We went there tonight, 12÷4÷2015, and they are apparently out of business.

The more menu items I try, the more I like this place! I’ve already mentioned the superb Ethiopian cuisine in my previous review, so I’ll describe more of the yummy goodness that is good for you here at Grilla Bites! Since, Grilla Bites had a special happy hour half-off smoothies special over the past couple of weeks, I came here and bought a sampler of each kind to split and share with family members: 1.) Get Green — Spinach, kale, wheatgrass, banana, apple juice 2.) Ready Red — OJ, beet juice, strawberries, pineapple, banana 3.) Tropical Paradise — OJ, mango, pineapple, banana, coconut milk Obviously, they’re all distinctly different in flavor and I love the blend in each of them. There isn’t one that I wouldn’t recommend. Since I had a pretty good appetite, I also ordered their scrumptious Salmon Burger(6 oz. wild salmon filet, spinach, tomatoes, dill aioli) and, yes, it tastes just as great as this description sounds! Think I’ll be making Grilla Bites my regular lunch spot!

Grilla Bites was my first Ethiopian food experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back many times! The ingredients are solid, the food is delicious, and I’m excited to try out some of the juices, smoothies, and coffees in the future. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff.

Delicious, organic, fresh food with lots of color and positive vibes, very reasonable prices($ 10 sandwich with chips and homemade hummus). The space is also clean and cozy, doubling as a community space for artsy/music/performance events. While eating, my band and I watched a salsa performance and then a 20+ person salsa class(that was free!). Vibrant space, delicious well priced food, engaging kind owner and only a 5 min drive off the freeway. I HIGHLY! recommend eating here.

The service is more than outstanding. I got a chunky monkey, bananas, cocoa, peanut butter, bananas and almond milk… it wasn’t sweet enough for me and the woman working was more than happy to add honey and a little almond milk. My friend got the Ethiopian vegetarian platter with anjera bread. He is well versed in Ethiopian food and said it was some of the best he’s ever tasted. My chicken tibs was amazing! They accidentally gave me lamb at first and when I told them they fixed it immediately, gave the kids ice cream and added an extra side of anjera! The place itself was great, clean open and airy. The tables and sitting area was comfortable, there was even a huge mousetrap for the kids to spin and watch how the ball went through the whole restaurant! The tropical smoothie was really yummie too. The owner even came over to chat and say hi. Thank you all, it was a great experience!

Excellent food and drinks! I ate the Kay Yut which was tender, flavorful and spicy. Served with collard greens and a salad. Dad ate a half Chipotle chicken sandwich and a delicious bowl of soup… not sure which soup, but it had sweet potato! So good! He drank the Sunset Drive and I drank the Chunky Monkey. All around, a high quality experience! Great ingredients and well prepared!

I have been here four times. First time I got a lemonade and sat at a table to stay out of the sun and enjoy the free wifi– you need a password that they give you. The lemonade was sooooo delicious. It was fresh squeezed. It had enough lemon that my cheeks felt tingly but not so much that my face contorted. I think you know what I mean. They put simple syrup in there so it was smooth and sweet all the way. It had just enough sweetness to go with the lemon. Maybe it was because it was so hot but I definitely remember it being wonderful. One of the best lemonades of my life. Second time it’s 108 degrees out and I’m looking for the same heat quencher I found the first time. It was not. The lemonade was definitely fresh squeezed but it had waaaaaay too much lemon. It tasted like they put a whole half cup of lemon juice. To make matters worse I took it to go so there was no going back to add water. And this time they put granular sugar in it, which settled at the bottom. What was left was some pretty sour lemon juice with some added water and some granules of sugar that I could chew. I’ll give whoever made it the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t deduct them a star for this. Third time: I go get iced coffee. They ask me if I want cream and sugar added. I did want so they did add. The coffee was smooth. They decided how much sugar to add which for me was the perfect amount. I do not like too sweet. And they added enough cream to make the coffee a light Carmel color. Just how I like it. Fourth time: I am ready to try their food. I got a blt which comes with veganaise. It is a toasted sour dough bread with three slices of bacon and a leaf of lettuce(which I like) and tomato. The bacon is cooked till it’s very crispy. Overall it tastes fresh. But it does have a tangy taste. I am not sure if it’s the veganaise or if they added mustard — which I don’t love on blts next time I’ll try the veganaise on the side. It’s a very simple sandwich on the expensive side but I guess for fresh ingredients it is worth it? I can’t decide… The sandwich comes with a side. They recommended the potato salad. I really liked it. It does not taste sweet which I happen to dislike. It does have way too much celery because I’m finding more celery in there than potato. I’m glad I didn’t get the hummus though because it seems like it is really thick and not creamy(or maybe I should have got it for that reason.) The people there are nice. But you get to bus you own dishes. This kinda reflects in the price of the food. The price is not like fast food prices but it is not too expensive either — expect to pay about 12 for a sandwich and drink. Which is on the high side but for the quality of ingredients may be priced right… I can’t decide and this is mostly why I didn’t give them 5 stars. I’ll be back.

5 ‘s for food quality, authenticity & freshness 5 ‘s for cleanliness, décor & staging The salad bar is really nice, price is on par for what you get, and its really nice to have so many options. It can use some less exotic, normal dressings though for the avg person. We’ll have to try the juice bar, coffee, beer or wine next time… I was very excited to see all of that goodness. 》Here’s where the star fell: — We waited 25 mins for a pesto chicken sandwich, bison burger & two kids hot dogs. When they finally brought our food, the order was messed up for one of them and we waited another five minutes to get it corrected.(My son asked for mustard on his dog & they slathered ketchup all over it.) Also, the kids didn’t like the bun that came with their dogs at all… I personally thought my bread was delicious… maybe a sweeter option would be good for the kids? Perhaps agave could be added? — The prices are a little steep for the sandwiches & burgers. I understand the food is of better quality, but it still seemed high with consideration to the small portion. Thats it! Such a neat place, will definitely be coming back!

Food is more like 4 stars, but 5 stars for being the only real organic/healthy option on that long road trip on I-5. Had the Ethiopian veggie combo — I’m not the biggest fan of Ethiopian food, but the flavors were fresh and bright, and unlike other Ethiopian places with dim lighting, actually seeing the brightly-colored food helped. 12 oz organic juice was reasonably prices at $ 5.95 Iced coffee was very good. I will definitely be back on my trip along I-5, especially for that mostly organic salad bar.

Gave this place a try and it was ok, but I would probably not personally return unless it was for an order of Hummus. My smoothie tasted terrible(1 star), my sandwich was«meh»(2 stars) but the hummus was fantastic(5 stars) All of us had to grab a snack later but our vegan /raw friends really appreciated all the options available to them here.

Now that they reopened with new ownership, it took a dive downhill. Menu and quality of food is not the same. I ordered the grilled chicken and pesto sandwich. I only ate about ¼ of it. The chicken was so tough, I couldn’t even bite through it. Not worth the prices anymore, which is expensive :(

Great place for healthier options… Smoothies, authentic Ethiopian food, salads and good American options(especially for kids) as well. Every item we ordered was made with integrity. Everything we tried we were really happy with. Don’t forget to have the injera — it’s a fermented Ethiopian bread made with teff. Good stuff.

Delicious food, good prices, great quantities, healthy and fast! We stopped here to eat when passing through town and it was a great choice. I had the veggie Ethiopian platter and the green smoothie. Both excellent and so filling! The staff was very friendly! They even gave us free iced tea! A great family environment. Great for vegans(which I am) and omnivores. Healthy food with a conscience.
