The food here is great. Got the crab and corn quesadilla, chicken wings and bacon Gouda fries. Everything was amazing, especially the fries. Good beer selection. Great for happy hour. Great for date night or hanging out with friends.

Food was just ok but service here was terrible and they weren’t even busy. Also seemed very disorganized. Not coming back here

Food was really tasty. I have to say though, drinks were a joke. No freshness, no balance. They try and spruce it up with tricks like smoking charcoal but at the end of the day, make a balanced cocktail with mindfully chosen spirits. That may have come off hard for a four star review. But in my mind the beverage program was one big Achilles heel that kept this from being 5 stars.

Yes, it’s a Unilocal cliché at this point, but I really wanted to love this place: Service was kind and solicitous. Dining room was pleasant and comfortable. There was even live jazz piano playing subtly in the background. But alas, the food… It was mostly uninspired. Mexican Caesar Salad was served ultra-cold. So I could not taste any of the individual ingredients. Maybe there was some cilantro or lime or jalapeño to distinguish it from a classic Caesar, but I couldn’t tell. The only nod to Mexico that I saw – or tasted – was fried tortilla strips instead of croutons. Tomato-sausage soup had the consistency of pasta sauce, rather than soup. Was not a fan, though hubby liked it. Dumplings were tiny and there were only three. They tasted okay, but filling was miniscule. When I think dumplings, I think plump and juicy; I want some of the juice to spurt out when I take a bite. We were told the Fried Soft-Poached Egg is the most popular dish. I can see why. It was delicious and I only wish the rest of the menu was as good. Salmon and Spinach entrée was too salty and buttery – and tasted like something I could throw together at home, only better. Just really simple and not in a good way. Mushroom Gnocchi was mushy. I could not tell if it was an attempt to make it homemade or if it was overcooked or what. Just an unusual texture. And it was spicy, which I typically love, but unexpected in a dish like this. Kid got one Beef and one Pork Belly Slider with Fries. I swiped a few Rosemary-Asiago Fries and they were delicious, but too salty(and I love salt). Did not get near the sliders, but the kid was happy enough with them. Maybe they were the way to go. Finally, the menu we were given when we were seated was significantly more pricey than the one posted online, which included a prix fixe. I was only given the more reasonable prix fixe when I asked about it… Either give everyone the prix fixe menu automatically or change the online menu to reflect current prices.

One of the best restaurants in the area! I’ve been here multiple times and never had anything other than a fantastic meal

This is some of the best food you’re going to find in the area. Everything is super flavorful, and unique. A little bit pricey, but very worth it. Definitely go check it out if you’re around!

I have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed with the quality of either the food or the drinks. If you have plans after dinner, I would plan an extra thirty minutes or so since the service can be very slow, but the food well worth the wait. I most recently visited Queen City Bistro this past Saturday and everything was delicious, as usual. The restaurant was completely full, which made me very happy that people are utilizing some of the finer dining in the area.

The atmosphere was nice, friendly staff. The three varieties of sliders, pork, duck and beef were all tasty, I think the duck was the favorite at our table. The poutine was out of this world, we could eat it every day! And the truffle fries were delicious. The soup of the day was a duck and quinoa soup, tasty, not greasy at all and fresh. Fresh salad, well constructed and the mussels with fennel sausage were insane! Would eat them again for sure! Nice selection of drinks as well. Five stars if the service had been a bit quicker to recognize what we needed refilled, etc.

I think QCB is pretty terrific. They do an outstanding job with the small plates — and even though they’ve decided recently to start offering entrees, the small plates menu works well for me and I am a big fan. There are strong culinary chops in action here. The slider options are interesting and tasty — the pork belly is a standout. The QCB poutine is not to be missed. The poached egg is also terrific. Do you get the motif here? I haven’t really had a bad plate at Queen City. It is a nice space with an upscale lounge vibe. The service is attentive and pro. Value for dollar spent here is very, very high. You can get away with 5 – 6 plates for two people, get a couple of drinks, and still wind up with a very solid foodie night out for under 100 bucks. That’s pretty awesome. The cocktail list is fun, and the taps, while not super plentiful, offer a nice variety. And yes, I sampled the Rogue«Yellow Snow IPA» because really, how could you not?

So I just read a negative review of this restaurant where the main complaint was that they didn’t serve Mountain Dew. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Wow some people. Ok, anyways… I’ve come here several times now and I can’t help but compare it to Schatzis, with whom they share a patio. How they beat Schatzis: *The food is fancier. I had some lovely sliders Friday night. Crispy pork belly, duck, and beef with gorgonzola. We got happy hour prices, so the two of us had plenty of food for a nice price. *The bar is fully stocked and the bartender can make some lovely cocktails. *They have live Jazz night featuring a great and well known jazz pianist. How they don’t beat Schatzis: *Their section of the patio is smaller and not as attractive. *Their beer menu is not as extensive. *It’s more expensive. In conclusion, I like them both. They have very different vibes despite their shared space. If you’re interested in some carefully crafted cocktails with small plate meals and lovely ambiance, Queen Bistro is your spot. If you want a variety of beers to sample in a cool outdoor space with upscale bar food, go next door. And if a specific name brand of soda is part of your metric to judge a restaurant, your opinion is invalid.

Went here last night with my family and dear friend Francis. It started off bad when the waiter told Francis they didn’t carry Mountain Dew. Francis my friend was so upset he didn’t eat. Service was slow, food portions small and average and bill was crazy expensive!!! Sorry Francis. We won’t go back!!’

This small plate restaurant gave plenty of food. Excellent, exciting dishes featuring in season specialties. We each got the 4 course price fixed meal deal for under $ 25/PP. That’s a good deal. Try the pumpkin cheese cake, it was definitely homemade. French press coffee was a little week for my taste. Next time I’ll ask our waiter Drew for an extra scoop. He was very accommodating so I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. No problem finding parking.

My husband and I have had two really great meals at Queen City Bistro. Really I think it’s a gem in the city of Poughkeepsie. It’s a small plates menu — that is the portions are all similar to appetizer size. That being said some are heartier and a bit larger than others. The first time we were there our server suggests 3 to 5 plates per person. Whether you go with 3, 4, or 5 depends on how hungry you are and the types of items you order. Three salads and you might be hungry, three meat options and you’ll be stuffed. I think you get the idea. In any case both my husband and I ordered three each time and it was plenty! The menu is eclectic with all types of options — meat, poultry, fish, vegetarian, gluten free. Great wine and drink list. The servers seem fairly knowledgable about food and wine pairing. A nice, relaxed atmosphere. Try it, you’ll be pleased.

I came here with a few other Unilocalers for some drinks and apps and the $ 5 martinis. It was a quieter evening, but there is no way I can be quiet about the drinks and apps. I would not call the martini drink special menu extensive, but it covered a wide variety of tastes, and the way they serve these is really cool(which keeps your drink cool too). A lot of the small bites are accompanied by sauces which really accentuate the flavors. The same is true for the ingredients accompanying the meats in the sliders. The atmosphere here is quiet and classy. Our server knew a lot about the foods we had and was deservedly proud of them. The atmosphere here was quiet and classy. It looks like a lot of effort goes into making your overall experience here very enjoyable.

Food was just ok… Atmosphere and service were great… My wife and I went there for restaurant week… they offered a 5 course meal as opposed to the usual 3 course… We both started with the seasonal soup — squash… it was ok, nothing great… my wifes squash soup is better… after that I had an arancini dish… this was 5 small rice balls with bacon in a apple sauce… this was the best part of my meal… for the 3rd course I had a pork belly slider that came with french fries… again, just ok… 4th course was rigatoni bolognese… should I be expecting fresh pasta? this dish was again — just ok… 5th was pumpkin ice cream with 2 ginger cookies… ehhhhh… The third star is strictly for the ambiance and the service… as I said many times in my review — the food was just ok… I cant say anything was bad, but at the same time, I doubt well go back… there are too many restaurants close by that blow this food away…

Loved this place. So glad I tried it. They were full but we opted for lounge seating rather than leave. Great decision. I will make a reservation next time cause I think lounge seating won’t even be available. Wish this place was near me. Sweet, friendly staff, easy to chat and all menu items are made to order(important when you have as many food allergies as I have). My favorites were the pâté and the trout. But every bite was magical. Beautiful in every way. Thank you for the experience.

Congratulations on being new and successful! I want to express how elated I was eating here last night. I’m about to rave about this place. I must’ve yelled«OHMYGOD» about 15 times after every time I took a bite into the NY Angus Steak Slider and the homemade fries. I also had their croquets, which I forgot the name of, also to-die-for. Eileen at the bar was super comforting, adorable, and knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you, Eileen for treating us so well! I had a taste of my friend’s duck confit– DEVINE! And don’t let me get started on the deserts… Ok I’ll start. So I had salted caramel ice cream on banana cake with almonds for a nice crunch and I tasted my friend’s chocolate mousse(forgot the name) but OMG– foodgasm. If you were thinking about maybe coming here, just go. You won’t regret it. Also, the prices are great. They have outdoor seating in the patio AND… no and. Just go.

Came to Queen City bistro late one evening for dinner and we very much enjoyed our experience here. 8pm Friday, there was only one other table there besides us. It very much felt like we had the place entirely to ourselves. With the option of dining out back in the lounge or up front, we opted for a more formal setting. I started off with the Smoked Porter by Captain Lawrence. Smokey and rich, things were off to a good start. Queen City Bistro’s American take on tapas, savory small dishes, was decent. Altogether, we both picked out what sounded or seemed most delicious. The pork belly slider on brioche bun was fantastic, it was perfectly crispy. It came with rosemary asiago fries. We were debating getting these as a starter, and I regret not doing so because they really good. Aged asiago with a light roasted garlic aioli dusting– they were truly magical. The honey coriander duck breast, braised short ribs, and crispy soft poached egg were all out-of-this-world and eye-rolling-back, good. We also got a side of brussel sprouts that were heavenly. With an emphasis on local. I later learned that QCB partners with local farmers, local purveyors and distributors for all of their needs. Service was very attentive and friendly. Food was quality, and scrumptious. I’m excited to come back when it’s warmer to soak up some sun in their outdoor space. Keep in mind that this is small plate dining, so it can get pricey if you are looking for a full-course dinner. Closed Mondays, dinner is only Tuesday through Sunday 5−10pm, while lunch is Tuesday through Friday: 11am-3pm. There is live music every Thursday from 6:30 — 9:30pm by Jazz Pianist Larry Ham. Happy Hour is 4:30 — 6:30pm with $ 2 off drinks and $ 1 off food. Parking is limited to on-street parking only, or at the parking lot across the street. Parking meters are in effect from 8am-6pm, Monday through Saturday. One nice thing about QCB is that they off«worry free» parking. Just mention parking to your server and the fee will be taken of your check.

Great new addition to Main Street Poughkeepsie dining scene! Lovely space, patio out back. Small plate concept, and small plate brunch on the weekend Great happy hour specials $ 2 off drinks and $ 1 off snacks/sliders 4:30 — 6:30 during the week. Wine prices are a bit high. Enjoyed butternut squash risotto croquettes and duck confit slider Will be coming back to try brunch.
