YOURSELF and yell and make a scene in your own establishment… I could see a lot of the customers shaking their heads in disapproval of the owner… I am sure he is a cool guy when he is not drinking… But obviously if alcohol is affecting his business, then he probably needs help… In case the owner reads this… Here is a place to get some help. Well lets just say a bar that is half empty on a Saturday night should not have a 2 drink minimum. When my group walked in we noticed an off smell but hey its a divey kind of bar no biggy some of us bought a drink. But then the bouncer comes over after we are settled in and tells us there is a 2 drink minimum. Ok well let those who foolishly gave this bar money finish thier drink. But no he came a 2nd time to remind us. Some of the girls now felt uncomfortable as we were being glared at by the staff. So we left and those who had drinks had to rush them down. TLDR; Bar smells like a porta-potty, rude staff, pretentious 2 drink minimum. Also a very«weathered» crowd.

I’ve been here a couple of times and enjoyed the live music and decent prices. The bartenders were always good. The reason for the 1 star is that me and a friend stopped in there after being at Old Tony’s for a while last night. The band was good so we grabbed a beer and started enjoying the show. Then a gentleman came over and told us we couldn’t dance with the glasses in our hands. Well we weren’t even dancing, we were standing next to a table and maybe bobbing our heads to the music a little. Didn’t think twice about it. A couple of minutes later he comes back over and tells us we have to leave. WTF?! He claimed to be the owner and proceeded to physically grab me and push me out the door even though I wasn’t arguing with him, just asking why pretty much. Extremely unprofessional and not the way I would treat a paying customer, especially when there are plenty of other options in the Redondo/Hermosa area. I will NOT be going back there anytime soon, if ever. Doubt the guy was really the owner, but if he was he’s an idiot.

There’s a lot to be said for enjoying drinks, good company, and live music in a setting that’s on top of the ocean. But no words other than those are necessary. I mean really… what’s not to like? Just be careful navigating your way down the steps when you leave, could be slippery… you know, the ocean mist and all… Also, if the restroom is busy Tony’s is just a few feet away… I must have a thing for… I’m not sure what’s up with that…

This place has good drinks and good music, especially if you can get there on a night when the Philip Clark Band is playing.

Small, loud, local and fun! Reasonable prices for the drinks. Oldest blues club in the South Bay. And last night they had a kick-ass band called Short Fuse. They play at Sundance for the Gibson guitar people, and have had guest singers like — oh – John Legend and Sting. Zach Schary, the lead guitarist in the tradition of Stevie Ray Vaughan, is one talented sumbitch. As are the rest of this great group — including singer Lisa Cee and harp player Johnny Mastro who are both awesome. Try to catch them if you can. But, if not, you’ll have a blast anyway.

I have never seen/been to a bar that has a beer pong table in it!!! I walked into the bar, with a few friends… low and behold – Beer Pong… early Sunday afternoon! haha. Oh, and first pitcher is free My 3⁄5 stars is mainly based on the beer pong table. If it wasn’t there I don’t see myself ever going there again. The bar is rather small, «smoking patio» consists of a 4ft square of surface area when the door is closed… weak. I mean sure you can walk up/down the stairs, but c’mon… c’mon how many smokers(cigs) do you know that absolutely love climbing stairs after smoking. haha. I guess, it’s kind of cool that they have karaōke. I might have given them a higher score if the place were more lively. Maybe it was all the 35 to 40+ crowd there. *shrug* Maybe, I’ll go again on a Friday or Saturday night.

This place rocks. Well, at least when I went. There was a band playing which didn’t dissapoint. Quite a few people, young and old and everyone was mingling. The bartender was my favorite part of this place(Hi Trinity). She’s the kind of bartender i wish was in every dive in LA. They’re not open very often though, never did figure out their hours.

An italian bistro? I’m not too sure about that. A friend and I peeked in briefly for a drink lastnight and the bartender(Trinity) said«no food» so we were forced to eat from the Chinese place below this bar, which wasn’t so bad. Anywho, slow local atmosphere. This place had a live band lastnight that wasn’t too bad. It’s worth checkin out for a drink or two or going with a crew.
