Transformations

Recently listed a very nice home in an area with challenging comparables. We decided to have Transformations stage the house to help the process. The staging was stunning and effective, resulting in two offers in 8 days.
The transaction closed quickly. When it came time for de-​staging the home, the buyers wanted early access over a complicated holiday period. Rebecca and her crew rose to the challenge and were able to accommodate the request.

I first found Rebecca as a result of my on-​line search for a stager. While searching on-​line it became apparent that Rebecca’s work was far superior to other stagers. She uses only quality, designer, name-​brand, furnishings, fabrics and accessories. Her work demonstrates that she has great insight as to what it takes to enhance the particular style and bring out the best in any home. A truly superior stager needs to not only understand design, color and what is popular at the moment but must have the ability to enhance the flow, space, light and livability so that a buyer can imagine enjoying living there. Rebecca is a master at her craft.
I had a luxury home that though fabulous, was a bit tired and had a somewhat awkward floor plan. I knew to show it’s best it needed to be furnished. Rebecca was able to maximize is strengths and give, what otherwise might have been an awkward floor plan, flow, dimension and style.
Since that time I have hired Rebecca repeatedly and learned that almost every home no matter how small or how beautiful can benefit from her talent.
Rebecca has always done what she said she would do, delivered on time, at the cost she quoted and has never failed to amaze me at what she can accomplish.

We did end up taking this to the Department of Justice who elected not to take up the issue. The reason is worth everyone considering before having their home staged. Buried in Transformation’s contract is language that basically says they can place any furnishing they like in your home and remove it for any reason. It’s not worded like that but that’s the upshot. That means you can spend many thousands of dollars on «design» and then have no control over what furniture is placed in your home and when it comes and goes.

From Rebecca’s website this is part of what it promises: «Transformations offers a range of services and pricing to suit all needs, properties and budgets… Therefore, we do not charge to come out to see your property in person, discuss your needs and budget, and provide a complimentary proposal.»
Rebecca came out last night to look at our property. She took pictures and discussed a few ideas. We told Rebecca that we were getting a few bids. She said she cannot tell us a price because her inventory changes and she may incur more cost if she has to buy some pieces. All I wanted was a price to stage my house professionally. I did not get anything in writing or verbal to that effect. What we did get the following day shocked us:
This is part of an email from Rebecca
” I do charge for my time and expertise and I hope you found value in what I offered. Therefore, my bookkeeper will be sending you an invoice for our standard charge for a marketing consultation for a luxury home which I mentioned on the phone is $ 350″
I called as soon as i opened the email. I demanded that she send me an email to remove that charge because we didn’t get a price quote for staging, nor would she give us any references of staged homes to look at, AND most of all it was supposed to be a «complimentary proposal» of which we were not given. Even though she retracted the charges, I have a headache and experienced a great deal of stress.

Rebecca has once again come through for me and my clients — her taste factor and her level of service put us in a position to get a full price offer in a day. Unbelievable talent, worth every marketing penny.
