Great space, parking is tough. The mega tattooed bartender was not good at saying, «I’ll be right with you» or any customer service like verbiage. In the end he was okay though. The rum punch was weak, defiantly a do not order drink. Looking forward to trying their alcohol slushies. Some website ranked their veggie burger as one of the best in the country… it delivered! Damn it was good.

This is definitely a place for 20-something but even though I’m way past 20-something, my hubby and I didn’t feel out of place. This place is always hopping, and very reasonably priced. They have Taco, Tecate and Tequila Tuesday for only $ 2! This is a vegetarian friendly club, and I love the jackfruit BBQ sandwich(vegetrian version of the pulled pork). My shop is just across this place and it’s a very convenient place to chill after work. It’s definitely worth checking it out!

The DJ couldn’t figure out which direction to go. The bartenders weren’t very attentive. I get it, it’s busy, but they waited on people behind me first. Ouch.

YUM! Came here with a friend while visiting her in Portland on winter break, albeit a few years back. Whoops, just now getting to review. First off, I really like the logo, and design in here. Fries were good, crispy. They have brussels sprouts which were good and never are a hard sell for me. I love them. Also the beverages were on point. We came earlier in the day and got a seat in the dining area. No complaints as far as services goes, it was pleasant and the place wasn’t bananas yet.

My company had a private event here. Beyond the amazing and easy planning(all handled by Tia), the delicious food and drinks(even the carnivores couldn’t shut up about the cauliflower wings), and the super cool set up + patio, the real highlight was the staff. Everyone was so fun, not to mention kick ass at their job. All of our guests had an amazing time! I can’t recommend White Owl enough. :) Thanks all!

I was grossly over charged for my drinks, $ 36 for two vodka red bulls on a Saturday night! I do not recommend this place solely based off their prices.

Took forever for them to serve my food BUT when I brought it to their attention they quickly corrected the situation AND offered me a free drink. Well hell, guess I’m bought off easy lol. Seriously though the service was good, cocktails were amazing and the buffalo chicken wings are off the darn chain. Nice, large patio. Patrons were chill and it’s also pet friendly. Definitely going back

The atmosphere and vibe is great but the drinks are over priced. On a beautiful night with a full moon I found myself at the patio bar. I asked the bartender if they have ginger beer, he replied yes. So I order 2 whiskeys and ginger beer(well drinks). He started with ice and whiskey then lime juice and a bottle that said ginger on it and splash of club soda. I didn’t know if the drinks he made where for me. There for after he looked at me & I thought I heard him say $ 8 bucks shortly after handing him my card and getting the receipt to sign the total was $ 18. The receipt had 2 well drinks plus an extra charge for a Russian mule. I didn’t order that and I couldn’t get the bartenders attention when I was looking at the charge. I wanted to talk a manger but he was busy. Sad to be over charged $ 8 bucks for a drink I didn’t order.

Worst dark & stormy I’ve ever had. Went back after one sip to see if we could at least exchange for beers. Nope. Good curb appeal– but crappy place.

I swung by to check this place out after work and stood around at the bar for about 10 minutes, just waiting. All I wanted was a beer and maybe food? I didn’t get that far, mostly because the bartender was busy chatting up some bros. He looked at me like twice but didn’t even give me that I’ll-be-right-there gesture. There was like three women at the tables and two guys that already had drinks at the bar, so it’s not like it was just super busy. Heck, I’ve been helped even at a busy bar in under 10 minutes. I left feeling sober, but not entirely bad thanks to the DJ. At least they had cool music to zone out to. Id say that I’ll try this place again but I’ve seen how wild this place is and I’ve seen it on a quiet day, its just not my kind of joint. Do go if you like the wild party scene that requires lots of bouncers or if you like 10 minute waits for a single drink in an empty bar. Two stars for good lighting, friendly bouncers, good DJ and nice seating options.

This place USED to be great for Saturday night chill hangouts. The patio is probably still great for a weekday or daytime outing, but it’s now turned into an almost-but-not-quite dance club and is a wannabe Barrel Room. I work at a company with over 300 people and this used to be one of the places on the regular rotation of hangout spots around the city. Boy is that changing. Be prepared to scream for people to understand what you are saying and not be able to dance to terrible music while trying to make your way through a mess of a crowd to order drinks. There are absolutely ARTIFICIALLINES. I didn’t have to wait in one since I came for a party at 9:30, which is early enough to beat the crowd. By 11:00 pm, there was still plenty of space inside but friends who arrived later said that the line wrapped around the entire block. WHAT?! when this place was actually cool, you could just walk in through the front door like a normal human being. Oh and once you’re inside, don’t even think about trying to leave to get a jacket or something from your car. Even if you come back less than a minute later, you have to go to the BACKOFTHELINE and get your ID re-checked. My boyfriend discovered this and thankfully he left early enough in the night to only have to wait behind 3 people, but that’s something to be aware of. I realize that the bouncers are just doing their jobs, but quite a few were incredibly rude and the place is now crawling with uptight security guards who are itching to catch anybody who may have brought some alcohol from outside to throw them out. Beware of Saturday nights. If you must go, arrive before 10:00. And if you’re expecting just a cool spot to hang out and catch up with friends after a long week, this is no longer the place.

I really like White Owl, ON A WEEKDAY. If you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared for way too many fucking people. I noticed that I turn into a cranky old lady when I’m overwhelmed, whoops. Anyway, they have a great happy hour! Taco Tuesday is one of my favorite times to come here. $ 2 –Tecate, tequila, and tacos. COUNTMEIN! Overall, their food is great and all of the dudes slingin’ drinks are friendly and attentive. This place gets extra points for the large patio, especially in the summertime – it’s legit. Oh, and they’re dog friendly so that’s a huge plus!

I really like this place for a night out with friends surrounded by a friendly and chill bar of strangers(with the«typical» Portland mixture of hipsters, bros, and LBGTQ). The patio is great with ample seating, strings of lights, and a fire pit. There is also an indoor and outdoor bar on the busier nights. $ 2 Tuesdays are the bomb — $ 2 tacos(5 kinds), $ 2 tecate, and $ 2 tequila all day/night. They also have Geeks Who Drink trivia on Mondays at 7:30pm. Daily happy hour is $ 3 draft beer, $ 3 well drinks, and $ 5 house cocktails from 3−6pm. Downsides: The dance floor is small and awkward — I don’t see this place as a club so I don’t see a point in the dance floor and it isn’t used much. The bathrooms are also real nasty and small, to the point you’ll find yourself playing the game«can I make it until I get home.»

I was told that this was the young hip spot where all the young folks hangout for some late night drinks and good music. Maybe I’m used to the LA scene, but I think my expectations were too high. Really underwhelmed with my experience here. Pros: — Good drinks — Really casual dress code — Large venue/space — Outdoor seating area(probably better during summer, too cold to be outside) Cons: — Music was horrible, not sure how people could dance to this music — Awkward and small dance floor

While often known as a place for the twenty-something crowd, I did not feel out of place as an oldster here when I visited. Sure, everyone was way cooler than me, but that is true most everyplace. My favorite visit was for the Chili Fest they hosted which featured a band and what seemed like dozens of amazing chilis. Known as a great place for vegetarian and vegan food, good booze, and good music, they did not let us down. I also put them on my list of «places to buy a T-shirt for your cousin from Cleveland» — because it is a cool T-shirt. Top place. Fun crowd. And, even if you are not cool like me, you can go here. Honest.

When you enter, it’s like walking into a party. Boys and Girls mingling so intimately the the levels of testosterone and estrogen exceed DEQ’s standards.(Moms pulling their children indoors) Wi –Fi is wicked fast, so BFF’s strategically placed can maneuver a table takeover or place drink orders with a line mule, all through texting. DJ spinning vinyl to empty floor. A parade of fashion risks strut all around. Across the room saunters the object of my desires: Nachos. The evening ends with Rebecca and Megan touring the photo booth with me as their lucky hostage.(Thanks, Ladies)

Overall, the name describes the atmosphere, it felt like a social club but more for the hipster crowd. The black bean hummus appetizer was good and flavorful. The vegan beet burger was surprisingly very tasty too. But be warned that White Owl Social Club no longer offers the vegan s’mores for dessert. I’d definitely eat here again.

I think I will preface this review by saying that I am not sure I will come back to this place again. I mean, the drinks were ok, the atmosphere was ok but the food was definitely mediocre bar food. I thought the idea and the name of this place is pretty awesome and I definitely enjoyed watching the movies being projected onto the wall but given the awesome large outdoor space, I wish there was a way to keep the outdoors just a little bit warmer beside just having 1 fireplace. I know I am nit picking but I know if a friend has a gathering there I would go, but other than that I wouldn’t volunteer to take an out of towner to visit the social club.

This is one of my new favorite places to go out. The whole atmosphere feels like the barrel room but much much better in my opinion. There’s a lot of different areas and it’s a pretty large place. This is a fun place to meet people on the weekends. I’ve only been once but I was really impressed. A good vibe for going out. The drinks are decently priced as well. There’s usually a line, and last time I couldn’t get in because it was so crowded. Plan on a wait outside.

This place has mixed reviews but I’m not exactly sure why. I came here on a Sunday evening over Memorial Day weekend and there was plenty of room both on the patio and inside. Inside was a bit dark and grunge-like but the patio had a nice ambiance.(My one complaint — there wasn’t a specific smoking section and a lot of people were smoking. I’m not sure if this is a hipster thing, a Portland thing, or a Portland hipster thing, but I’m not used to smoke living in San Francisco.) Moving on… We ordered food and drinks inside and then everything was delivered outside to the patio. I found the staff friendly towards my food allergies. I ordered the jackfruit BBQ sandwich and oh boy was it good! So much better than tofu, seitan, tempeh or any faux meat substitutes. I highly recommend this dish and I really wish that more vegan dishes would incorporate jackfruit. A lot of people had the smores dish which is kind of a fun thing to eat outside on the patio. Drinks were pretty weak but only $ 8 so I suppose you get what you pay for. Three stars for the drinks. Five stars for the jackfruit BBQ sandwich.
