O heavenly wood-burning-Vesuvius-brick-oven with mosaic tiling… this place is pretty darn tasty. Can’t get enough of the Pizze! Salame, so delicious with a bit of crushed red pepper. I speak for the Prosciutto E Funghi and Misto Salumi as well. Will be having the Pomodori Al Forno for starters again. The ingredients taste very fresh, authentic. Johnny made my first Italian Old Fashion here, a kick to my taste buds — and I liked it. Mmm.

Big Mistake. You say you open at 11am on Sunday. Got there around 11 and waited and waited for them to open. They never did. Closed until we left at noon. VERYUNPROFESSIONAL!

I had quite a few drinks at my hotels happy hour before eating here. My wife and I were originally planning on trying Kens artisan but that was too far away. My wife found this place so we just ate near our hotel. From what I remember I enjoyed the pizza and would come back.

Loved this place! Very intimate feeling. Pizza was superb! Very light not overcrowded with to much toppings. Loved the hot oil that went along with it. The bartender waited on us made some awesome cocktails to go along with the pizza and then recommend the Terramasu. Sorry(sp) was fantastic! My husband doesn’t like dessert but got a shot of whiskey to go with it and the bartender split it into two glasses for us. Was such an enjoyable dinner and very reasonable price! Will definitely be returning!

We had a lovely meal here last night. It was a great family gathering. We ordered several salads and shared. The arugula was fresh and crisp. They were not overdressed. Just learned about burata; this version is well done and flavorful. It had a We shared several pizzas. The best was the simplest. I like being able to cut my own pizza to size. The crust is thin, just right. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Very authentic Neapolitan pizza! And very tasty! Wood-fired, about 14″ round for around $ 15. Lots of options on the menu. All Authentic Italian, down to serving the pizza on a pie pan with scissors like they do in Italy, or you can use a knife and fork. The dough was thin and tasty, and cooked to perfection. This was a juicy pizza with the tomato sauce and the buffala mozzarella and the homemade sausage. Went great with a Peroni lager. Happy hour is awesome with smaller pizza and smaller selection, but you are in and out in under $ 15 and 30 minutes. Location is great or horrible depending on your dietary POV. It’s right next to Voodoo Donuts :)

service fantastic and warm food so delicious we stopped talking and ate. The pizzas were the perfect mixture of thin base with chewy crusts. Would I go back– yup this one is staying on the places to return to list

Service: Great. The two severs were full of energy and insight. Explained menu options well and suggestions weren’t a disapointment. FOOD: Really good. The doe was fresh and soft and cooked to be crunchy but not burnt. The sauce was very fresh and tasted simply like tomatoes no BS added. It was light and the right amount. Pepperoni was awsome. Crispy and juicy. Cheese was awsome too! Great pie. Doesn’t come cut. Yu either cut it with scissors provided or «fork and knife it» as the server put it. Very authentic italiano. Going to go back to try their tira misu.

There is a dividing line between bread or toppings. I am a pizza bread person and this oven provides the best char I have ever had in America, equal to Italy. The toppings are light and deft. No over-saucing here. Clam pie and fig/greens pie were awesome.

This is our second time at Via Tribunali and it did not disapppoint. Beautiful hot July day in Portland so we sat outside at the picnic tables. The patio is an open alley shared with Voodoo Donuts, Kit Kat Club and at least one other restaurant. It’s unfortunate we did not get our server’s name he was awesome. We got the carafe if house red Yummy and each had our own Neopolatin Pizza. It was exactly what we were looking for and better than we remembered.

Tried it one time only awhile back, but will try again! It’s a unique wood brick oven, that was designed, built and installed by a group from Italy. However, our pizza crust was a little too soggy, not completely cooked and crispy like you would expect with wood fired pizza. Operator error? Perhaps! Nice atmosphere.

This is a review for the service, not necessarily the food(don’t get me wrong, the food might be fantastic, but I’ve never ate here). However, I felt compelled to write a review. I went here with three friends during the«big» Portland snow storm in February 2014. After walking from NW23rd to the waterfront, then waiting in line at Voodoo Doughnuts for 30 minutes in what was admittedly nowhere near adequate snow clothes, we were all freezing and just wanted to tuck away somewhere warm before the walk back. The waitress at Via Tribunali was fantastic. We got a booth, ordered nothing besides coffee to go with our doughnuts, and she still took fantastic care of us. Friendly, helpful, and completely okay with snow-soaked customers taking up precious real estate for $ 2 coffees.

Came to Portland for a few days. I love Pizza and I consider myself an expert. I found this place on line and came here bc they are one of few places that are certified Vera Pizza Napoletana. That means something if you know Pizza! On my first visit I had the rigatoni(was so good that I wished it was bottomless!!!). I don’t order pasta usually bc I’m Italian and can usually do it better at home(or at my moms) than most restaurants that use high sodium induced sauce. I also had the Margherita Pizza. I highly reco both. On my second visit, same trip, yes it was that good, i came during happy hour. About 8″ pizza for $ 6… Can’t beat that, right! It was great. I also had the Nutella calzone for dessert which was baked in the Italian imported oven! It was amazing! Even the Nutella is imported so I imagine Non-GMO sugar is used??? All in all, great good and very friendly staff. Quality ingredients all imported from Italy bc they have to… in order to maintain the Designation of «very pizza Napoletana». I gave it 5 but hesitated bc the edge of Pizza was burnt and I hate that but since most places do that I ignored that part! Oops, forgot to mention, ½ carafe of wine for only $ 10 bw 4−6pm!!! If ur in Portland check it out.

My dad, husband and I stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon while killing time before catching a train at nearby Union Station, and we shared the perfect late lunch along with a few beers for good measure. Peroni in a frosty glass just hits the spot sometimes. I ordered two pies for the three of us to share about 2 seconds after I sat down. The menu is long with a ton of pizza options, but I knew exactly what we wanted! We shared the margherita(pomodoro, fresh mozz, olive oil, basil, grana padano) and the capricciosa(prosciutto cotto, oven-roasted mushrooms, artichokes, olives, pomodoro, fresh mozz). Our server recommended that each pie was personal sized, however we barely were able to finish two between us. Originally I thought we’d have leftovers but we managed to stuff the last few slices down because they were too good to even let get cold. The margherita was just slightly soggy in the center but I know fresh mozz often does that to pizza. It wasn’t as bad as I’ve experienced at another«certified» Napoletana pizzeria back home in Denver so they are doing something right. The mushroom artichoke pizza by far stole the show though. It was lightly topped so the crust didn’t go soft but there were enough tasty morsels on top to have a bit of something in each bite. The prosciutto was in small pieces, not huge slices which I always struggle to eat. It was AMAZING! The sauce on both was tangy with just enough salt. We ate all of our crust pieces dipped into the spicy oil on the table. Our server was friendly and warm and made the afternoon just delightful, especially since we sat right across from the gorgeous tiled pizza oven so we could watch them work. Great music and lighting too. A winner all around!

Pizza is bland, boring, soggy, and cold. Barely adequate. Mozzarella is not fresh. Waitress is unfriendly. OK for an evening when nothing else in the area is open, but I wouldn’t make a trip just to come here. If you are here, then just get your donuts across the street and keep moving. For $ 15+ for a pizza, it needs to be much better than this. I’ve been to Italy and there is nothing«authentic» about this. I’ve eaten a lot of wood fired, coal fired, whatever, pizza in New York and this place would be out of business in less than a week with this pizza. I’m wondering if you are using your stove correctly. With the wood fired stove, the pizza crust should be crispy. Maybe the oven is not hot enough or the pizza is not being cooked long enough? Oven seems only for display. As far as good pizza, I’d rather eat at Pizza Schmizza if those were my choices. I’m saying all of this because with a small amount of effort this place could go from amateurish to excellent, which is what I want them to be.

Didn’t think it would be this good… but it really was. Couldn’t put in a reservation for only two on Open Table so I called and asked about reservations. Left a message and they called back shortly and were very nice and professional. They explained that while they didn’t take reservations for only two, they would write my name down and put that we would be in around 6:45 so they could keep an eye out for us. We were seated shortly after arrival and had our choice of up or downstairs. We chose upstairs. The décor was nice and it was a good place for a date. We sat next to the window and got to look down at the Voodoo line. Our waitress was very attentive. My water glass was never empty and she was very helpful in suggesting things that I might like from the menu. Her recommendations were thoughtful and she knew the food well. In the end, this restaurant really deserves five stars because everything was good but the food was REALLY good. I ordered the Via Tribunali pizza, which comes inverted, somewhat like a calzone(see picture). The flavors worked perfectly together and the crust brought me back to eating pizza in Rome. As far as my Italian heritage and high school trip to Italy are concerned, this is the real deal. It was a good portion and I was full, with enough for lunch the next day. Need to hit up happy hour next time.
