I have been here four times and have never had a bad meal. It is rare that I ind a place where literally everything looks appetizing. I can usually eliminate a few things and narrow my choices down, but it is nearly impossible here. The drinks are pretty amazing. I will never not order their Cosmo. I ended up ordering the cheese and fruit plate, which is pretty straight forward, followed by 2 more appetizers, the mussels and Brussels(because I like to rhyme,) for my entrée. The portion sizes are very generous and I ended up with left overs. The atmosphere is my favorite part. It is above Pat’s meat market and very cozy and romantic. It truly has a treehouse feel, which I happen to love. If you can’t get a table, there is also a small bar and a lounge area with leather chairs. Very intimate. And if you go in the summer, the back porch is actually in a tree with string lights and everything. It makes me feel like a kid, but with the option of ordering cosmos, so way more fun!

I was in the area on business and decided to try it based on the great Unilocal reviews. I’m so glad I gave it Avery because the food was excellent. Everything I ordered was good and the portions were a good size. The staff was friendly and my food was ready in no time. It’s s pretty cool looking place too. If my travels bring me here again I will definitely be back.

Wonderful place. The best part of the treehouse is the service staff, who are outstandingly friendly and welcoming, and who work as a team in a manner rarely seen. The food is perfectly prepared, and tasty without overwhelming the nature flavors of the meats and vegetables. The coconut rice in the curry chicken salad was spectacular. There was a nice variety of unusual desserts and they were all very good. For those who like variety, there were almost as many specials as there are items on the menu. I am happy about that because I plan to return very soon.

The food and atmosphere are terrific in this cozy, 2nd floor restaurant. The Entrees are moderately priced(I think our were $ 22 -$ 25) and though each of us(4) had something different, they were all prepared beautifully. Fresh, fresh seafood and lovely desserts.(The Lavender Crème Brûlée was sublime.) Our server was efficient and very nice but it seemed to be a crazy-busy night just a week before Christmas. Unfortunately, we waited almost an hour after ordering for our food to arrive. This was my second time here and I will give it another try. Food is terrific, and so are the drinks, but the lag time between ordering and getting our meals was just too long.

The best thing about the treehouse is the staff– they are kind and know the menu inside and out! The prime rib is awesome if it is available on special! The entrees are limited(only 6 on the menu) but they have great nightly specials. Sometimes they run out of entrees so call ahead of you have a late reservation. The location and atmosphere are just like being in a tree house! The stairs are steep so be careful. Highly recommended.

I loved the setting but just didn’t love the food. I got the seafood pasta and my boyfriend got the lamb kabob and we both just had a bad taste in our mouth after. Too onion-y or garlic-y or something. The seafood was bland. I did enjoy the appetizers: the wings and mozzarella and tomato. The dark chocolate pudding cake was also really good for dessert, but the crème brûlée was not great in my opinion. The server was very nice but it was incredibly slow. Incredibly. My friend said they were understaffed and the server said they had changed Wednesdays to only having 2 servers as opposed to 3. Seems a bit odd. It took a long time to order anything. The restaurant itself is very cozy and adorably decorated so you really feel like you’re in a little treehouse.

A gem off the standard path. First off Angela the bartender was 5 star service and Callie our server was as well but she did not mention the luscious desserts that were available after our meal — so I cannot comment on the sweets here but they sounded intriguing Place has very unique ambiance — couches, coffee tables, feels like you just hangin in someone’s relaxed house — For some reason I wanted to just kick back and light up a bowl K food. 5 star Had the following. Crab cake pastry thing — awesome had some name I can’t remember. Crab Rangoonish with other flavors that one upped the Rangoon. Scallops also in a pastry thing — very good — creamy, rich, and fresh. Good beers. My date Troy had and enjoyed his crispy ravioli — had one, jealous of the order when he got it. Saffron sauté to finish sounded and looked good. But Troy is questionable so who knows if we can trust his review. Awesome backyard deck — great for parties too I met Curtis who was the guy sitting next to us in the lounge. Last night was date night. And for me and my husband, date night is all about good food and booze. I had been wanting to check out The Treehouse for some time but their limited menu always scared me away. Last night we decided to take a chance and I’m very pleased we did. The Treehouse has a Neverland meets Moulin Rouge feel and I was half expecting Ewan McGregor to hop out from the tree(yes.there really is a tree at The Treehouse) and serenade me. Or slip me some absinthe. So, as far as ambiance goes, I enthusiastically give it a 5 star rating. The bottle of wine we requested was amazing. Red, light and a little fizzy, and I picked it because Steff. D did, so… yeah. The wine(and Steff. D) were on point. But because hubs and I drink like pirates on date night, the wine didn’t last long and we went on to order two bottles of Eden cider. Dry, bubbly liquid gold in a cute little bottle. Booze rating also gets 5 stars and the hangover I’m currently nursing is proof. More water next time, Stephanie. More water! This brings us to the food. And also the saddest part of the review. The Mediterranean plate which served as our app was tasty and fun but the Pancetta Chicken I ordered for my meal was disappointing. The chicken was so horribly bland, I was actually shocked. I momentarily considered pouring some cider on it to give it some sort of flavor but decided against it as it may have given away just how lit I was(drinkmorewater). The pasta, however, was yummy and perfectly al dente. The Pancetta? Non existent. Which sadly brings my food rating down to 2 stars. All in all I would definitely recommend The Treehouse to my friends and absolutely plan to try it again even if it’s only to have another chance of finding Mr. McGregor in some barely lit nook singing Your Song to me and only me. Moral of this review? Drink more water. Use fewer run on sentences.

We ate outside on the treehouse deck area. Loved the atmosphere and the twinkling lights. The chairs were metal with vents. Very uncomfortable. They need cushions! The menu was really interesting and we loved our food. 6 of us shared mussels, cheese plate, wings and the sautéed Brussel sprouts. All very good. My only wish was that there were more Brussel sprouts. Not nearly enough for the price… and they were delicious. I ordered the special Cajun salmon over spinach salad. Loved the dressing and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Other members of our party ordered flatbread, haddock special, seafood over pasta and the scallops in pastry. Everyone was happy. The drinks were good and we had a very nice waitress. Split 3 ways, each couple payed $ 88 plus tip. Not bad for a good meal.

On their«About» section on their website, it says: «If hobbits lived in trees.» If this sort of vague explanation doesn’t appeal to your sense of humor, childlike wonder, or general intrigue, then check your pulse to make sure you’re still alive. This is entertaining stuff, folks. It’s also a pretty good summary of what to expect when coming to this restaurant, only I think it feels more like one of the fairy houses at Mackworth Island became a human-sized restaurant. It’s woodsy, it’s nature-y, it’s up in the trees, and the lighting is barely existent. I both want to take a date here and canoodle in a dark corner, drink with friends and play cribbage(even though I have no idea how to do so), and I also feel inspired NOT to tell anyone how charming and otherworldly the décor is so that I can have it all to myself. Here’s what I liked… + The atmosphere: See above’s rant. + The cocktails: I had some ginger drink that possibly one of THEMOST gingery drinks I’ve ever had in my life. I knew it was alcoholic, but it almost felt healthy — my liver might have hated me, but the wonders it did for my gastrointestinal system, inflamed joints, and immune system! I also had some vodka martini drink that I can’t remember much about except that looked like it belonged in Christmas. That might make no sense, but look at the photo and you’ll know what I mean. +/-The waitstaff: We had an AMAZING server, but almost didn’t come to the restaurant at the last minute because friends of ours had been the night before and had APPALLING service. Our server was sooooooooooooo patient, and soooooooooo accomodating. She made great suggestions, she never felt intrusive, she never rushed us out. Well done! My hope for you, future customer, is that you get one of the good ones! Here’s what I didn’t like(and why I hemmed and hawed over a 3 vs. 4 star rating)… — The food: You can’t see it, but I’m shrugging. It’s really the only way I know how to explain my feeling towards the food here. It was sort of unmemorable, and all seemed kind of generic. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? As a vegetarian, it wasn’t like my options were all that plentiful, so it would be difficult for me to have ordered anything else. But just taking into consideration the portion size + price + flavor… meh. It was just«A-Okay.» + Ravioli Crisps($ 9): probably the best thing we ate, and I would come back here and get this, but as my main(maybe they’d double up the portion size if I did this). The were plump raviolis on a bed of greens topped with a creamy and nut-filled sauce… and fruit. — Wild Mushroom Sauté($ 17): huge disappointment. It was mostly pasta with a suggestion of mushrooms, and two ENORMOUS chunks of tomato. Didn’t finish it. Wouldn’t recommend it. — Flatbread Pizza($ 9): I didn’t order this, my friend did, but I’m glad he was the one who got it instead of me(because I had been contemplating order it). It was so… sad looking. Much tinier than I was expecting, and hardly any toppings. — Chocolate Pudding Cake($?): We got dessert, because life’s short, but it wasn’t anything I would get again. I actually forgot we had even had dessert until I was looking through photos of our night out. That’s not a good sign. I think I need to come back for brunch. I see they are the ONLY other place in Portland that offers a vegetarian benedict with fried green tomatoes. You’ve got my attention, Treehouse. And absolutely a return trip.

I’ve lived in the Deering area for most of my life and never ate dinner at the old Pat’s Café. I assumed it was small and expensive and their hours were erratic. Earlier this year the chef bought the restaurant and transformed it into The Treehouse, and what a transformation it was! From the outside it’s difficult to see the restaurant tucked above Pat’s Meat Market, but the new sign helps. Walk up the stairs and you’re treated to an immediate surprise. The dining room is huge and attractive, decorated perfectly to the treehouse theme. Outside is a multilevel, enormous deck that really does resemble a tree fort. It must seat 60 outside and was full at 6pm on a Friday, so we picked a comfortable window table(people watching!) instead. There’s the usual beer menu that’s similar everywhere(but with only two on draft), a list of creative cocktails($ 8-$ 10) and a full two page wine menu. The Nor’Easter with Makers Mark was delicious and served in a full pint glass. The Sangria was on the lighter side but still good. We ordered an appetizer of chicken wings and enjoyed fresh, oversized slices of bread while we waited. The chicken wings were smothered in sweet thai sauce and were quickly devoured. After hearing the seemingly endless list of specials, we both decided on salads. The three seafood salad($ 18) was comprised of shrimp, mussels and scallop. Yes, there was one scallop, which was disappointing. But there were a half dozen mussels and it was a satisfying salad. The vegetable salad($ 12) was even bigger and overstuffed with ripe grilled veggies. The army of servers were great but a little too leisurely. Two drinks, wings and the two salads took an hour and forty five minutes, but I won’t judge it from one night. The restaurant is beautiful with some of the best outdoor dining in Portland and an abundance of parking. I’m dying to return for dinner and weekend brunch.

We had the most wonderful meal here! Our hostess was friendly and kind. She offered us seating on the patio(which was lovely, and in the trees!) but my husband had been outside all day and wanted to be inside so we sat by a window and it was lovely. Our waitress was knowledgable and helpful. I had beef tips with peas that were picked that morning(!) and with«the best mashed potatoes» my husband had ever had(garlic and Romano). We also had a yummy flatbread pizza with basil and tomato that tasted fresh and yummy! The greatest part of the meal was a lavender crème brûlée that made my heart as happy as the soulful 70s music, playing in the dining area. Thank you!

We spent hours looking at Unilocal and TripAdvisor, trying to find a restaurant during our Portland weekend visit. There was only one restaurant with consistently great reviews, but it was pretty expensive. Everything else near the waterfront had both great and not great reviews. Then we found The Treehouse in Portland, away from the touristy areas and it looked terrific, so we went. It was incredible! Beautiful setting with indoor and outdoor seating and a cute little area in front of a fireplace. We had a delicious bottle of Spanish red wine(creative wine list), arugula salad(so good!), lobster bisque(the best I have ever tasted — the chef/owner wouldn’t divulge his ingredients so I could try and copy — smart man), cajun salmon(just melted in your mouth with amazing flavors). The lamb kebobs were not special. But easily overlooked because the rest of the dinner was over the moon! We can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough — truly amazing — would give 100 stars if we could. The lobster bisque would be worth a two-hour drive just by itself. Thank you, Chef, and our terrific waitress! What a treat.

A little off the peninsula is a fantastic restaurant. Up a flight of stairs is several seating areas, a lounge and a gorgeous back patio that does remind you of a treehouse. Started off with cocktails, a Beatnik and another drink that had gin and cucumber and mint. The Beatnik had infused purée of beet in it and really helped round out and soften the alcohol. Then came the fruit and cheese plate. Warm brie was paired with in season peaches and red grapes with a balsamic reduction. We tried both a red and a white with dinner. Both were very good and expertly served, the white was chilled but not too cold. The main entrees were both fantastic: cajun salmon with grapefruit, orange and what tasted like mae ploy sweet chili sauce. Fantastic combination I would have never thought of. We also had what was probably the highlight of dinner for me, the wild mushroom sauté. Served with zucchini that was charred and topped with a dry cheese and a fettuccine that was tender but not soft. Dessert was an amazing brown sugar crème brûlée and strawberry rhubarb pie. The pie crust was flaky and fresh and the inside tangy, but the crème brûlée really was the show stopper. Good crème, great sugar crunch. Perfection! We will definitely be back. And I must also point out that our waitress was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful. Thanks!

How have I missed this place for so long! Portland’s best kept secret! I will become a regular! The food was top notch! Our group ordered apps and drinks while relaxing in the fireside room while waiting for a table outside on the patio. We were a group of 5 and waited a good 30 mins or so… it was a long wait but I couldn’t knock it down a star because the place was just that amazing! Our apps were Ravioli Crisps-amazing, French Fruit and Cheese platter– amazing, and the Crab Tiropita-amazing! For my meal I ordered the Stuffed Chicken Prosciutto Salad and literally ate every last piece on my plate. It was just bursting with flavor. We had actually looked at desert menu before ordering dinner. I really wanted to try the chocolate pudding cake, but the salad was so filling that i couldn’t stop eating it. No room for desert, guess I’ll just go back next time and order desert first! The décor is so quaint, I really felt like I could cozy up and relax. The outside patio was up very high into the trees– really like a tree house! I can’t wait to go back!

This is truly an eclectic place to dine with incredible ambience, but difficult to locate. It is newly re-opened and re-named for 15 weeks and upstairs above Siano’s Pizzaria. The owner has not completed his new sign as yet. Upon entering upstairs, we were eagerly greeted & seated by friendly and very attentive staff. The craft beer selection was good as well as domestic beers & wines. The menu is Mediterranean, seafood, and also vegan. We opted for appetizers, since we have been grossly overeating lately. Our beers arrived quickly & our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, and effervescent. Steamed mussels and a 2nd appetizer for each of the 4 of us arrived. We then realized we needed to add another table to accommodate the HUGE portions. Even the presentation was awesome & unexpected — it added nicely to the meal. We ate almost everything we could, but we were all unable to lick our plates. They have a lounge with a fireplace and a deck. Very cool place.

What a romantic spot! Accommodating, friendly staff and generous portions await you. I was meeting one friend which quickly turned into(somehow, magically) a table for 5 and our hostess graciously(and instantly) moved us to a larger table in a great section of the restaurant with the lowest lighting possible(read: if you’re meeting a tinder friend here for the first time they’re going to look just like their photo) our food came quickly and everything at the table was flavorful and sizable. They split the check with no issue and the prices were fair($ 9 – 12 for big apps or(delicious) flatbread pizzas $ 20s for entrees).

My boyfriend and I went for Sunday brunch. It doesn’t look very inviting from outside but the minute we topped the stairs I was drawn in. We were warmly greeted & asked if we liked a table or one of the cozy chairs in an intimate corner. We opted for a seat at the bar. Our bar tender/waiter was fantastic! Sorry didn’t catch her name. She took good care of us. I ordered a tea & he got coffee but after seeing the bloody Mary’s going out I had to order one. The best I’ve had by far. We started with the blueberry coffee cake. It was big enough to share & full of blueberries with a nice crunch topping. Then I had an omelette with roasted peppers, sausage which was excellent, onion & cheddar cheese. He had the corn beef hash & poached eggs. Oh and they threw in a piece of Guinness corn bread . We want to try it for dinner next time.

First time visit and big thumbs up! Rustic décor is warm and inviting on a cold rainy evening. Tables are nicely spaced and cozy. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Started with the Ravioli Crisps, which are a superb taste of heaven! Chicken wings were meaty and moist. The warm Three fish salad was delicious, The highlight of the Cyprus Goat cheese salad was the grilled Halloumi cheese with a perfectly toasted baguette. Too full for dessert. We will return~

Walking up the stairs into The Treehouse Café, I was instantly wrapped in warmth. The aroma of great food mixed with the slight scent of a wood fire, the rustic-chic décor of brown wood and green plants and the friendly smile on the hostess’ face — all combined to create a welcome from this Winter’s cold and snow that I sorely needed. Once seated, that warm feeling only grew. The hostess got us set up with coffee until our waitress was able to see to us. This was the inaugural weekend of the Treehouse’s Sunday brunch and somehow the word got out. The place was packed. The intimate dining room has added a small couch/lounge area but other than that, the place is the same as when it was known as the Café at Pat’s(above Pat’s Groceria). Our waitress, the always amazing Mariel, was friendly and explained how the brunch menu is served a la carte and sharing is encouraged. My girlfriend and I each sipped on a delicious Bloody Mary while we looked over the menu. I opted for the fresh crab and avocado eggs Benedict while she settled on the Gruyère and Bacon quiche. We decided to split a side of the corned beef hash. The atmosphere was friendly and light. We’d expected the first day of brunch service to have some bumps and drama… But the sounds coming from the semi-open kitchen were those of a busy yet efficient team. Our food came quickly. The eggs in my Benedict were poached PERFECTLY. Which is something to celebrate as a deliciously runny yolk is not always easy to find. The word I kept coming to when trying to describe my dish was«balanced». The crab, avocado and hollandaise sauce complimented but never competed. Each bite was perfect. My girlfriend allowed me one bite of the quiche(which was great) before it was gone! The real rockstar of the meal was the corned beef hash. It was well seasoned and tasted fresh… As a gentleman I offered the last bite to my girlfriend, but I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t sad to see it go. As we got up to go, we realized with excitement that while brunch was excellent, we would have to come back again for dinner to TRULY experience the Treehouse Café. And then again and again and…
