When you live in North Quincy there are very few options for authentic Chinese food. That is the only reason why we eat at East Chinatown and Grand Chinatown(same owners). Over the past 8 years we’ve noticed the prices increase but yesterday’s take out was ridiculously overpriced, the quality was poor, order was incorrect, and the attitude from the owner who took the order and gave us our take out has the worst attitude. We ordered a small crab Rangoon, yee mein with crab meat and Buddha’s delight with bean curd and vegetables. As you can see they charged us for a large crab rangoon and gave us bean curd with 8 delights which is not what we ordered. Prices may be subject to change but there’s a problem when you order Buddha’s delight with bean curd because you want all vegetables with noodles for $ 9.45 and instead get a seafood bean curd dish with no noodles for $ 16.50 and even on the menu it’s listed as $ 13.50. Our small crab rangoon for $ 6 became a large order for $ 8.50 and the menu lists it at $ 7.95. Have you looked at the photo of the crab yee mein? I see a little itty bitty piece of crab and a pile of noodles. Not worth your $ 12.95. I asked the owner for an itemized receipt when he said I owed $ 40.61 and in Cantonese he tells his employees how annoying I am because I think the prices are wrong. When I get the receipt and it says large crab rangoon I say we ordered a small and he said no you didn’t specify so I put in an order for large. I said no we ordered a small, regardless, isn’t it the restaurants job to ask what size we want if we supposedly didn’t specify? The owner doesn’t even have enough manners to talk badly about customers until after they leave, he just does it right in front of you. For $ 40.61 take the train into Chinatown, order the same 1 app and 2 entrees, and leave without even spending a total of $ 40.

Been going here for a few years now and I’ve never had a problem with the service or the food. I usually order for takeout because often they have the TV on too loud and I Iike to pig out with my take out in my own home. The few times I’ve eaten in – the service was fine. And I find that this place is the closest to Boston Chinatown in offering authentic Chinese food; not the American sesame chicken, General Gau variety. The fact that its mostly Chinese families when we go always is a good sign. The dumpilngs, minced pork and green beans and the beef short rib spicy pepper chow foon are my regular order. The salty/spicy pork chops was also delicious. I will say that if the food came out of order – this not the first Chinese restaurant for that to happen nor rude waiters insisting on a tip. I would give it a try –

I’ve been here many times and the service is always abysmal. This time, I came here with my family(group of 6) and we ordered a pretty standard meal of rice and about 5 – 6 dishes. The food came out at all different times. We were first served 2 dishes with no rice. The rice came about 5min later. We began to eat and about 20min after the first 2 dishes, the second round of food came out. The waitress hardly refilled our tea and came up to us about 20min after the second round came out. She told us our last dish was almost ready– at this point, my aunt made a joke about being too full to eat anymore and the hostess said, «well, you should have told me earlier and I would have cancelled the order.» Rude. When I went to pay the check, the waitress never came to pick it up. No problem, the counter was right behind me. I didn’t believe we had very good service and decided to tip her 10%- normally I’m at least a 20% tipper. When I sat back down, she came over to our table and said that I had to tip her 15%. Excuse me? I thought tipping was based on the service you had provided? Not a set gratuity. Just because we had 6 people, an automatic 15% shouldn’t be included if the waitress did a poor job– if anything, it gives her no reason to do a good job, but I digress. In the end, I tipped her 15% for her poor services and now I refuse to go back because of this or I will only get take-out in the future. Oh yeah, food. It’s pretty good. I like their calamari.

The«hostesses» are better off being statues because they stood there doing nothing. We walked in and we were not greeted. After a group of people paid and left, you would think they would clean the table right? Not here. They just stood there like mannequins and did not bother cleaning up the table at all. If you want bad service as you come in this is the place for you! Ugh!!!

I would give it a 0 start if there is one, the food in this place is disgusting, nothing here is good, for those of who say it’s authentic, hell no, it’s not authentic, only few dishes is, and those of few, only roast duck is eatable. The rest, absolutely disgusting, many dishes are watery, i mean, it looked like soup while they are dry dishes. The chicken they serve, let’s say half fried chicken that I ordered, it’s all left overs, it taste completely dry and look like pig food where it’s all smashed together in little pieces and bonely, DONOTGOTOTHISRESTAURANT. I would puke if I go to this place again, only my parent would order roast duck there, they order from there for so many years, all roast ducks, their dishes were so carelessly made, I refuse to eat anything from there, who knows if it’s infected by other raw meat or not. Since the final product came out like that, it must mean the process of taking care of the food is horrible too.

Food is good but the reason im giving it 1 star is because of their price inconsistency. I usually get one cold cut with rice, last week I was charged 7 dollars which is about right but today they charged me 10 $ instead. Ive been going here for the past two years. Like a previous post mentioned, check your bill to the menu price. Not the first time it happen and it wont be the lasted.

Honestly, the food isn’t bad. The portions are big and the quality is better than the Chinese food in this area. In fact, I like a lot of the dishes — so why would I give this restaurant a one-star rating? The petty woman behind the counter(who also answers the phone). I have loyally ordered all sorts of dishes from East Chinatown for over eight years, but ownership of the restaurant has changed in the past year, for the worse. The former owner now solely operates Grand Chinatown(one minute away — the dim sum restaurant). As a result, East Chinatown’s sauces taste a bit different, but up to par for the most part. Back to my issue with this woman — I have a go-to dish here and every freaking time I pay, the price is different. Sometimes it’s $ 8, sometimes it’s 9. I can see the woman eyeballing the way I dress before she tells me how much I have to pay up, and it increases when I’m not in my casual attire. Honestly, give or take one dollar here or there is fine, but it’s been inconsistent more than a handful of times. If you eat here, I’d check the bill and see if the menu price matches with what’s on there. Though I live five minutes away and like some of the dishes, I won’t be coming back because of this stupid crap they are pulling. Please respect your customers.

This place was a good place when it first opened, but it certainly went down hill over the years. The food is a hit or miss and the service is a hit or miss as well. I have had the worse customer service experience with them today. I called for takeout and the girl said hello and I announced my order which are the exact item. She said hold on, so I did. She came back on the phone and announced the price and then said bye and was about to hang up and I quickly said I would also order another dish with no onions. And she repeated the order with a loud rude voice, sounding frustrated and I so I hung up. Because of that experience, I will never order from them again or support their business. And from the looks of other reviews, it looks their customer service isn’t up to standards either. I really hope they do something about that and listen to the customers.

This place is awesome. If your not in Chinatown and you crave authentic Chinese food this is the place to be. Its a bit pricey then in Chinatown but the food is great. I always get the salt and pepper pork chops, beef chow foon, the three delight which includes the roast duck, salted chicken and roast pork with rice. Also the pan fried noodles is delicious! All so good!!! The services is great as well!

Meh. Closer than Chinatown but the food not as good. Service is subpar. Not worth frequenting unless you are really desperately craving Chinese bbq and don’t want to make the trip to Chinatown.

This is almost becoming the DimSum place in Quincy. Alway serving fresh and authentic Cantonese style brunch. The down side, the wait staff are always seem over stress and disinterest. As for dinner, I would not recommend this place. Alway hit or miss with that.

Food was good but the service was horrible. Maybe it was because we weren’t Chinese.

You must first be aware that this is not your typical Americanized Chinese restaurant. It caters heavily to North Quincy’s Asian population. When you first walk in, you see the glass warming cabinet with whole roast ducks, roast chickens, roast pork, and other kinds of meat. When seated, you will be given tea. They don’t ask, they just bring it to you. It’s loose-leaf and very good. The food I’ve had here has almost always been superb, but the star has always been the soup. Both the egg drop and the hot and sour soup are very good. I also recommend getting something involving the aforementioned duck.

Great authentic Chinese food in Quincy! Love the salt and pepper squid. The stir-fried scallop and chinese chives with XO sauce is very tasty. The sautéed peapod stems with garlic is also very good. They also have fantastic dim sum if you are looking for a Chinese weekend brunch!

For Quincy, I give this 5 stars for best Chinese restaurant we’ve found… but compared to other Chinese restaurants in the surrounding Boston area, this would be more of a 4. This is one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the area, which is great to take your traditional parents/grandparents who are looking for genuine Chinese food, i.e., not General Gaos chicken or take-out menu type items. As others have mentioned, the menu titles are in Chinese and English — but some of the English descriptions arent very helpful. I’ve gotten by fine with the things I’ve ordered… but going with someone who is more experienced with authentic chinese food options will help you find some of their best dishes. Also true to Chinese restaurants, the waitstaff wont come in and check on you, you need to flag them down whenever you need them — only exception is when you take off your tea lid, they will know to come refill it without flagging anyone. but asking for more food, the check, etc. you will need to flag someone — and it can be any waitstaff, not whoever took your order. The ambiance is also bright(in a weird neon glow) with large round tables and can get very loud — so def not a place to bring a date, but great place to bring the family for lots of food.

I realized that it’s tough to find quality Chinese food nowadays. This place, however, reminds me how Chinese food is suppose to be for the best of memories in this state. Or was it that I just had suckie Chinese food in various place in recent months? It’s decent portion and the food is fresh. The service was attentive. This isn’t a place about varietal; but it suits my needs. It has the stir fry taste that I miss so dearly! It’s not easy these days to have good wok cooked foods. This is what I look for in Chinese cooking thus this is my new home for Chinese food till I find another joint that can top this.
