What a great surprise! We usually go to other restaurants in this area, but the wife and I finally got around to this place. We were pleasantly surprised! Great beer list, great service, and really good food. We both got the flatbreads, and they were great. Will definitely come back!

Went here for restaurant week for dinner. Man everything I tried was amazing. May have been prixe fixe menu, but they made an excellent impression. Bar seating was cozy, waitress was nice and personable, can’t wait to come back on a special occasion.

I have been there several times and it never disappoints me. The food is one of the best I have had and really does not compare to most restaurants in Columbus for the price. Not sure who the chef is but he/she is excellent

I have been putting off going here for some reason and I have no idea why. This place was great! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The drink selection was great and had a number of excellent beers to pick from. And then the food — I had seen some mixed reviews but this was very good! We tried two of the naan flatbreads(Texmex and truffle) both were excellent! The other food going past our table looked really tasty as well. We can’t wait to go back again!

I’m not in Powell very often, but if I was in the area looking for a place to eat, I would definitely stop by the Liberty Tavern. My boyfriend and I stopped in last night for restaurant week — we sampled several of the dishes from the $ 25 prix-fixe menu. Our waitress Lindsey was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our drinks never went unfilled. The food came out quickly too. Everything we tried was very tasty. The prime rib tacos with chimichurri were especially good. The portions were very big! I thought because it was a prix-fixe menu that maybe the portions would be scaled down, but I was served the biggest pork chop I had ever seen — and it was cooked perfectly. The pork chop was served with garlicy mashed redskins and roasted asparagus. Also — Cream puffs. ‘Nuff said. Overall, I was very happy(and VERYFULL) when I left.

Fine. That is the best way to describe my experience both times my wife and I went there. My Reuben sandwich was a little soggy, but decent. Their beer selection is okay, especially for Powell. Our service was not that great but it seemed like they were pretty busy for their two people working. I would recommend going elsewhere unless you’re just looking for a sandwich and a drink and you live close.

This place is awesome. I personally love the lamb sliders and pretty much every sandwich on the menu. The pot roast sandwhich is my favorite! The Staff is cool and they have many beers on tap.

We stopped coming in about a year ago due to all sorts of problems. Food just ok, bad service, etc. We tried again about two weeks ago and the food was fantastic. Short ribs are unreal. Last night I had the shrimp and grits. Some of the best I have ever had. Fantastic. They are struggling with the service. I gather that they are having problems hiring servers. Other than that a great choice.

Cute place but absolutely average food at best. Had to send shrimp and grits back bc it was cold. 2 orders of fish and chips was edible but not hot. Who sends fish to customers cold? It’s the worst.

I went here for a dinner with a group of ladies. We called an hour ahead of time and they said they could get us a table within a reasonable period of time. The management was very polite over the phone. I ordered a Strawberry Almond Salad. It was seasoned lightly with some bacon as well which I didn’t expect. The food for all of the ladies was brought out in timely manner. I enjoyed this restaurant. Not sure if the food is amazing but I may have to come back and try other entrees. Also the restrooms are clean and in great shape.

Tucked off the main drag in Powell, but worth it. Killer food. Short Rib tacos are a great app. The Smoked Fried Chicken is legit. And don’t forget the bread pudding for 2. But eat it all yourself. You’re welcome.

Check your bill as the menu does not accurately reflect the pricing. The kids meals are supposed to be $ 5 each. We were charged $ 6 for grilled cheese and when I asked about it, I was told«yeah, that’s weird, but it’s just how the computer rings it up when you put in cheese». The dollar doesn’t matter, but that false advertised pricing, the poor explanation and the fact that nobody rectified the situation is disappointing.

I met Mike G. for lunch here last week and he recommended the Vegetarian Black Bean Burger. I added provolone($ 1), and substituted the fries for sweet potato fries($ 2). I can honestly say this burger is one of the top 3 veggie burgers I’ve had in Cbus. The only improvement I can suggest would be to use a whole wheat bun. The sweet potato fries were amazing and I did not get charged extra for the side of ranch. I don’t frequent Powell, but I would go back for the same exact meal. Good service, and easy to find off the intersection of Powell Rd. and Liberty St.

What a great little family restaurant! The building where this restaurant is located in right in the middle of downtown Powell with several other local businesses. I will say that it was a little hard to find, but it is a part of the large 50 S. Liberty St. building. I stopped in with a friend for happy hour around 6PM and there were a few empty tables, but we grabbed seats at the bar. There were many families with young children eating, but I guess that is to be expected on a Monday night. For happy hour they have $ 2 off drafts and glasses of wine, and some $ 5 apps including wings and their Liberty Chips, which are kettle chips covered in cheese sauce with tomatoes and green onions. We ordered both of those, along with a hummus plate. Between the 2 of us, it was more than enough food and I was pleasantly surprised with our bill at the end of the outing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Powell area, but it is a nightmare getting here during rush hour so if you’re coming from outside of Powell, consider yourself warned. It will take longer than expected. And while you’re there, stop at Rita’s across the parking lot for dessert after dinner. You can never go wrong with Rita’s! :)

During my lunch break while visiting the lovely city of Powell, OH my coworker and I stopped into The Liberty Tavern. The service was delightful, I’m almost positive she was also an owner of this lovely establishment. Very kind and kept our drinks topped off! I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich served with a tequila-lime aioli, pepper jack cheese, bacon, avocado, tomato and lettuce on a brioche bun… needless to say I died and went to heaven. If I’m ever back out in Powell, I will defiantly be making another visit.

We stopped in this place for drinks and easily got a seat during a busy Saturday night. Very friendly bartender suggested a great root beer beer. He was so friendly and had exceptional customer service. We didn’t eat but would definitely consider coming back.

The food was terrible. You could microwave something better at home. It is a shame because their location in Powell is prime. My husband and I were out on date night and both ended up with upset stomachs. The grumbling feeling left us totally distracted and uncomfortable during our concert later. Liberty Tavern will have to up its game to keep up with the changing landscape of Powell, namely their competitors down the street at Kraft House.

Lamb Sliders. Yeah, Lamb Sliders… my friend Darlene raved about them and I do mean raved about them. She said they were the best she’d ever had anywhere, anytime, any place, period. Me? Not my thing. So I had the Vegetarian Black Bean Cheddar Burger with fries and it was pretty damned good. A good solid burger, grilled just right with a slight grilled/charred taste to it. I’d recommend this one to anyone as even the carnivore in your family would like this one. The fries were pretty generous and even though we shared them, there were still some left when we were done. The bartender took really good care of us and gave us the right number of check backs. Darlene said her So Co and OJ was very strong btw. The atmosphere is colonial tavern with a definite touristy feel about it. What I mean by that is that it made me feel like I was in some family orientated tourist spot somewhere in Philly or Williamsburg VA but without the costumed servers. I guess the Ben Franklin quotes written on the walls along with the 6′ tall Statue of Liberty and the Liberty Bell display made me feel that way. No points taken away but it was a very definite feeling I got from this place. Our lunches and a cocktail and a beer were $ 32 and some change total. Not horrible but not cheap. The food is quality from our point of view so it’s not out of line. Would I go back again? Yeah, I’d go back. It’s about a 3.4 star experience.

First-ever visit to Liberty Tavern and it was a weekday lunch. I discovered a sandwich that was oh-so-very-good: Salmon Club The Salmon Club sandwich wasn’t really a club sandwich at all as it was grilled salmon, tomato, lettuce, bacon and choice of cheese(made mine provolone), a semi-chipotle sauce, all on toasted wheat bread. One layer, not 2 or 3 as club sandwiches often go. NOMATTER! The sandwich came out hot and tasty to perfection. Way beyond perfection for me, a grilled salmon lover as the pink inside was pink but the outside had been seared, making it crispy ’round the edges. Fabulous. I swapped out fries or chips for the veggie-of-the-day which was wonderful. I received a small cup of sauteed yellow and green zucchini with a mixture of yellow and red peppers. A nice buttery taste to those veggies, wonderfullly complimenting the sandwich. I sampled a few pretzel bites with queso. Meh… although the pretzel bites were hot and crunchy. It was the orange-yellow right out of a jar cheese that was standard presentation. If it had been white queso with jalepenos… Sayonnara! The inside of the Liberty Tavern is pub crawl good looking, dark with one or two mysterious clients seated at tables. What you’d want in a tavern. The HDTVs were placed only so-so, so if you’re out to watch sports I can’t say the Liberty Tavern would be in the Top 3 of pubs/bars to do this. Could it be I’ll have to return to see if dinner is as good? I should say so.
