The value is just not there, I received an average haircut at best. Including tip it was close to $ 80, I had to ask the girl twice to clean up my eyebrows. When she was all finished I had to ask her to clean up the hair around my ears, she obviously had been staring at it and the thought of cleaning it up never occurred to her. I left a 20% tip because I don’t want to cause problems or have people think I’m cheap but I will never return. I really don’t feel I got value for my money.

Excellent stylist (Brittany) and the owner (Lupe) are absolutely wonderful.
Lupe called me after my last review and we had a discussion and came to an understanding. I always give places a 2^nd chance and they hit it out of the park!

Katie was my barber here. Since she left, I have not been back. For the times that she was around, yes. Nothing better than a beer, a magazine, and a haircut. I also brought my new brother in law here the day before my wedding, and if they can make HIM look great, well… there is something special going on here. Just kidding, bro.
Kind, courteous staff, great location (very convenient for me — 5 mins away), and not to unreasonable pricing. They will make you look great.

SOooo sad guys! I had an appointment at 6:15 pm and I was late for 4 minutes. Only 4 minuets. When I parked in front of the salon, the girl at the reception said that they will not be able to make me a haircut. I don’t know what’s going on here, bad employees or something else, but I’ve been told that you have a good salon and the haircut master Alex, but when I called, they said that he no longer works for them, I still agreed to visit them and I was treated like that. Good luck!

Still one of the best places in a 25 mile radius to get your haircut.
Katie is at another location now and she’s still super awesome.
But, if you don’t want to venture afar, Victoria is your gal.
She’s kept me looking fresh for most of this year’s cuts and even cuts my little dude’s hair. She is super friendly and really good. Highly recommend.

Katie has moved on to Irvine. I’m happy for her. I decided to go with Brittany. After just 2 cuts, I can say that lightning can strike twice. I’m just as happy with her. Her changes to my hair cut and style is refreshing yet subtle.

Not a fan. We had a couple visiting from out of state over Valentine’s Day weekend, and we thought it would be fun to make an appointment for my husband and the other guy to get a nice shave as a V Day gift. I made the appointment online and didn’t find their website to be very mobile-​friendly, but it wasn’t a huge deal. I did receive confirmation emails for the shaves (see picture).
When we showed up for the appointments, we were told that I’d actually made appointments for haircuts, not shaves. She said shaves weren’t even possible that day because the «machine» wasn’t going to be back for a few days. I don’t even know what that means. She asked if the haircuts were okay and we declined as they just weren’t needed. I thought the girl working at the reception desk was a little young and just immature. No apology or anything for the mistake.
Disappointed and would not try again.

Been to 18 – 8 for the first time today for a Father & Son haircut. Everyone at 18 – 8 was extremely welcoming and helpful, not always a given when you show up with a three-​year-​old. Receptionist Alex looked after us, served us beverages and even during my haircut entertained my son and made sure he was fine. Stylist Wendy did fantastic job on both of us, and we will certainly return. 18 – 8 is your choice when you are looking for something a bit more than just a clip & run. Great atmosphere, too.

Great atmosphere! Wendy was my hair stylist and she did an awesome job styling my hair and beard. I will definitely recommend ¹⁸⁄₈ and Wendy to all of my friends!

Absolutely phenomenal establishment. I’m always greeted with a smile and offered refreshments in the guest lounge. Brittany always takes the time to figure out exactly what I want and never rushes through my haircut. Each station has it’s own sink for shampoo/​scalp massage, and they even have smocks that you can change into while you get your haircut. Nothing worse than having little pieces of hair under your shirt all day. Lifetime 18|8 customer and regularly recommend them to everyone that will listen. You will not be disappointed.

18/8’s facilities are clean and attractive. There’s a small lounge area for waiting with comfortable plush/​leather chairs and complimentary beverages (which I believe includes beer, though I’ve never partaken). I’ve never been kept waiting long for my appointment (though I’ve been a bit late few times myself). They don’t push styling products on you, though they have everything they use available for purchase in the shop.
They’re not a Supercuts, and you’re not going to get away with paying $ 20 for your haircut. That also means, however, that you won’t end up with a cheap looking haircut. Alex (the male barber, as I understand there are a couple) is a fabulous hairdresser and I started working with him almost five months ago.
While I was happy with my very first haircut (a rarity for me), I expressed a few concerns and Alex hooked me up with a card for a free cleanup appointment to make sure I was still happy with the look and how it was growing out. Alex is a fabulous barber (and fun to boot), and I’ve never had reason to consider having anyone else cut my hair.
As a new member, they will usually schedule you for regular cleanups (every couple weeks) to familiarize themselves with your hair and maintain your look, but I’ve been happy enough with my haircut’s maintainability that I only go in once a month for a cut.
All in all, I’ve been extremely pleased with this ¹⁸⁄₈ location. You are paying for a high-​quality hair cut, and you’ll get one. If you have any concerns about how your cut comes out, they’ll go above and beyond to make things right.

It was my second time coming here, first time was great, excellent service and great cut by Victoria. Ask for her, she’s awesome and does exactly what you ask plus better :)

Brittney cut my hair, she did an OK job. She was really nice and seemed to care about how I wanted my hair cut, however she just ended up forgetting about what I wanted. She used the clippers way to much, 90% of the time, and only cut about ¹⁄₃ of an inch from the top, I asked for an inch. Overall my hair looks OK, not fully satisfied but hey what else can I do at this point, right?
I’m giving this place 2 stars because I did not walk out happy, fully satisfied, and did not receive the service I paid for.
Which brings me to the main point, I was tricked by the manager in the front, short lady with black hair.
There are 3 levels of stylist, classic, executive and master. I wanted a classic cut, not an executive or master, this was made clear when I was asked. At the end I was charged for a masters cut, $ 60 including a tip for something I did not ask, I wouldn’t have minded if my hair was cut how I expected it to be cut.
The manager clearly tricked me, this is disrespectful, shady, and very low way of making money for a reputable business like this one. I am a professional and expected the same from them.
Most of us that live here understand what I’m saying, this is not what rancho Santa Margarita is about. I’m very disappointed with the way I was treated today and how the manager flipped on me. She doesn’t deserve to be apart of our great community.
I will no longer support their business.

I got my first hair cut with Catherine… good… younger hair style… i was lioking for a change and this was a good change… Scalp massage for 5 mins was amazing… having the 25 mins was mind blowing…

I usually have my brother cut my hair, because that’s what he does, but he wasn’t around and my gf had bought me a Groupon for this location. I was certain it was a nice place and all, but it’s just that I haven’t trusted anyone else to cut my hair in years. What if they screw it up?
After downing my Stella, they paired me up with the one dude who works there. Now, look, I’m not being sexist but they’ve just got so many attractive women here that I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad disappointed. Plus, maybe sensing my body energy or whatever, he didn’t give me the neck massage that was included with my cut. Granted, I didn’t mind since I can’t really relax when a dude massages me, but he never even offered. Not a big deal.
Massage be damned because this guy knows how to cut hair. He was quick and efficient, chopping my mane down to reasonable size in a flash. I also enjoyed having my edges done with a straight razor, although the conditioner used on my neck after did give me a bright red rash for three days. That was the only part that sucked.
I’ve been back since, and I’ll likely be back again. As much as I enjoy getting free cuts from my brother, the classy experience here and excellent cut ensures I’ll return.
And the free beer, too.

Walked in to check out the place on Friday. Was greeted right away. I Asked how long it would be and the lady said we can take you right now for a $ 39, but since it’s your first time here fill this forum out and we will take you as soon as your done. As I’m filling out the forum an older man walks in asks if they can take him now and the lady looks back at me then looks at him and says yes… She then comes back to me and says the next available is now $ 49 and it’s going to be 20 to 30 mins… I just walked out. Will never being going back there and will take my business and will never refer anyone else to that place. I don’t even write reviews on Unilocal but that incident really just grinded my gears.

I walked in to this salon and Victoria took great care of me. She gave me the best hair cut, did my eyebrows and even gave me an amazing neck message! After my first haircut with Victoria I can’t go to any other stylist; she knows what I’m looking for! This salon definitely has some nice touches like the complimentary beer I had.
Trust me, come in and ask for Victoria and you’ll never look back!

Like this company because they hire good people, but they also have people come and go all the time. I signed up for a package and my barber left so I could not get a credit. Disappointed. Do not purchase the package.

The people get 10 stars. Been there twice with great customer service and perfect cuts. They did all the work for me. Nicole was super nice.

I’ve been going to ¹⁸⁄₈ for a little over a year now, and had another awesome experience on my last visit. I called in at 9:30 in the morning hoping to make a last minute appointment for around 10am and the receptionist informed me that unfortunately they soonest time they had available was 11:30– which would have been fine on any other day, but didn’t fit my schedule. A few minutes later I got a call back from the very same receptionist letting me know that she would be able to get me in at 10:00 with Allison.
Allison is one of the senior stylists at ¹⁸⁄₈ and has been there since it opened, but it was my first time getting my hair cut with her. I’ve never had such an awesome haircut– she was able to give me the exact cut I’ve been growing out my hair for and she took the time to show me how to style it to get the results I wanted– without making the hard sell on styling products. I’m now ready to start 2014 with a new hairstyle and I’m looking forward to my next visit with Allison and the ¹⁸⁄₈ crew.
