U-Haul Moving & Storage of Providence at I-95

I’m not really sure why so many people are complaining about the staff, this is a SELF storage facility. Do people expect them to move them in and out? The staff were always pleasant with me as I paid my bill and as I left, nothing more and nothing less. The units were well maintained and secure. Parking is certainly a challenge here but it’s a large complex in an urban center. My belongings were safe and it was a hassle free experience at this location. What more do people want from a storage/​truck rental facility?

All I know is that I rented a truck from this location and the staff were horrible. I had to wait in line like 20 minutes because they kept asking the manager how to use the system. I was told over and over again that the rental had to be back by 1 but I didn’t see any time limits on the signs. It just said 19.95 plus the mileage fees. Then she told me that if I didn’t have it in by 1 they were going to charge me a fee. My original card didn’t go through so I pulled out another one and the employee asks me if there is any money on it which I can’t see how thats her business. Then to top it all off when I was returning, it took forever because she didn’t know how to do the transaction with someone paying cash. These employees need better training and maybe an etiquette class.

While the prices are a little high (I paid about $ 50 per month for my XSmall unit), the facilities are well-​maintained, if not a bit on the creepy side. You see, all of the lighting is motion-​activated, and there was no lighting in my unit which was at the end of a very long, very windy, very creepy, labyrinth-​like hallway.
The woman at the front desk is always curt, never rude or anything, but not particularly friendly, either. What I really don’t like about this place is the lack of paring for when, you know, you have to unload the massive amount of stuff you want to store, or load up for that matter. There’s literally no place to park except three little spaces by the entrance. Unless you have one of the outdoor units, this is a massive pain.
SPeaking if size, this place is enormous. So huge, you need a map because I literally got lost my first time here. That said, they have plenty of units to rent out.
Sadly, I did not keep my items here for a very long time –too many inconveniences for something hat’s supposed to be a convenience, I suppose.

NIGHTMARE CITY. Unhelpful and discourteous employee, and a case of too good to be true.
I made a reservation online (two weeks in advance) for a storage unit and «free truck rental» (advertised on the site with no qualifications), and called to confirm the reservation and ask for details about the truck rental. The person I talked to confirmed the reservation and explained that the truck rental was actually a pick-​up service, and, noting a heavy schedule due to university move-​outs, said that I was on the schedule and to call in a few days to confirm a pick up time.
When I called today to confirm the pick up time, the employee I talked to 1. initially could not find my reservation, 2. when she’d found the reservation, said that they had no trucks available due to the high rate of student moves (which they should be prepared for, as it is a seasonal event), 3. offered no way to resolve the situation, 4. continually blamed the other employee, and 5. was incredibly rude and unhelpful throughout the entire process.
When I called the 1 – 800 number on
, they were also unable to find my reservation, blaming the service failure on the Providence location’s website. When asked about the «free truck rental,» they said that each center only has one truck, and it was by availability, which is not noted on the website. Again, they offered no way to resolve the situation, saying that they were «trying as hard as they could» to find extra trucks and would let me know «if one became available.»
Not exactly a reassuring experience with people who want you to trust them with your stored possessions. I just made a reservation with a very helpful person at U-​Haul.
