She always has the best ideas and style options for my hair. It’s a social hour for us both :) She is a wonderful, experienced, professional person, that truly loves her work. I chose Ellie from A New Twist to do hair and makeup for my wedding at the Catamaran Resort in November. Ellie and her assistant did an amazing job. They showed up to the Catamaran on time and were even ahead of schedule (which was much-​appreciated on the day of my wedding!). They did hair for my 5 bridesmaids and MIL, makeup for my mom, and my hair and makeup. I have a LOT of curly hair and my sister has even more wavy hair, but Ellie styled both of our hair with ease. All the hairstyles stayed in put all night long through hours of dancing (and even a surprise rainshower!). Both Ellie and her assistant were so sweet and easy-​going and amazing at making even the most picky girl happy. I highly recommend Ellie for your wedding hair and makeup!

This place is adorable. Nice décor. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. I felt very pampered throughout my whole experience. I immediately received a head massage with stress-​relief aromatherapy oil. I was served a glass of red wine while waiting for my hair to lighten. My stylist was very nice. I left with a well done partial highlight and cut at a great price!

Susie is the best! She always knows the latest trends. I only go to Susie. And have been for many years. My hair looks amazing every time she styles it!

Susie Beyer-​McCartney is amazing!!! She got me in the day I called and accommodated my schedule. The mini massage before my hair cut was awesome! She gave me a fresh, sassy new look! Love it! I’ll definitely be back! I highly recommend! !!

First off Ellie is the best and super sweet! When I met her for my trial she completely understood the look I was going for and even gave me a couple of options. Day of, Ellie and her team were on time and extremely friendly and accommodating to what each girl wanted. Ellie did my wedding hair and makeup while her colleagues did the bridesmaids, and mom’s hair and makeup. They truly did a great job! My bridesmaids were very happy with their hair and makeup, and I loved the airbrush makeup, it lasted all night! Ellie even stuck around until after the ceremony to give me an up do. I would highly recommend A New Twist, and Ellie for your event!
Also, I now go to Ellie for all my haircuts and color needs. She is awesome! Not to mention that the salon is super cute!

Stacey did an incredible job with my highlights and cut… I had no idea what I wanted when I walked in today and she listened to what I like and don’t like… she then proposed a new style and color… I went with it and I absolutely love it! I highly recommend her!

Ellie did wedding hair and makeup for me, my mom and my bridesmaids. She and her colleagues were friendly and did a great job! My mom has short hair and I wasn’t sure what she’d be able to do to make it look much different, but she gave it some glamourous volume that lasted through brunch the next day, and my mom got too many compliments to count. My bridesmaids were happy with their hair and makeup, I loved the airbrush makeup, and my updo lasted all day too!

The best salon and stylists! I have been going to Ashley Woodruff for years and after every visit I am so happy with my hair. I love this salon! Ashley Woodruff has been doing my hair for years and always does an AMAZING job! Whether it’s a cut, color, extensions, or style I always leave her chair feeling beautiful! She is so personable that when I’m at the salon I feel like I am just catching up with one of my girlfriends! She makes it so easy to schedule appointments too! I wish there were more stars to give! I have been seeing Ashley Woodruff for a few years now since she was back at her other salon. It was by chance I had a walk in and she was open and I was so glad that she was. She is amazing at what she does and is super talented. ! We always collaborate on some sort of awesome hair cut or color and anytime I leave her chair I feel like I could run the world with my new hair. She is also super sweet and I always feel like I’m just hanging out with my best friend when I go to see her.
This salon is absolutely adorable. When I walked in it was not what I was expecting and Im glad she found such a great spot. Its a great location and I felt right at home as soon as I walked in.

If I could give Ellie and her staff 10 stars, I would. Ellie did my hair and makeup when I got married. She is extremely talented and skilled at what she does. Ellie and her husband, Mike, are some of the sweetest and friendliest people I know.
Ellie has cut my hair for several years. She even fixed a botched cut that I «won»!
She is a lifesaver and I will not trust anyone with my hair except for Ellie! I always leave her salon feeling like a million bucks.

I first got to know Ellie at a friend’s wedding several years back. Her and her team did a fabulous job on our hair and makeup. When I got engaged earlier this year, I knew I wanted to book Ellie for the bridal party’s hair and makeup.
In October for my wedding, 17 of us (bridal party, MOBs, close family and friends) took over the salon for my big day. Ellie allowed us to bring food, drinks, and take control of the music. It was a blast and everyone looked amazing.
One of my bridesmaids was also impressed and we recently went back to A New Twist for her wedding — again, great work by her team!
I highly recommend Ellie and her team. They do quality work, have a really cute salon and are reasonable! I wouldn’t look anywhere else

I saw this salon on Unilocal and they were running a special that I could not resist so I decided to try it. The salon is just down the street from my house so it’s very convenient!
My stylist today was Stacey and she did an amazing job! I have red hair and can be very picky about the shade so she asked me a few questions and showed me some different samples to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted.
The color is amazing as you can see in my photo (before left and after right, obviously) and the cut is on point! I actually have a ton of hair so I like a lot of layering to remove the weight which she did. I came in with straight across or «fringe» bangs which were a total grown out disaster and she made them look great. I will definitely be coming back!

Ellie has taken me through all of my major life moments. I first went to her to get my hair done for prom. I loved her so much that I eventually had her do the hair for my entire wedding party. Since then, she’s the only hair dresser I trust to make me look good on my every hair whim– whether it be bangs, a short bob, or even a purple dye job.

When I first stepped into the new salon I was floored by how gorgeous the place is. It’s like going to a ridiculously expensive spa, but better because Ellie is there!
I wouldn’t go to anyone other than Ellie for my hair anyway but now the experience is just that much better!

I used Ellie back in June of 2010 for my wedding hair and make-​up. She did such a great job! Communicating via e-​mail, she was always very prompt to reply to my questions.
We did a trial run at her salon a few days before the big day to pinpoint the exact look I was going for. Hubby’s jaw dropped when I walked out of the shop (destination wedding so I had to tow him around most places with me!), and when we went next door for some lunch, the waiter asked if I had come from a beauty pageant, lol.
She took a few photos from different angles to use as reference for the big day, and was nice enough to e-​mail them to me so I could keep them :)
On the big day Ellie showed up on time to do my hair/​makeup as well as my mom’s. She was a joy to talk to and very upbeat during our session. She got us done with plenty of time before my bridesmaids showed up to do pictures. My makeup lasted all night and she gave me a little extra of the lip gloss she used so I could reapply it as it wore off from the eating/​drinking.
All in all a wonderful experience from start to finish. I wish I could comment more on her other services, but alas since I don’t live in the area I haven’t been able to try more. Highly recommended!

I have been going to Ellie now for as long as I can remember (e.g., years and years) and she gets five stars for every service she offers — color, cuts, keratin treatments, up-do’s, make-​up, and creativity! And believe me I’ve tried them all many times over. (She’ll even take a photo for you to take home for your use in re-​creating the same great look you’ll leave with…)
I don’t think I’ve ever told her what to do for my hair; my experience is she always knows best; her ideas and skills are better than any I have seen or experienced. And yet, I’ve also seen her make magic happen for other clients based on their special requests and/​or photo ideas.
It is so exciting to see her dream of opening her own shop has finally come true. The place is first class (though the prices are reasonable and certainly competitive with any other salon in town)! Beautifully decorated (e.g., the floor looks like a cross between a sparkling pool and a first class ice skating rink) and yet so welcoming, friendly, comfortable, fun, and serene. Another plus, no drama here… the focus of this place is on the customer.
It seems like every customer I have seen leaves happy regardless of who has provided their service. And while I know walk-​ins are welcome; I would highly recommend setting an appointment well in advance if you want to be sure your hair is in top shape for your next important date/​event/​meeting.
P. S. Another huge plus? These people know how to manage their time. Ellie starts on time and ends on time which makes it easy for me to schedule the balance of my day (I admittedly cut it close but I’ve never been disappointed).

Such a beautiful professional salon in the heart of Poway. The girls Ellie, Susie, Stacey & Terrie are fabulous.
