Service was great! Onion soup delicious! My salmon was much too salty. Too much seasoning perhaps. Very pretty inside, but I would like the seating to be more intimate.

The owner Megan reached out and not only apologized to me, but also my girlfriend’s brother. I cannot express how much this has meant and Artist’s Palate can now be given the 5 star review I originally wanted to give it because that is what it deserves based on atmosphere, food, and now service. I have not had a chance to head back to the restaurant since, but I will now be making a point to get back as soon as possible. Good work and thank you Megan/Artist’s Palate!

Stopped in for dinner on a slow midweek evening. The staff was very friendly. We started with the lobster Mac and cheese. There was large pieces of lobster and the Mac and cheese was cooked to perfection with a light crunch. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We’ve dined there numerous times since it opened, and the food is always great. Lobster Mac n Cheese with sherry drizzle never disappoints. However, cocktail service is always slow & mixology uncertain esp. for nonstandard drinks like Negronis. The bar is probably not big enough to sustain drinkers’ traffic only, maybe they can’t afford a fulltime bartender. But at a Xmas week gathering of 6, we waited more than half an hour for drinks, prepared by our waiter.

We made reservations on Open Table only an hour before arriving after visiting the Hudson Walkway. The atmosphere and plating is akin to five star eateries in NYC, with an almost hushed environment, but more comfortably priced for the Hudson Valley market. Attire fell into the business casual category with some making it a more or less fancy evening out. Some people appeared to be in for special occasions, while the couple next to us seemed to make this a regular date night. We started with the charcuterie plate(photos posted) and were surprised by the little amuse bouche potato chip & dip that arrived with our artfully crafted martinis: a Renoir Artini for me and a Van Gough with bacon covered olives for him. We were also served complimentary grilled bread & sun dried tomato paste to help those drinks go faster. Such a great way to kick off a meal. I’d almost come back just for the drinks and apps since I was also eyeing a few flatbreads at another table. The pork chop & grits were perfect with a great sear on the outside, no bone to wrestle with thanks to the sliced plating, cheesy creamy grits with just a bite of texture, and perfect portion with almost enough for leftovers. The stuffed chicken & potatoes were as comfort-food as they sound with a crunchy crust on the chicken and juicy meat inside. The potatoes had just enough texture that you could tell they were the real deal and the gravy/sauce had a nice herbal balance without being too floury or fatty. The only thing that made this less than five stars was less than attentive service who let our water go dry for extended periods of time and disappeared without a sight for several long stretches of time when we were hoping to order another cocktail and then settle up our bill. I still would’t hesitate to come back again in the future.

The delicious menu and chic ambiance of this restaurant is reminiscent of an up-scale Chelsea eatery, but the lackluster service firmly returns The Artist’s Palate to amateur hour in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Went to this restaurant based on online recommendations, and I made the right decision. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the surroundings were very attractive. Met a friend from CA who was visiting her family in Poughkeepsie — she loved it too.

We have eaten at Artist’s Palate too many times to count. When we dine at this establishment we can be assured a great meal. It is always fresh. They change many items on the menu frequently to coincide with what it freshest, seasonal and best available in the market. If you are lucky enough to dine there in spring, be sure to have the soft shell crabs. They are some of the best anywhere! This is the kind of place where you can entertain guests and know you will get a great meal. One of the chef/owners is always there to maintain the quality standards.

Came here after walking along the ‘Walkway Over The Hudson’ bridge, and all I can say is WOW! Just a side note, we did try to get into the restaurant ‘Crave’ and happy we decided to leave. We went into the back to sit in the bar area to eat, but turned around and left after hearing Hip Hop music being played in the background. Now I have nothing against the music, but we didn’t feel like listening to it while eating in a fine dining establishment — maybe we will try going to ‘Crave’ in the future? Now, for our dining experience at ‘The Artist’s Palate’ all I can say is that our meals were delicious and Matthew our server was wonderful. I cannot say a bad thing about this restaurant. Honestly, I wish this restaurant were located in the lower Hudson Valley area — it took us over an hour drive to get to ‘The Walkway Over The Hudson’ but worth the trip. For outer meals we ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese with a sherry drizzle that simply was delicious. We also ordered Braised Angus Short Rib with veggies and mashed potatoes that was also delicious, the meat was like butter, you did not need a knife. The décor inside is very trendy, with great mood lighting, brick walls with a grey & white with earth tone colors, and not to mention the great art work on the walls. The ladies room is a «must go in and see» it is beautifully done with a movie screen on the wall broadcasting a short film from the past in black and white — what a great idea, not your boring bathroom. As for parking there are meters along the street, we were just happy to find a spot in front of the restaurant because the neighborhood is kind of dicy, and I would not feel safe walking along the streets here late at night. All and all, this is a MUSTGO To place to eat.

My wife, our 18 month old daughter and I decided to book a reservation through opentable for restaurant week at the Artist palate. My first form of praise goes to the restaurant as a whole — the fact that they were able to not only accommodate, but make my family feel so welcomed goes such a long way in terms of writing reviews. The chef, Megan, even touched on our table saying that she would add some apples or whatever vegetable to our daughter’s plate. They didn’t have a children’s menu, but it somehow worked out that our little one was charged only a small portion of the Mac and cheese. So nice of them. The second form of praise comes to service. Greg was awesome. He was available when we needed but also gave space for our family to enjoy conversation. Lastly. But most importantly to me– water was refilled the moment you took your last sip. A true telling sign of attention to customers. Finally the food. We ordered the cheese tart off the restaurant week menu and it was truly amazing. The cheese, Caramelized onions and apple mix was delicious. Onto our main course of the salmon. We ate ours too fast to take a picture. It was THE most amazing salmon dish that we have had. A mustard vinaigrette with carrots potatoes and greens to accompany it was truly the right touch. It sounds so simple, but all those ingredients came together so well. We took our dessert home(bread pudding) because our daughter was getting restless. I can assume it’s going to be great. For whatever this means, I recommend this restaurant. I hope our next meal was just as enjoyable as this one was. Thank goodness for HVRW for bringing us back here. We hadn’t been here in 4 – 5 years and are happy we came back. We’ll be back sooner this time around.

Food was excellent as usual but the service could improve. The couple we were with ordered cocktails before dinner. It was Friday night and Restaurant Week to boot so it was busy. The bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed. Needless to say the cocktails arrived well after our appetizers were served, much to the displeasure of our guests. The waiter(a CIA graduate) should have delayed the appetizers until after we had a chance to finish our cocktails. Perhaps they need a 2nd bartender on weekends… he seemed overwhelmed. Next to impossible to service all the bar & dinner patrons at the same time.

Went here during Restaurant week. I have heard great things about it so figured we give it a try. The space is great, very modern. My only complaint is that the drinks came out very slow and the service wasn’t necessarily exceptional. However, the food was great. I had the fig goat cheese flat bread that was so delicious, the pork which was good not great, but the real winning dish was the banana bread pudding. Might be my favorite dessert of all time. Another highlight was the elk my boyfriend ordered. Something I’ve never seen on a menu before and very good.

This place is really good if you want to sit down after a show at the bardavon. The Bardavon is 10 to 5 minutes away from here. What I recommend from the artist palate is that the French onion soup is very delicious. If you are a person who likes french onion soup I would suggest this for you. Also they have good lobster macaroni and cheese as well as the French onion soup. For people who live in poughkeepsie the artist palate is close and local and a great dinning area. The lounge is magnificent and the waiters are kind, and the service is very good. At the artist palate you will not have bad service. I would recommend this Restaraunt for you if you like classic restaraunts that are local. The bathroom is also cool. It has a black and white television. It is magnificent! We will defamatory be coming back again soon. This Restaraunt is also good for groups, and also is family friendly. Also there is classic dinner music or jazz while you eat as well. This Restaraunt deserves an A+

Food and service for New Year’s Eve was outstanding. Lobster Mac and cheese was unparalleled. Steak and lamb chops were. Perfect. Can’t wait to go back. I like it better when a restaurant skips the«set menu» on holidays. The choices were difficult, but I can’t say enough great things about the experience.

The girlfriend and I came here at the recommendation of some friends. The atmosphere is modern and quiet. Lighting is nice and artsy. We showed early and found that they do not serve until five. The hostess/server was a very polite, young lady that was attentive throughout the meal. We sat at the bar until the kitchen opened and sat with the chef-owner, Megan. She was a great conversationalist and very nice in answering my questions about their selection of local brews. In addition to the explanations, she offered us samples on 3 different draughts. The only problem was that the beers were not down to a proper temperature for whatever reason. This is half the reason for being 1 star shy of a perfect rating as we believe the warm milk stout was the reason for a serious stomach issue. We started with the Maine lobster mac and cheese which was quite tasty. The lobster portions were generous and the cheese was more of the creamy variety than thick. I had the rack of lamb and she had the duck leg. The lamb was visually less than impressive but satisfied just fine. The sear was great and the medium center was juicy. The sweetness of the figs and dressing paired great with the mash. Her duck leg was well prepared and proved very tasty as well. For the area, The Artist’s Palate is top-notch. Great food and good people.

I stumbled upon this place while mapping out good places to eat on my vacation to Poughkeepsie. The atmosphere is great, perfect place for a first date or causal dinner with friends. I went with my sister and 4 month baby girl who has a love of fine dining :) We order the Gorgonzola stuffed figs wrapped in bacon, yummy! Next course, lobster mac in cheese with sherry. It was pretty good, could of used a pinch of salt. For our entrée we had the buttermilk fried quail with mashed potatoes and green beans. The quail was perfect! Tender and well seasoned. We finished with the desert sampler. Crème brûlée, mango sorbet, gluten free chocolate cake, ehh ok. If I’m eating chocolate I wanna eat chocolate cake ya know! Overall great place, will definitely be coming back.
