Urban Pilates

So far, so great.
Oct. 2012… I tripped on a crack on a simple walk in NE Portland.
I felt clumsy. I felt silly.
Fast forward 3 months. I had a BRAIN INJURY from my «silly fall».
Fast forward 2 years. I have no balance, I have height issues, I am scared silly of falling again.
I entered Urban Pilates scared to death and certain I would not be a good fit. But I KNEW I needed to get my balance back.
I have been doing personal sessions and after only 4 classes, I can feel my confidence (and my balance!) coming back.
I am very thankful that I discovered Urban Pilates and I cannot recommend them enough, especially if you have any health issues that you think might hamper your ability to do this form of exercise.
I got the grand luck to get Renata as my instructor and she is WONDERFUL (so encouraging) but I hear the other instructors and they seem very positive too.
This was just what I needed!

i wish i could come up with some kind of complaint to make my review seem more realistic, but honestly, I can’t. April was warm, knowledgeable, and present during all of my visits. And in the end, I received a tremendous amount of good out of my time at Urban Pilates. I can already feel the difference. A great place to feel better.

I have been going to Urban Pilates since November 2010. I have MS, and when I started I was using leg braces and a cane, I had gained 60lbs (from loss of mobility) and my Dr. said I was heading for a wheelchair. After 2 ½ yrs, 3 times a week my leg braces are gathering dust and my cane mostly gets used to fish cat toys out from under the couch. I have lost some weight weight and I stand taller than ever before. This is all due to Urban Pilates. Their expert support and instruction, their compassion and good cheer have transformed my life. PS: I especially love the authentic Pilates atmosphere at the new location. Nobody is checking you out or judging your body. A very comfortable place for men, too!

I hate exercise! Very much! But this place makes it fun and easy. The studio is clean and bright, the staff are friendly and inviting, the prices are very reasonable, and the workouts leave you feeling like you’ve actually accomplished something. So glad they’re in the neighborhood!

I purchased their Groupon deal where I got 4 classes for $ 10 — NICE! So far, I’ve been to two classes and I’ve really enjoyed them both. The first one was an All Level Mat Class which I felt was challenging but fun. The second class I’ve tried was the Spring Conditioning and that really kicked my butt. I’ve attended other cross-​fit type classes that this was definately better than those. The instructor gave variations and the class catered to all levels of fitness.
It’s a small studio where you’re going to get personal attention and not feel overcrowded. I can’t two to take my next two classes!

I’m so happy Urban Pilates opened up not far from our house! So, I sort of want to write a bad review, only because I selfishly don’t want them to get to busy and for classes to be full. That would make me sad, but I only wish them success!
I had been looking for awhile to get back into Pilates at a studio and was so excited to have purchased the Groupon last month, which led me to buy the $ 30 for 30 days.
What I especially love is that they offer a variety of classes, even though I got the groupon originally to take Pilates, I ended up trying out the Barre Fusion and MELT classes, all of which I have fallen madly in love (with including the pilates). Once I signed upr the the 30 for 30 I started taking the Functional Training and Booty Luv! So fun and great workouts!
I’m a member at 24 hour and have tried taking classes there, but they are super packed and the instructors just can’t get to everyone.
I love the small group set up and how hands on the instructors are. They are really intuitive and will help tweak you where you need it. I’ve been missing this small gym feel for so long.
One of the highlights I have to point out is that Lynnea (Functional Training and Pilates) one of the instructors sent me an email checking in with me after the class just to make sure if I had any questions and to tell me how great I did, I mean seriously! That was awesome! I felt really included and I think that it is such a novelty these days to get such wonderful friendly care from anyone.
I can’t wait to take an actual class or 1:1 on the machines after I meet my goal.
The only downside for me is making the decision of which classes I can attend once my 30 days is up.
I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed if you try it!

The studio is nice, although the owners are still trying to figure it all out. We purchased two unlimited one-​month memberships through Living Social with the intent on attending the Men’s Yoga class. One week later, we were told the schedule would change and it would no longer be held on Wed evening, rather 2 pm Tuesday. Unfortunately we wasted our money and the owner told me they’re still trying to learn the business. In the wellness world, having a consistent schedule will make you successful, not bouncing patrons around. Please vote for consistency!

Loving this studio and wishing it was here in Seattle! I frequent Portland and found this new Pilates Studio and Fitness Suite… HELLO! It’s the bomb! I mean they have every piece of equipoment you can imagine and then they have this gorgeous hardwood room they call the Fitness Suite that has so much room to move around in it’s INSANE! They have Zumba and Yoga and Active Isolation Stretching and more and more! AWESOME! I think everyone needs to check this place out and take a class — or classes that is!!! Yahoo!

I love this pilates studio and I’m sure you will too. The space is new, clean, bright and inviting. The owners and instructors are fun, friendly and know their stuff. If you want to try pilates for the first time or just want to switch it up from your current studio you should definitely drop by for a class.
They have a fitness studio for mat classes in addition to the pilates studio with the pilates equipment (wall units, reformers, cadillac). They offer group, semi private and private sessions… there’s a lot of options.
And if pilates isn’t your passion you can check out some of the other classes they teach in the fitness studio — ballet barre, yoga, zumba, gyrokenisis, AIS (active isolated stretch).
