This is a nice re imagining of a shortcut through Portland State by the athletic field. The park is an out growth of what was at the time the Women’s Studies program. It has several sections. The park is lined with plantings. The stage and sound wall features paving designed etched with the names of women and an abstract statue of a woman. The park also has an information kiosk, benches and a fountain. Along the walk there are lots of benches making it a nice place to sit and take it all in, or watch the students on the sports field next to it. The wall is covered by the names of important women. If you look around everything is designed with meaning and dedication, According to the Portland State website(which has much more about all the meanings of things here) «The park was designed in 2002 by award-winning landscape architects, Mayer/Reed.» Over the planing years volunteers raised over $ 2.6 million to build it. The first phase was finished in 2009 and the second in 2011. According to the designer it is by design there are no names«underfoot».
