This is one of the last bastions of old-school Thrifty’s ice cream in the universe! Getting scoops straight from the ice cream counter is one of those nostalgic and quintessential childhood experiences that should’t be missed. Nothing beats a double-scoop of Rocky Road and Coconut Pineapple! Yum! I’ve only gone to this location for the ice cream and it’s usually pretty good. Every now and they you will get lucky and the person will give giant scoops. They usually aren’t out of anything, although they have been on a few occasions. In the summer, it’s a real treat for kids and adults as well. It’s also fairly affordable, somewhere around $ 1.00 and change per scoop. I remember when it was like 25 cents per scoop… does that make me old? Sigh. And guess what? If a few scoops isn’t enough, you can buy Thrifty’s ice cream by the gallon in the freezer section. They’ve got it all. Though I will say that it isn’t quite the same as getting a giant, gooey sugar cone served up from the counter. Other than ice cream, this location seems fairly straightforward in its drugstore offerings. It has a pharmacy, and all of the standard snacks, makeup, and other products you would expect to find at a Rite-Aid. Everything appears well maintained. There is usually ample parking and the area is a good one.

I love this Rite Aid; I got my Rite Aid Wellness+ card here back in the ‘00s and it’s been my go-to pharmacy ever since. Most of the merchandise is pricey or off-brand and the crowd after midnight can be colorful, but the store and staff have always provided a remedy for ailments prescribed or otherwise and their garments section furnishes the very best in «Rancho Santa Margarita, California» apparel. Yay! I’m a fan.

I come in here about once every other week to buy things i need here and there, but mainly for thriftys ice cream because it is tasty and inexpensive. The reason I only give this place 2 stars is because of the poor customer service. I know it is probably a pain to stop what you are doing to help with ice cream, but I am a paying customer and would like to be treated with a little respect. My boyfriend and i came in about a mobth ago(sorry about the delayed review) and a middle aged woman with black hair came over to help us with our ice cream. She had a look on her face as if she was about to murder us as she walked over to the counter and when my boyfriend said«hi, how are you?» he got no response. Throughout the process of getting our ice cream she attempted not the slightest bit of eye contact and her demeanor was far from friendly. I don’t usually write reviews on Unilocal, but I felt this situation warranted some attention. We should not leave the store in a worse mood than we walked in especially after purchasing ice cream. Since then we have had numerous experiences with the older women treating us as unwanted guests and it makes us uncomfortable to suffer through their attitude everytime we want ice cream. I don’t mind waiting and inderstand that there are most likely much more pressing issues to deal with in the store, but some small amount of friendly interaction would be nice.

This particular Rite Aid is staffed by the kindest & friendliest people! I frequent their pharmacy for various children’s meds and they always greet me by name and make me feel welcome. I look forward to visiting! I would recommend the pharmacy and the store to anyone!

A little pricey on things but I only go here when I have to get something fast. The best part is that they have thrifty ice cream still and who doesn’t like ice cream!!!

I’m here to review their Thrifty Ice Cream I’ve never had Thrifty ice cream prior to coming here. I know, I know… but I ordered their chocolate malt in a cone. I LOVEDIT! I got to taste the birthday cake and medieval flavors, but didn’t like them as much. What makes this ice cream really yummy is that it’s cheap, squared-shape and lots of it! I now need to keep my eye out for their ice cream in stores up here!

This is THE worst Rite Aid pharmacy in OC. I’ve been going to the one in Laguna Woods for over a year now and have never had an issue picking up my meds. Tonight this pharmacy(not Laguna Woods) made me feel 2 inches tall and like an addict. They wouldn’t fill my script(same meds I’ve picked up at L.W.) they asked for my ID, and gave me the third degree about my identity. They questioned everything about me, had me wait for 20 mins all to tell me they wouldn’t fill it??? WTF! They said that my Dr. Didn’t write clear enough??? THANKSFORMAKINGMEFEELLIKE A SHADYADDICT! I Could get deathly sick without these. Thanks! Much appreciated.

MARLON if you’re reading this, I can’t message you back or write you, telling you how my holidays were because you’ve blocked me!!! WTF haha! And now back to your regularly scheduled review of Rite-Aid: Maximum security Rite-Aid. Must get a lot of Pampers thieves and liquor bandits. The ice cream is legendary, I remember when it was $ 0.15 a scoop; yep, I’m older than dirt. Was there the other night to grab some make-up essentials with my lady, and had our little dog in a carry-bag with us because she went nuts when we tried to leave the house. Security guard stood behind us while we paid at the register. Is this normal? 1 extra star for the ice-cream and all-nite hours…

The atmosphere is ruined by the fact they have to have security standing by every night. About 3 – 4 guards that look like they just got off welfare. If the shop is such a hot spot for crime, close it down, this is disgraceful.

I can’t tell you a single thing about what is sold here or how much it costs… unless, of course, we’re talking about Rite-Aid ice cream cones. Now, I’ll admit they could definitely use a few more flavors; there isn’t as much variety as I like. But what they do have is goddamn tasty. Here’s the thing: most employees there will give you a meager single scoop in your cone, but there’s a guy who works there(young, Mexican, obviously not giving Fuck #1 about his job’s guidelines) who’ll give you what amounts to 2 generous scoops if he’s assisting you. He’s like that one cool bartender that does his best to get you hammered, while all the others are measuring your pours up to the friggin’ line. The place is a little sketchy, though. They’ve got a security guard there after dark, a surprising sign in Rancho Santa Margarita. Some shit must’ve gone down there. But it’s worth braving the scene to get down with some tasty cone action.

Why Unilocal a Rite Aid? Because when you see a guy leaving the pharmacy and he calls an old lady a ‘fucking freak’ on mother’s day. how can you not? Classic OC rage! I love it. She admitted to calling him a stupid idiot earlier over something he spilled. Either way, he seemed like a dickhead so I was on her side. Free entertainment! My pills cost less at this Rite Aid than the one in Oakland. This chick loves a discount, so 5 stars for the savings. It’s been hella years since I’ve enjoyed a Chocolate Malted Crunch ice cream so, I grabbed a scoop. Ahh, sweet memories.

Thank god, the Thrifty Ice Cream legacy still lives on. It’s the ONLY reason why I’d ever make a special stop into a Rite Aid store. It’s simply the best, and for .99 cents, it’s almost a crime to sell such delicious ice cream so cheap. It reminds me of the summer days when I was a little girl and my mom would take me into Thrifty to get a sugar cone practically toppling over with their homemade tasting ice cream. Our ice cream of choice? Black Cherry, of course! Give it a try, and you’ll never go anyplace else for old fashioned ice cream!
