My wife and I came here on a busy Friday night!!! The server(Kaori) was the kindest, sweetest, hardest working server I have encountered. Props to her for being the only server/busser of the busy night. We ordered The spicky baby lobster roll Spicky tuna roll The baked Philadelphia roll Two miso soups And the Spicy yellowtail plate They were all AMAZING!!! My favorite was the spicky yellowtail plate, the yellowtail melted in my mouth, you could taste the quality! My wife’s favorite was the baked Philadelphia roll, all the combined flavors works amazingly together!!! We would definitely come back again!!! And we encourage everyone to try it!!!

Pricing was not worth the food quality. Sushi roll presentation was horrible. They looked messy and we’re not that great.

Everyone is always so nice and friendly. The sushi is primo and better than a lot of the stuff down the hill. The yellowtail is amazing and so is the crispy rice and jalapeño bomb. Definitely recommend and certainly a hidden gem.

Found this place on Unilocal, while on a Saturday outing. Loved the hospitality and the food! Brought my 7 year old daughter for her first time trying Japanese food and she loved all of it, including the little orange they give you at the end. Totally cute! I’m not from around the area but when I’m around the area I would definitely return

Wow!!! A truly delicious meal served on a fantastic platter! The fish that died for this food… I can only pray that they knew how delicious they tasted one mouth D: Went savage with a little class on these little suckers because I used my fingers instead of those meddling chopsticks!

Summary: Excellent quality. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Tiny place, so don’t plan for a large group. Plenty of parking. Go with the specials. My wife had already ordered food to go from here a couple of times previously, but we decided to dine in so that I could try the food as well. One of the chef’s specials for the day was Red snapper for about $ 6, so we ordered that, along with a sashimi plate containing yellowtail belly(upgraded from standard yellowtail), tuna, salmon, albacore, miso soup, and salad for about $ 20, and a ¼ roll for about $ 10(I think). The fish was all fantastic. Excellent textures and flavors. The Sashimi came with ponzu sauce, which added a nice complement to everything. The staff was also very friendly throughout the meal. We will definitely be back :-)

Great little sushi place with unique options and superior taste. Staff is very polite and attentive! The only thing I could ask is for some descriptions on the less known rolls.

I’ve lived in Pedro my whole life and never tried Sushiya. I think that’s because when I first got into sushi 20 plus years ago, sushi Tashiro opened up the street and my friends and I went there and had fun and ate good sushi. Sushiya is in a strip mall next to Carl’s Jr, so it never caught my eye. I re entry saw an article about the top 5 restaurants in Pedro which caught my eye. Sushiya was included. So, we’re here checking it out. We ordered food, then I decided I’d Unilocal it, so when I checked in, I was reminded they have fish tacos, which the article mentioned and which the ‘check in’ entitled me to a free order. See photo attached… They were not what I expected, but we’re awesome! I honk an order of 3 is normally $ 11, which I wouldn’t pay that much for them, but they were a littl crispy wager with a bunch of chopped fish in a flavorful, slightly spicy sauce. Tasty! I ordered a few things, including two things the super polite and attentive waitress recommended, the red snapper, uni and yellowtail. I also ordered salmon and unaho, and wifey ordered a tuna roll. Everything was bomb. Yellowtail super tender, uni etc delish! Snapper not my thing and tasted accordingly. Prices were typical for a decent sushi restaurant. I thought I got a good value for some of the seriously best sushi I’ve ever eaten. I’ll go back for sure. Like my FaceBook group ‘Explore San Pedro’ to find out about some local nuggets.

Fish is fresh. I didn’t like the sushi rice at all. It was over cooked and had too much vinegar which made it overly sweet. Not crowded. Clean. Wouldn’t be my first.

Came for dinner with the fam tonight. No wait on a Monday! Bright, quiet atmosphere. Large Sapporos were a reasonable $ 8 each(no pitchers). Started with an excellent tofu salad for $ 8.95 and some edamame. Hot combinations are a strong option. Kids split the teri salmon and shrimp tempura with rice, salad and miso soup for $ 16.50. Nice, large salmon filet with just a bit of not-too-sweet teriyaki sauce and not too much char. Had an excellent $ 11.95 spider roll. Service was excellent. Appreciated the hot towels and chilled, sliced oranges.

This place was just ok for me. I tried the free fish taco Unilocal deal. That along with the aloha roll and ¼ roll weren’t my favorite. I did like the palos verdes roll. They give you a towel to wash your hands with at the end of your meal. This place is definitely not my go-to for sushi.

Absolutely love this place! We’ve lived nearby for almost 2 years and after a few bad experiences with some of the local sushi spots we had just about given up. So we decided to try it out. We love the small, serene environment. Love the sushi chefs and waiters. The sushi is amazing! Definitely recommend the 911 roll, tuna steak salsa, salmon skin roll, and yellowtail collar.
