Middle Schooler central! AND they don’t play R-rated movies. AAAAANNNNDDD their high school staff drives me bonkers. I took my brother(18) and his friend(also 18) to go see a movie that was rated PG-13. And guess what? They carded me. I’m 20. Not 12. I showed them my ID anyway, and went on my way. When my brother walked up to the window, they asked for his ID. He doesn’t have a license, but he had a college student ID, with his name and a picture. The little 15 year old said she couldn’t accept it. Seriously? So my brother pulled out 3 old high school ID cards from his wallet, and the girl STILL wouldn’t let him have a ticket. Honestly, this place is meant for younger kids, kids that don’t have a driver’s license. What exactly was she looking for? A damn birth certificate? Anyway, I began to get annoyed and asked to talk to her manager. She told me I would have to come inside, but to get inside I would need to purchase another ticket. Oh my lanta. I nearly lost it. Actually, I kind of did. I explained to her that all of the items my brother had were valid forms of ID(and valid forms of a student discount), and that we wanted out movie ticket. I also asked multiple times to speak with her manager, but she just shook her head. After about 10 minutes, I demanded a refund, and that’s when she left her seat. Seriously? So my brother and our friend and I walked away. Congrats, Regal. I spent $ 11 to NOT see a movie and deal with a little brat.

Clean theater… nice big rows, so the chair is not right in front of you when you are seated… comfortable chairs… my first time there, and I would return :)

Nice, clean movie theater. Really convenient if you live in RSM, Dove, Coto, etc. However, I don’t use it very often for a couple of reasons. First is that the theater doesn’t have stadium seating. That has started to become a must for me. The second reason is something others might consider a plus. It is almost always completely dead. Hardly anyone uses this theater. And I hate struggling to find four seats together as much as the next guy, but to an extent, I think the presence of people is part of the theater experience. I’d much rather drive over to Foothill, which is a better theater, with stadium seating, and with traces of human life than go to this theater.

I took my little sister here yesterday and I’d never been here before. The staff was really nice and one even brought my soda into inside the theater because I’d accidentally left it outside. She wanted to make sure it wasn’t throw away. Very nice experience and very clean theater. All of the staff was really friendly. I would totally go here again.

The best thing about this theater is that if you’re going to see a movie that isn’t «family friendly» bets are that the theater is going to be pretty dead. Hubby and I will on occasion hit up this theater if… a) a slightly smaller screen will not effect the quality of the experience(ie: not a huge special effects movie) b) it’s a movie we really, really want to see and don’t want the experience to be ruined by a really busy, noisy theater. c) it’s not Friday or Saturday night. Because RSM is such a family based community this place is absolutely swarming with tweens on the weekend. and finally… d) we want to get our drink on before the show… it’s within walking distance to a bunch of restaurants as well as my house. Overall good service here. The theaters and restrooms are very clean. Tip: get the Regal Cinema Card. It seems like we are always getting freebies(popcorn, drinks and tickets). Apparently those points rack up really fast.

The Rancho Santa Margarita 6 is somewhat of an overlooked gem in the Santa Margarita/Mission Viejo area. Opened in the early 90’s, the theatre is rather typical of the multiplexes Edwards built just before the mega plex boom. However, unlike most of it’s surviving peers, this theatre has remained in remarkably good shape, standing in near mint condition. Unfortunately, this also means the theatre is lacking the modern ammenities most movie goers have come to expect(i.e. stadium seating), resulting in locals abandoning the Rancho Santa Margarita 6 for the nearbye Foothill Ranch 22. This abandonment is truly a shame, as the Rancho Santa Margarita 6 is a perfectly good cinema, that still offers the latest films and still makes an effort to please their customers(something you rarely see at a «failing» theatre). The theatre is clean, well maintained, and located in a quiet corner of a pleasent shopping complex. With plenty of parking, no crowds, and a fairly well behaved customer base(there are the occasional noisy child issues on weekends), this theatre is a nice alternative to what you find at far too many modern cinemas. About the only negative thing I can say about the Ranho Santa Margarita 6 is that they are down to only two sets of showtimes on weekdays(full schedule on weekends); sadly, a sure sign the theatre’s days are numbered. So, if you are looking for a place to watch the latest films, away from the crowds and annoyances of your typical megaplex, give the Rancho Santa Margarita 6 a try.
